    Charlie Savage has some interesting leaks from the committee merging the house and senate versions of the National Defense Authorization Act.
    I'm assuming this isn't a done deal and someone within the negotiations wants to ratchet up external pressure.

    I hope you're right. I think it might bother me even more when we reconfirm flatly illegal shit than when we do it in the first place.

    The best part is that, as with other legislation of a similar nature, the White House objections are likely all technicalities rather than oriented around a difference in principles.

    It bothers me that some legislators feel they have to explicitly bar the military from violating the Constitution. It bothers me more that other legislators wouldn't let them do it. WTF.
