Eventually I realize that Gin is a psychopath who just needs to control everything around him. So long as he feels that Kirara belongs entirely to him, he's happy.

Later, when Gin demands that they have sex, Kirara pleads for him to be gentler and he just isn't. And then she starts to enjoy it, but questions herself.

Gin decides he's going to become prime minister, and Hanamaki decides it's time to kick it into high gear.

Six chapters left to go.

During this latest timeskip, Hanamaki has grown long hair (at least, I think it's Hanamaki. God help us if ANOTHER rival has appeared) and Gin decides to dye his hair black.

Gin also says that it's time for Kirara to meet his father. We saw him about 8 chapters back, but I didn't mention it because it wasn't significant.

Kirara says she also wants to change her image, and leaves it up to Gin. I feel that this is the smartest choice for survival.

Yes, this has become a "survive domestic abuse" kind of situation to me. And I don't mean that in a joking manner at all.

Anyway they cut her hair short and it looks cute.

I know Gin's father meant this in a different context, but guuuurl you should be running.

The father approves of Kirara, and Gin suddenly declares that they're going to get married. I kind of thought it happened during the timeskip, but of course I won't be able to escape this manga without seeing the wedding.

Gin's father suggests that Kirara become a secretary for a politician, to understand what Gin's doing and better support him. I feel that this is the first reasonable thing to be said in the entire manga.

It turns out that that random guy actually wasn't Hanamaki, it was a NEW PERSON. The politician that Kirara will be working for.


Kirara thinks he looks cool.

I don't know how to express my feelings in a sensitive way any more.

Gin wholeheartedly refuses to allow Kirara to do this, and volunteers to take on the job himself. Gin's father agrees to this, saying it'll be good to get that guy (Jinguu) on their side.

Gin and Kirara both agree that this is all just for the benefit of Gin's father. I don't care. As long as it doesn't benefit Gin, I'm happy.

We discover that Jinguu has affairs with wives of political leaders in order to learn their secrets, but he's "tired of old women" and wants to "enjoy the body of a young nymph". I'm not making this shit up. He decides his next target is Kirara.

Well, fuck.

Jinguu appears to be popular, even with his male subordinates. In a completely appropriate way. This shocks me because ALL OF THESE GUYS ARE ASSHOLES WHY DOES EVERYONE LIKE THEM

Then this happens:

And I wonder if his target is actually Kirara, or Gin.

I hope it's Gin.

It's not Gin.

So either all of the love interests are total assholes or in serious need of mental help. Possibly both. Yay.

Also, I don't care that you make the girl "like" it, rape is rape and no is no. IT'S THAT SIMPLE!

Turns out Jinguu wants to destroy Gin, so he gives him some shitty tasks.

I approve of this plan.

When Gin gets home, exhausted, and basically collapses in Kirara's arms, a heartwarming moment almost follows.

And by heartwarming I mean normal. But then he ruins it.

Kirara gets cornered on the street by the press, but Jinguu rescues her.



Ha. Haha. Ha. This is supposed to make me laugh, right?

I am incapable of laughter now.

Jinguu introduces himself and asks to take her somewhere. At this point any sane person would ask to get out of the car, but poor Kirara has been conditioned and abused enough that she doesn't realize she's probably in danger. She makes no protest.

They end up at a ryotei, which is a high-class traditional Japanese restaurant, and Jinguu immediately leaves her with an attendant and goes to molest the owner of the restaurant.

At this point you probably know I'm not joking.

Jinguu tells Kirara about what a crappy job Gin is doing, and



Kirara is amused. That makes one of us who can still feel happiness.

Jinguu initially is charming and funny (or is supposed to be, but I learned my lesson within two chapters. He is not).

Then he date rape drugs her and takes off all her clothes and I'm screaming again.

I don't know if he actually had sex with her or not, but it doesn't fucking matter.

Seriously, fuck this mangaka.

Kirara wakes up and panics, and then lies to Gin and tries to hide what happened. I feel that again, this is for her survival.

She cries, that night, when Gin has sex with her. He doesn't ask her what's wrong, he just assumes that he wasn't being gentle enough.

Then Jinguu asks her to meet him privately again, and Kirara agrees.

I heave a deep sigh. She can't seem to learn her lesson.

Jinguu lies through his teeth about what happened, saying that she just got really drunk and then he left. Once again, they agree to forget it ever happened.

Maybe Kirara keeps agreeing to this stuff because her subconscious is protecting itself from the reality she is living in.

Then I realize that there are more chapters than I thought, and the urge to jump out a window returns.

9 chapters to go.

Finally, after OVER A YEAR, Gin and Kirara have their first date.

Gin takes this as an opportunity to have excessive PDA and yell at everyone for watching. Actually, Gin takes the entire date as an opportunity to molest Kirara as much as possible.

The next day, Gin is at work when a naked picture of Kirara falls out of Jinguu's hand. Probably intentionally.

Gin starts beating up Jinguu, and then I read the most righteous words I have ever read in my life.

I have searched for so many crying gifs, just to show you all the sheer magnitude of my crying inside at the moment. TT~TT

Kirara, you're safe now! This is your chance! Lay down all sorts of charges against him! Get a lawyer!

...But of course, this won't happen. Because this is supposed to be shoujo. I want to vomit.

Jinguu keeps manipulating events so that Gin will be detained even longer. Then he tells Kirara that he's in love with her. Then he blackmails Kirara by saying that she has to become his woman, or else he'll sue Gin and Gin will be convicted.

I'm getting physical chest pains.

Kirara agrees to it. Then timeskip, Gin is released two weeks later. He calls Kirara, but she doesn't answer.

In the meantime, Jinguu is painting nude portraits of Kirara, and I am hating myself.

Gin appears and discovers them exactly as Jinguu planned, and the classic "Do you really want to be with this guy?" scene happens.

Except that at the part where the guy leaves, horribly upset, THINGS DON'T GO THAT WAY.

Gin asks for FAREWELL SEX. FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

And then he actually does it. And says that he'll never let her forget his body. I am disgusted by how much of this manga is physical. There is literally zero emotional connection.

Kirara continues saying that she loves Jinguu, because she's afraid of for Gin. Sorry, almost added in my headcanon there.

Then Gin cries alone in his room. Again, I want to be happy about this, but all I feel is pain.

Jinguu's fiancee comes over while Jinguu is forcing Kirara to have sex with him. She says she doesn't really care what he does, as long as she becomes the First Lady.

Then, when she leaves, she gets splashed by a car and her clothes are ruined. Who was in the car? None other than Gin, of course! I think I know where this is going. Again.

Fuck you, Mayu, stop stealing from Hana Yori Dango.

Just kidding! We can't have nice things. Gin actually just takes her to a hotel and has sex with her.

Then we see Jinguu visiting a girl in the hospital.

I can see that we are supposed to feel that he's being well-intentioned and caring, but this is a horrible idea.

SOMEHOW Gin happens to be in the hospital as Jinguu is visiting this girl and declaring his love for her, and so he overhears the entire thing. SOMEHOW.

This is a really shitty manga.

Then Ruriko (the hospital girl) meets Kirara, who came to give Jinguu a homemade lunch. Kirara wonders if she's actually falling in love with Jinguu. I bash my head against the wall a few times.

Gin secretly plans a comeback concert for Kirara. I don't know where he is going with this, and I don't WANT to like it. I don't want to like anything about this manga. I hope I can go on hating it for the rest of eternity, so that I never feel any urge to think about it ever again.

One day, when Kirara is walking down the street, Gin appears on a motorcycle. His hair is back to silver. Maybe this is a metaphor that we're going back to "happy rabu-rabu tiemu"? I don't know.

Just another example of how Gin has warped Kirara's perception of a normal relationship.

People...
PEOPLE.

This type of thing is so scarily like how a rapist would treat a woman they "prey" on.
They push guilt onto her, by saying that she's always "like" this and that they are the reason that the rapist loses control.
He then proceeds to say he "loves" her and that she cannot live without them...repeating this.
It's like brainwashing.
It's why a lot of people that are abused do not think to go and call for help.

WHY IS THIS ROMANTIC?

Then Gin kidnaps Kirara and brings her back to the Tokyo Dome. And OMG?!?!?!?!??!? Ruriko is there! And then

I hate you, Gin, because this isn't a completely shitty thing to do. And you're a completely shitty character. YOU CANNOT START BEING A SOMEWHAT-LESS-THAN-COMPLETELY-HORRIBLE PERSON WITH 5 CHAPTERS LEFT TO GO. This probably isn't even a good thing to do, I bet my reactions have just been warped by reading this.

Gin hopes that with this, they can find a suitable donor for Ruriko. Kirara very happily agrees to perform. But I thought we established within the first 15 chapters that even at her best, Kirara has a bad voice?????? Whatever. I don't care.

Jinguu hears that Ruriko is at the concert and panics, but then when he gets there and learns that all those people donated bone marrow, he falls to his knees.

Well, Gin didn't just do this out of the goodness of his heart, he did it to get Kirara back. I knew there was a selfish motive behind it.

Fuck you, what about the girl who's dying of leukemia? Ever actually think about just saving her? Probably not.

Then Jinguu makes a public declaration of thanks and blah blah Kirara is set free. CAN WE END THIS NOW?

Nope. 4 chapters to go.

Jinguu and Gin call a truce and agree to fight fairly for the position of Prime Minister.

Later, Kirara is showering when Gin appears.



You goddamn rapist, everyone is always in the position to say no.

I will admit that ordinarily, I find this line romantic. But that's after a long buildup of a healthy, happy relationship. This time, it just gave me the shivers.

I feel like I should apologise, Umazes. The LR updates of this manga have killed my serial liker-dom. I just— I can't bring myself to like those posts, even though I want to, to show that I agree with your horror, and sympathise with your pain, and— And—
I can't.

Why is this manga even a thing?

So then Gin takes Kirara on a cruise with the intent of proposing to her, but juuuuust as he's about to do so, THE CHINESE MAFIA SHOWS UP.

This plot was seriously just random ideas thrown together.

I wouldn't have blamed you if you said I was kidding, but again, I WASN'T FUCKING KIDDING. It's so absurd I almost laughed.

Now the author is just padding and adding bullshit. END THIS ALREADY AND HAVE HER GO TO HER RAPIST.

It just goes to show how bad the plot is when you can resolve a new conflict in three chapters.

Thank god there's only three chapters left.

The mafia leader says that all men from Hong Kong are gentleman. Not only is this untrue, but I DON'T TRUST ANYBODY IN THIS MANGA.

Gin arrives and starts beating the shit out of anyone in his way, but there are 4 powerful people there to stop him and don't you dare try to turn this into a shounen manga, I will END you.

Hakuron, the mafia leader, ends up actually being very curteous and gentle to Kirara. Until Gin arrives (what happened to those 4 people? Mayu-tan doesn't care, so I guess neither should we), because then he hold her at gunpoint.

Then he shoots at Gin, but the bullet only grazes his cheek. Hakuron suddenly gets bored and gives up.

Then we find out that the entire thing was staged by Gin's father, and suddenly I hate everything again.

Except maybe Hakuron. But I really don't like that he went along with this bullshit.

Gin's father decides it's time that Kirara is introduced to elite high society as Gin's lover.

They dress as prince and princess and Gin escorts her, and it's supposed to be terribly romantic, but YOU CANNOT MAKE ME FORGET THE REST OF THIS MANGA.

That singer from way back when appears again and Kirara is starstruck again, but luckily Gin doesn't throw a huge fit. Just a minor one.

Then Jinguu appears with his hair cut and

I guess one good thing came out of this. Literally one. That's it.

Then Hanamaki appears and acts a whole lot like her father, telling her to be good and stuff. BUT he also says she should come to him if she feels like having an affair. I don't trust you, I never will, and I don't feel good about this.

Then the ball ends with a last dance featuring Gin and Kirara, and it's time for the final chapter.

Timeskip, now they're in New York visiting Sakuya, that famous singer. Sakuya has an adorable child


And then Gin asks about how Sakuya is in bed. YEAH I DUNNO EITHER.


Okay, I actually laughed a bit at that one. DON'T WORRY, Sakuya was the normal one. He has a very happy and gentle wife, and shows normal values.

JUST KIDDING He's a monster just like Gin. /sobbing

There is actually a key difference between Sakuya and Gin shown in the next couple of pages. When Sakuya's wife says "not today", HE FUCKING STOPS. When Kirara says no to Gin, he ignores it and just keeps going.

Then Sakuya gives Gin some advice on how to be more romantic, and Gin actually does romantic things. By which I mean, the actions themselves are very romantic, but I don't trust Gin.

And, of course,

And then Gin wants to have a baby with Kirara and it's supposed to be a happy ending.

But I feel no happiness.

I changed my mind, screw reading Akuma no Eros, I've had more than enough torture.
