Ayano, in a fit of shock and rage, slaps Hijiri. She ain't taking this lying down!



With the scenery fluttering all around her in confused circles, she cradles her wounded finger gently. The memory of Hijiri's ring sends a pang to her heart, and she thinks: "The fact that the ring looks brand-new is proof of how dearly he held me to his heart."

She heads towards the health office, noting how deserted it looks. The school nurse seems to be absent. Surely there isn't a conspiracy to place her with a psychopathic stalker alone in a school? No..., she thinks. That would be too much like a shoujo manga.

Hands shuffling through the medicine cabinet, she wonders why Hijiri would hurt her so, when she hears a voice behind her:



Her shota stalker appears behind her, looking unruffled despite what he's done. He babbles more yandere talk, and Ayano continues to avoid his eyes, thinking that if she buries her head in the sand, he won't attack. He's already gotten what he's wanted, hasn't he? He's already scarred her mind, shocked her soul, sent fear into her heart-




Oh no. Ayano accidentally meets his eyes; she tries to look away, but it's too late. Hijiri, knowing that he's winning, tosses her onto a hospital bed and pulls the curtains shut behind them. She pleads with Hijiri to put her down, to let her go. But he doesn't. Instead, his hands slide up her knees, and with a sickening feeling twisting her stomach, she realizes that he wants to put his Pikachu in her pokeball.

All of a sudden, he stops and topples onto her, serenading her ears with his motive.



Yes, she hopes desperately. That's just it - a misunderstanding. Secretly, although she considered it, she doesn't want to call the police and have them arrest Hijiri. He's still her shota ex-neighbour, and she's always had a thing for prince-like men with glasses. If only he wasn't her student and unhealthily obssessed with her...if only he wasn't...himself....




Hijiri is shouting at her now, his cries becoming more frenzied, like he's about to attack. Damn it, he must have noticed her becoming lost in her thoughts.



Hijiri clings onto her like a man clinging to a sinking lifeboat. If I repeat that I love you more, he thinks, it'll come to a point where you believe it yourself. He continues to interrogate Ayano with nonsensical questions as if she can give him answers as to why he feels so yandere for her. He continues his tirade with "I've also thought about men touching your lips, hands, breasts, body with his hands", revealing his NTR fetish as well as his objectification of her.

Ayano can't meet his eyes anymore. The confused circles, and perhaps these are will-o-wisps, have come back seemingly to warn her "Don't do it!" and "Run, Forrest, run!"

But she can't think. His face has expanded to cover more than 80% of the PC screen in her mind's eye and he's got glasses on. Glasses. Hijiri leans in to kiss her when someone screams from outside.

It's the nurse, and clearly not the chain-smoking alcoholic bishie one that hit on her once, just once earlier in the school year when they'd first met. He then decided that she was "too into the creepy schoolboys" and wrote her off. What a hypocrite. She pushes Hijiri away and warns him to leave, but the sudden onslaught of being groped prevents her from actually enforcing her words. Hijiri muses aloud that his friends also have a crush on her. And that makes him angry.





The shock of his confession brings Ayano back to her senses, and she calls out for help. It's a long-shot. A Hail Mary. But she's willing to do anything to get him off her back. Literally. She hisses at Hijiri to let her go (he remarks that he enjoys seeing her this angry), and when the curtains are drawn back, all the nurse sees is Hijiri and a giant lump next to him. Poor boy. He must have a parasitic alien attached to him. Oh, well; no matter. The nurse exits stage left, following the instructions of the Plot. It promised her a promotion from a one-time appearance to maybe appearing two times in its next hideously far-fetched tale.

After Ayano is able to extract herself from Hijiri, she contemplates his actions.


Her therapist warned her about the dangers of an ego-trip. Psh, therapist, scherapist. Ayano's read 50 Shades of Grey, and that book's more famous than some nobody. Hijiri isn't trying to hurt her viciously. He's just courting her.

She can't help but admire his ninja-ing and ingenuity.





Back in the medical office, Hijiri rejoices in his victory and discovers his hematolagnia (or maybe he already had it in the first place).



Now that his prey is wounded by his yandere and his glasses, it's only a matter of time before she falls. He walks proudly through the corridor, expecting a shower of glitter to explode over him in congratulations. Ayano is there to rain on his parade instead. This time, she's the one to drop something and he picks it up for her. She turns the tables on him.



Uh-oh. Hijiri senses that all's not right within the animal kingdom the conveniently-empty-when-the-plot-calls-for-it school building. Meanwhile, Ayano starts class just as Hijiri enters the room. He's uncharacteristically silent, and Ayano's otome senses are tingling.



Ayano's aware of the fact that Hijiri will breakdown at any time and she'll get to take credit for it. No, she tells herself, I won't let this possible ego-trip get the best of me. It lingers in the back of her mind, like a dark wraith, but it's suppressed for now. All is well in her shoujo world.


Hijiri notices his gaze on her, and it sends fire through his loins. No, really. His bladder's starting to hurt from not going to the bathroom for so long. He's been busy with keeping track of Ayano's movements and standing outside her apartment outside to care about his bodily needs. Maybe he should use this chance to take a bathroom break. The cameras he's installed in the classroom should be enough to keep track of her for a few minutes.

He announces his intentions to the class, and then leaves dramatically. But not before sending her a bishie smile to remind her who the male lead is.


Ayano has to pinch herself to ward off the magic of glasses and bishie sparkles. She can't be caught so easily. She's a kuudere. Gotta make him work for it more-no, she promised herself to keep her megalomania under control. But with Hijiri fueling it, she doesn't know how long she can hold off her delusions of being the female lead of a shoujo manga.



Outside the classroom, Hijiri realizes that he hasn't yet acquired enough love points or gone on enough stalking trips (i.e. dates) with her and the seven days are going to be up soon. And he hasn't saved his progress (God damn it!). But that's okay. He has a plan to dodge all of those silly requirements and still get the good ending with Ayano.



He'll punch the gaming console until it surrenders.

God help me, I actually thought to myself "Yay, more!"

At this point, I think murder wouldn't be such a bad way for this story to end.

I was going to say that hibird what no autocorrect it's hijiri-stalker-glasses-guy not awesome-bloodthirsty-canary, wasn't so bad but then he got worse. I have never seen that ring biting thing like ever and I used to send my free time looking up bad manga. But this is like watching a car crash into a train that was hit by a falling airplane. Horrible but intriguing nonetheless.

To be quite fair, this is probably a much more accurate portrayal of real life "Yandere" than most other Yandere. So it's kinda fascinating in a "Trainwreck in slow motion" kind of way.

I started reading Aku no Hana. Um. Well. I... I don't really know what to say about it so far. Intimations of disaster abound.

I find it annoying that yanderes have to go all HAHAHAHAHA LET ME RAPE YOU on their target of affection these days.

Yanderes are at their most terrifying when there's no rape because, quite frankly, that's not what they're after.

By the way, in the newest Watashi ni xx Shinasai chapter (why do I read things I hate why why oh right do-m), I can't seem to pin down Shigure's brother as an ultra tsundere, aggressive yandere, or just plain sadist? Any thoughts?

To be fair, so far, he hasn't. He's just been incredibly over-attached/putting her in compromising situations so she can't really fight back against him when others around. Otherwise, he's just being plain weird, creepy and stalkerish.
