    I like this look.

Large Club is a real workhorse of a weapon, but I wish it wasn't so UGLY. It doesn't fit with any armor; it looks like a big rotting hunk of wood. Probably because that's what it is, but still.

I just wish I could get that poison damage and fabulous, crabulous STR scaling on a weapon that didn't look like ass. Give it the Demon's Great Hammer model or something.

This is me revisiting the Archives a few days ago in a search for Big Hat's Hat. I think the archives, and Anor Londo in general, has some of the best lighting for capturing how great some pieces of the armour look.

I never did get that Hat as you need to buy all of Big Hat's spells to make him finally go hollow and I just didn't have the souls.

For what it's worth, you do get some better stuff than his hat if you do that, so it is worthwhile.

Also spells, pyro, and faith are almost always worth stockpiling for NG+ aimed characters since they are a fixed resource per playthrough and the difference between a caster that has one set of (for instance) crystal spells and several of them is a pretty big one in terms of how they can tailor their attacks. And at the 120+ level you can pretty much have whatever you want as the situation demands.

Cross-posting from my Let's Play, but I really like the no-pants look. I can build on this.

Does this game have a floppy green hat?

How could you not mention Pharis' hat? Arguably the most stylish hat in the game with the Snickering Top Hat in second (IMO).

You'll have to forgive me on colors, I have a bit of colorblindness and wouldn't dare hazard a guess.

"Floppy" is a reasonable constraint on the category, unlike "green". As anyone who's perused Anna Wintour's follow-up book, The Dark Lord Thinks Prada is Shit, would know.

    So, uh.

Has anyone ever gotten a decent-looking character - male or female - out of this game's trisomatic caveman generator?

It's a whole subculture. I usually just take the stock pseudo-Asian and mess with the skin color or hair color, as I can't stand the male sounds.

I do Astora Royalty for ladies and stock Catarina face with various sizes of smile for dudes. Both of those are fine. Messing with it too much is how you make weird monsters.

I think they tend to look terrible in character creation, but then look a lot better in-game.
  21. Hanacker Armchair Designer

Wow. Maybe this goes in the Confessions thread, but I've made at least 4 characters without realizing you could customize the faces. Could you do that in Demon's Souls too?

Yes. But the spirit status was far kinder (and blander) than hollow, iirc.

My cleric is a bald woman with a tiny head. In hollow form she is hilarious. Tiny shriveled head!

Here's my current alt, I'm building her toward being a tank type character. Heavy armor and giant weapon!

I actually really like the way that facemask looks with the armor (and even Dat Skirt). It's got a rather sinister appearance.

Looks pretty much exactly like my tanky dude. You really do feel the lack of poise from pants+helm combo though.

I'm slowly adding heavier armor as the END creeps up. I just got Astoria's Seal so I plan on getting the Rock Knight Armor soonish.

I think there's great value in finding a light torso whose look you enjoy and then tweaking the other parts to get you where you want to be. Torso is both the place where some armors really pile on the stamina penalties, and anything other than light carries an increase in noise that really changes the distance at which you alert most enemies.

Once you're really comfortable with aggroing at greater range, then I think it all evens out again. But it's a huge advantage to be slightly quieter in my opinion.

  30. extarbags Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Torso is also unfortunately the place where you tend to get the worst stats for the weight. For that reason I tend to go bare-chested or wear the Black Sorcerer Cloak for its super-lightweightness if I'm not choosing my chestpiece on looks first and foremost.

It's nice for the last minute swap after a boss kill along with the silver ring. The health drain and stamina penalty make it sub-optimal for everything else, but it's up to you how much you want to micromanage your character.
    Xaroc and extarbags like this.
  36. Xaroc This Is SEWIOUS

I was using it for dark wraith runs along with the silver ring since I wanted to keep the RoFaP. I might have to burn like 4 or 5 flasks during a run. It is really no worse than being poisoned in the bottom of btown.
  37. Lizard_King Already Beat BF's New Expansion

For sure, that's certainly a situation where it's handy. Because I'm too lazy to farm for it, I almost never have it with the characters that could use it. I suppose the one in Sen's would be the obvious first target for it.
  38. Xaroc This Is SEWIOUS

I didn't farm it, just got lucky when it dropped in the Duke's archives
  39. Lizard_King Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Same here, that's the only way I've gotten it. But the ones that could really use it apparently would have to farm for it, and for obvious reasons I'm often out of mimics by the time I get to thinking like that.
  40. extarbags Already Beat BF's New Expansion

You don't farm it, and couldn't if you wanted to since there are no respawning mimics anymore. It has a (relatively low) chance to drop from any mimic and is a 100% drop when you kill the last one if you don't have it already, similar to the Skull Lantern.

Edit: I believe 1.05 is when they changed them to work this way.
