It wasn't completely mundane since Orem is out of his fucking mind. I mean, it's not his fault, but some of the things he says are made of wtf. And it's awesome.

HM64 was my first HM game and probably in my top 5 games I ever played. Bad translations aside, the writing was brilliant and enthralling in ways all newer games I've played have failed to live up to. The characters weren't so flat and single minded. The relationships were deep and believeable. You were allowed to drink wine, bet on horse and dog races, witness domestic disputes, lose Karen forever, find your grandmother dead, Rick wasn't a psychotic dick...

I look at your avi and I remember when I learned you could steal get wine for free in the vineyard cellar if you used an empty bottle in front of the barrels. Time doesn't move indoors, so you could drink 100000 glasses and no one could possibly get you drunk on new years with your wicked tolerance.

I loved the winery trick (and I wasn't stealing because I could never resist not marrying Karen; I was just borrowing a few hundred cups of wine from the in-laws). It's been a while since I last played, but I remember I used to have a problem with Gray at the New Years festival. He'd have one drink with me, and then any time I tried to talk to him after that, he'd just say... something. No drinking. Which means he never left. Which means I never won. Kind of hoping I misremembering this, but for some reason I seem to recall having problems with that festival in particular. Not any of the others, save for maybe the Harvest Festival, but that's because I didn't actually learn the cake trick until recently.

And it's still possible to lose Cliff in some other games, as well as Nami in A Wonderful Life. Then everyone who hates you moving out of town in Magical Melody (I HATE YOU, TOO, RONALD, AND YOUR ALCOHOLIC "SODAS").

LOL, GRAY'S SO TSUNDERE. I never had that happen, I won a few times. I love Gray, but it seems completely in character for him to just stop drinking and stare disgrutledly into your soul so you lose by technicality. I seriously, seriously wish Natsumi had continued the continuty from HM1 and HM64 instead of recycling the characters and changing their personalities and relationships for back to nature and stuff. Gray and Rick were so beautiful in 64. Oh god, Magical Melody. That's one of the worst for characters being twittled with. I couldn't handle Gray x Ann as a cannon relationship. Every fiber of my being just keeps screaming GRAY YOU ARE NOT ONEE-CHAN! NO SISTER ROUTE! NO! NO! D:

I never had a problem with peopel moving out of MM, except maybe Dia sometimes. Dia is all of my Do Not Want. I was more distressed by Basil temporarily leaving each winter. Sometimes I marry him just because I can't bear to see him go each winter... But then he's all 'PLANTSPLANTSPLANTSPLANTSPLANTS' even worse than normal. All day. Every day. 24/7. PLANTS. Geegus Crisp. PLANTS.

What was the cake trick? Something I never learned?

I would like to post in the HM thread in Kawaii, but last time I tried, I couldn't even connect to the server to open it. I have issues with the BF server real bad, I don't know why. I'm so lucky this thread isn't usually affected, so I can update.

It's not so bad if you think of them as Gray and Ann's grandparents. Because then it'd make sense for Gray to look a lot like his grandpappy, since Ann looks so much like her grandmother. Basil x Nina on the other hand... There's just no excuse for that one. Because it means that Lillia literally married her father or married someone who looks and acts exactly like him and has the same name. Either way, it's creepy as hell.

No something's wrong here, I remember thinking that and it not being the case. It's Lilla x Louie I think, and Nina x Basil. Which is like. Dating your wife's grandmother? Wait no. They're not related. They just all have pink hair.

Fuck, see? This is why I don't like what they did. Even I can't keep it straight anymore.

Lillia is Nina's daughter (Nina's from the original SNES game and in N64 it's strongly implied that she is Popuri's grandmother, which would mean that either Popuri's mother, Lillia, is Nina's daughter or Popuri's father, Basil, is Nina's son, hopefully not both) and doesn't appear in Magical Melodies. You're thinking of Lyla, who is from Save the Homeland and is paired with Louis. I have no problem with that pairing (though how cute would Louis and Ann have been together, come on.) Basil x Nina on the other hand... The only way that could be a little less creepy is if Basil from 64 is their child, who just happens to fall in love with a pink haired flower loving girl who isn't related to Nina. No wait, scratch that, still creepy because that means he basically married someone who is uncomfortably like his mom.

Everything about that makes me shift uncomfortably. The more you try to understand it, the worse it gets. I loved MM, but I had to zone a LOT out. I know the continuity is not the same, they're alternate realities, but I cannto unsee the original Hm1 and HM64 because that is my cannon. Everything else is like twisted demento world.

Well, except Lyla x Louis. Except that they're not even.. I don't know they 're liek teh leftover socks that didn't otherwise have a pair and were stuck together. Bizzare.

Save the Homeland is a whole other rant for me. The fucking Majora's Mask of Harvest Moon and not in a good way. If there is a good way.

Louis actually had a crush on Lyla in STH, so there's some basis for that pairing. I thought a couple of the pairings were pretty cute. Like Bob and Gwen were adorable together, but there are a lot of pairings that didn't make much sense and could have been done a lot better. I actually have a soft spot for Nina and Kurt as a couple. I was in an RP where I played Nina and she got engaged to Kurt and he built a little house for the two of them in the forest, surrounded by blue mists and Gwen was Nina's best friend, so she was going to be the maid of honor and it was absolutely adorable. <3 (If someone wants to write fanfic for this pairing or draw some fanart, it would make the rest of my year and probably at least a week into the new one.)

Anywya, more on topic so I don't get in trouble for derailing my own thread (again), I haven't screenshotted the next route after Orem's epilogue yet. Oops. Guess I know how I'll be spending my night off tonight. The things I do for you guys...

I'll just admit, it's the mystery dude. I forgot how to get out of that maze, because it doesn't work on logic. It's a random sequence of movements. Well, not random, but it doesn't seem to be literally moving, as you warp constantly.

I need to stalk my information sources and see if I can find the key I used originally to beat it. Because it's hard and unfun. That whole route is none too enticing. I don't dislike mystery, but all the secrecy and his apathy doesn't make it particularly enjoyable to suffer through that confusing game.

Can you believe we're down to the last four guys? A couple of them, including the next route, I saw fit to present not one but TWO endings! They're interesting enough to include and not force you to go see for yourself! (Though it's better that way, lol) On top of that, I'll be showing a few more of the bad ends and things to show off some awesome Mirage moments. xD

Will you guys miss this thread as much as I will when I get done? Would you be intersted in seeing the source games, Imaginary Realm and Genetic Glow? If so, which one first? Am I doing ok as a presenter? Let me know what you guys are thinking, and I'll start planning out my next moves! I have to keep it in mind, because of work stuff and a possible other, unrelated LP I've been thinking about starting that will be more difficult than these little visual novels.
