Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster was just released to Games on Demand and at a good price too (NZD$29.95), versus retail here. Shall buy when I return home. My boys loved the demo but $70 was a bit steep for me.
So uh, Wreckateer is free for the day as part of XBL's 10th anniversary. It's gotten pretty poor reviews, but uh, free?
Yeah, it's had poor reviews and poor sales, they keep giving it away for free. They gave it away as a 'gift' to every MS employee at the last company meeting. It honestly doesn't look that bad, just not that great either. I think the problem is that if I want to play a casual game, I don't want to boot up my xbox and get up and move around and do repeated motions. Maybe kids will like it?
I rearranged my game room and conveniently there is now PLENTY of space for Kinect which I had picked up over a year ago. I gave Adventures a spin and thought it was fun for occasional use. With the Black Friday specials, I picked up Kinect Sports Ultimate, Dance Central 3, and Cabela's ... shoot furry things with a shotgun for Kinect. (I'll have to look at the title when I get home.) The Cabela game actually works quite well with the Kinect shotgun. Makes for a good party game. I am hoping to get a few Kinect game nights in with a few friends this winter. Am I missing any other GOOD Kinect party games?
You don't mention Happy Action Theater, which just happens to be the BEST kinect "game". And since I'm in this thread, I just want to mention that Gangnam Style is out as DLC for Dance Central 3. I shall dance with my girls this weekend and there shall be no cameras present.
So the sequel to Happy Action Theatre is due out next week and will be FREE for the first two weeks, according to Major Nelson. I was buying it regardless because of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHZXQy1oi18 but hey, free is free. And it's probably the most played Kinect game in our house, because my 2 year old can join in.
I am so getting this. My 5 year old nephews love the lava and snow stuff; hopefully this has more of the same.
Kinect Party is f'n awesome. The dub step game is great but the most fun we had was with the castle builder and the wearable costumes. If you download it you need to start it at least one time to unlock the full game while its free. Don't forget.
I find it amusing that there is *something* in Kinect Party that triggers the Family Friendly settings for the 360. "Comic Mischief", maybe? Beacause that's exactly why I want from this thing!
Child of Eden is kind of retro in that it emulates old arcade games, with having points, patterns you memorize, color coded enemies, etc. Thats really just a framework the implementation of synesthesia. You hear the music and that gives you a time to make an action to gain a point multiplier. The gestures are overly dramatic, to give you some more investment into the experience, as if you are a conductor. It's about being Mickey Mouse in the Sorcerers Apprentice. Grand gestures, visual effects, all set to the beat of the music resulting in something that resembles a dance.
