In which we create an armada of destruction, Let's Play Touhoumon Another World!

Uh, yeah, hi.
I'm new to this whole LP stuff, but I'll try my best!

Touhoumon is a series of ROM-hacks of Pokemon games, replacing the eponymous creatures with Touhou characters, which are called Boneka in this hack.

By the way, this run will be half of a Nuzlocke run; I plan to obey the fainting = dying rule, but not the catch the first thing seen upon entering a route rule. So third...

The next part's told through narration, basically summarizing the typical first 20 minutes of FireRed.


Like so. I'll shorten it for you.

Morgana goes to the grass, Prof. Oak chastises her for going without a Boneka, takes her to the lab, and gives her one. Haniel and Morgana battle. Morgana goes to Tokiwa (Viridian) City, picks up Oak's Parcel, and gives it to him. Oak gives iDollDexes to Morgana and Haniel, who was there for no specified reason.

Then suddenly...



oh shit who turned off the lights

We wake up somewhere entirely new, when suddenly...



This CRemilia was about to tear Morgana to shreds, but then Reimu (the human, not a Boneka) comes to the rescue.



We wake up in a bedroom of hers, and of course, since this is an RPG, we thank her according to our traditions.



By stealing her things.


Reimu: Do you remember what happened yesterday? I found you unconscious at the bottom of the [sic] stair to the shrine. Likely, you were attacked by Boneka, but..

To shorten the exposition, we've woken up in Gensokyo (I think) and we have no idea what caused us to be teleported here.




To progress the plot, Morgana attempts to leave the shrine.

Dammit Morgana, you made Reimu use all-caps!

So then Reimu says that it wouldn't be safe to leave, and decides to give her a second Boneka (in addition to the one we got from Professor Oak)

The game randomly and involuntarily gives you one of the three prankster fairies, btdubs.

Yeah, the creator of this hack I think is a total Sanae fan. Which, in other words, means that since Another World borrows a lot of mechanics from World Link, Sanae can possibly become

I do hope Sakuya wont end up totally as another Mima like in the actual games. Anyway, done raging over that and hoping for a Reimu or Marisa starter!

I-It's not like I have a grudge on Sanae or anything. Nope! Totally none! *sniffsniff*

She's still popular enough to be a recurring character in the fighting game spin-offs! Hopefully this means that she won't be another Mima she'll be popular enough to be in TH14, like Youmu in TH13!

By the by, do you guys think I should post what each Boneka's final stages look like?

I remember hearing a rumor that Youmu was picked to be the other playable because she won in the voting session ZUN made or something. Anyway, I totally love Youmu anyway (since her boss theme and battle against Sakuya in PCB was epic as hell) so, I'm fine with her!

I do hope ZUN brings her back. She's got an awesome theme and badass powers to boot. Plus, interesting character as well!

I think Another World has different sprites than World Link, but these are roughly what Reimu, Sanae, and Marisa could look like.

I can kinda help with the above two!

- For the DE Boneka, you'll need to do this overly complicated get VBA Link so you can trade Boneka with others over LAN. What this usually means is that you end up trading Boneka with yourself.
- The doujin in question is called "Advent Cirno", where the FF7 characters are replaced with ones from Touhou. (Cirno is Cloud, Meiling is Tifa, Reisen is Vincent etc.)
EDIT: Also, judging from what Advent Marisa's carrying, I'm pretty sure she's supposed to be Yuffie.

Actually, these two sprites slightly (or maybe this is just me) resembles their Touhouvania outfits in the simplest form possible:

Question! Do the Boneka here have specific genders? Like male or female? Because then I will be urging you to get a Male or Female Marisa (if you chose Reimu as a starter) and vice versa just so I can ship them of clarity, and plain scientific reasons.

EDIT: Okay maybe not but I like to imagine so :D

The Boneka sort of have genders, they're yin-yang symbols, but I think they fulfill the same function, I don't know what the canonical interpretation of them is supposed to be.

Anyways, I think Marisa's the winner, so I'll go work on the next post now.

Someone already called an electric type, which means I can't be Marisa... Curses. Unless the person who specifically wanted electricity wants to go with the Lunachild. I'msorry,Ijustloveherverbaltick~ ;u;

I'm still a little iffy on their portrayal of certain characters (I'm particularly looking at you, Nitori), but I really enjoyed how they handled everyone else.

Well, we go inside Akyuu's big-ass mansion, and talk to her.

(I missed some of the dialogue here, so I'll just fill in what I think was roughly said in non-bold. I'll also create some dialogue in non-bold for Morgana, since she has silent protagonist syndrome and stuff.)

Akyuu: I recieved word from Reimu that you are suffering from amnesia. I am not entirely certain what could have caused it, but will you tell me what you know anyways?

Morgana: Dude, I like got my first boneka, and then I blacked out on the Route 1 back in my country/planet, and when I woke up I was outside of Reimu's place. That's like it.

Akyuu: So when you woke up at the shrine, you couldn't remember what happened? From the time you [sic] awake until now, have you felt or seen anything strange? If you noticed something like that, perhaps it could jump-start your memory.

Morgana: Just a shiny CRemilia. Nothing, like, particularly unusual, bro.

Akyuu: Boneka... I see... In truth, there is much about Boneka that is currently unknown. What is known is that half a year ago, a magician made a mistake during an incantation. As a result, larger numbers of Boneka were scattered all over Gensokyo... that's about all that's known. If you wish to know more, going to that magician's place and talking to her would be your best bet... Do you wish to find out more?

Morgana: K.

Akyuu: I see... the magician should be somewhere [sic] the lake to the north. She lives there in a mansion called the Scarlet Devil Mansion. It would be good if you talked to her directly. For the time being, I will write a letter of introduction for you.

Morgana: Thanks, bro.

Akyuu: Also, please take this... er, you already have an iDollDex from where you came from? But, Your iDollDex is not fully upgraded, so take this upgraded iDollDex.

[World iDollDex get]

Akyuu: ...Take these with you as well.



Akyuu: You need them balls to catch Boneka and stuff.

Anyways, since I don't really trust this game to play nice, since it is Touhoumon and all, I go ahead and level grind a bit.

Just a bit.

By the way, let's just say that having both CMystia and CMarisa, both of which having the ability Pickup, while doing this modicum of experience-farming benefited me in many ways.



I then go to the cafe, to read some newspaper articles.


Recently, Gensokyo has switched from using Spell Cards to using Boneka to settle duels. So now, a tournament to decide Gensokyo's Number 1 Boneka Battler has been announced. The original proposer of the tournament was the youkai...Yukari Yakumo. We asked the person herself why she decided to open such a tournament. "Holding such [sic] tournament would be more interesting than not, you see. Besides, it's not me on the preparations." The youkai population's reaction to the tournament has been good. Lines like "This sounds interesting." and "I want to join!" have heard everywhere. The expectation for this tournament [sic] have been ever-increasing. The details of the tournament have not yet been realized. But, any new information we find will be announced in the next issue.

Then, suddenly, one of the elementary school kids approached me...

Boy: Could I borrow your Marisa, granny? My CChen got stuck in a tree...

Morgana: Excuse me, I am not an old hag. But sure.

I hand him Squish's Orb.

Boy: Thanks! Here, hold my CRumia's Orb for a sec...

He went off somewhere in the middle of the forest. A thunderstorm then seemed to appear in that area, but it disseminated and never reached the town. Five minutes later, the boy returned. He was soaked in water, but he had a drenched CChen in his hands, so I presume he succeeded...

Boy: Thanks! Here's your Marisa back.

Morgana: Alright, here's your Boneka back as well.

He went off on his way, but when I looked at how Squish was doing, she seemed different, somehow...




Oh, I guess Squish must have lost her hat in the forest. I guess I'd be kind of upset too if that happened to me. it was a pretty nice hat, after all. I hope she doesn't get a cold, especially with that Drizzle ability.

Wait... didn't she have Pickup?

I must be mistaken.

Sorry, I named Marisa already, but I have a plan for what you can be...

... Holy crap I love this game's version of me. JUST LOOK AT THAT GORGEOUS HAT

I'll just go ahead and rain on everyone's parade, then. It'll make it all the more easier to steal things hit things with my electric attacks~

EDIT: Forgot to ask, the in-game trade thing isn't mandatory, right? 'Cause design-wise I'm going to stick with TH12 Marisa when I ever get 'round to playing this game.
