Okay I went back to take a closer look at the character profiles and I think my character is a little too old? Considering that the 'event' timelines on the side show Haniel's character being 3 during the first event while mine would be 50. But there's only an eight year gap between them, so she should be more like 12...

Nah. I think they're just doing that to be cute. I agree with the proficiency theory.

If you look at the character creation screen, each weapon has a proficiency rating, from S (the best) to C (the worst). I think you can do either the individual thing or all of them; I just picked Weaponry as her proficiency and told Snark to pick the rating in the rest of them.

Oh, I misunderstood on Weaponry; I thought it was a Pick One like a lot of the other things. But I'm happy to have everything else rated at Snark's discretion.

Anabanana Koreans name their children with Hanja characters then that translates over into Korean. Well, most of the old families do, I believe. For example, my mother is shining achievement in hanja and Kwak Sung Sook in Korean. So, yes, to a degree, chinese characters still play a part in naming.
