A bit of a derail:

I'm not sure how many of you might have seen this, but it's been quite the sensation on tumblr and I figured I could spread the news here as well!
There is a lot of discrimination and trivialization of the otome game genre. Even on this very forum, which has quite a large otome faction within the LP section, there have been issues in the past with the treatment of otome game players and otome-game-based discussion. However, the mods do their best to keep a balanced forum and generally are considerate of all Broken Forum goers.
This is certainly not true on the rest of the internet. In particular, the Siliconera website covers otome game news often for the express purpose of belittling, mocking, and dismissing the "stupid girly games." The lovely and eloquent kyasshiou on tumblr has written a fantastic post pointing out a lot of issues with the site's coverage.

We still care about and trust our STRONG IMPOSTOR Cap'n, even with recent plot twists, and we're going to tell him!



I feel safe in your arms, Cap'n. That hasn't changed. (◡‿◡✿)

Still holding me close, Cap'n murmurs worriedly.



Since he's impersonated the Pirate King, Cap'n will be wanted by both the Empire and the pirates. Once the secret is out, there will be no safe place for him on land or sea.
And he's unintentionally implicated me by calling me his woman.





His arms tighten around me briefly as worry laces his voice.
It hurts my heart to see him so anxious, so I look for a way to change the subject.
As if he read my mind, Cap'n loosens his hold on me slightly to gesture towards the fancy chair I'd been sitting on previously.



The chair, he tells me, was originally from an inn where he'd stayed. It was the last place he felt comfortable before being thrust into the role of Pirate King, so before coming aboard, he'd bought the chair from the inn owner and taken it with him.



It's the only thing that connects him to his previous life.
That explains why the crew told me he was angry when Puppy sat in it. I mention hearing about the incident, and Capn's mood finally lightens enough to chuckle at the memory.



I will not innuendo I will not innuendo, this is a serious scene and I should not innuendo. You probably thought of it anyway~

When his laughter dies down, Cap'n gazes into my eyes again.





Awwwwwuuuabuubuuuu he shared his one treasure with us before we even knew how important it was.

We draw nearer, and both start to say something…
"Cap'n, I--"
"Wench, you--"

Patchy, eternal cockblock of everything forever



If even the dense protag-chan feels blocked, then you know it's bad.

Cap'n pulls away, and prepares to go out on deck. Just before he leaves, he looks at me seriously.

WE HAD MADE PROGRESS DAMMIT.
DON'T DO THAT.



Okay, I can admit that this is a legitimate and sad reason, but you're not your brother and I'm not a princess with a psycho emperor daddy! We can work it out!
You teach me how to use a sword, I teach you how to love, we settle down in a nice secluded island. It could totally work!

I don't know where the closeness we'd felt moments before went, but it is definitely not present anymore. Even his expression is different, his eyes sad despite his smile.

After spending the night ashore in an inn, the day of the crew's decision dawned early and anxious.

I'd returned to the ship earlier in the day, where Cap'n had stayed alone overnight. When I got to the cabin, he was so nervous, he seemed about ready to eat his hat just to keep himself occupied.



Those who had decided to return would gather on the dock by the Sirius. Those who had not… Well, they would go about their lives, I suppose.
But I was pretty sure that none of the crew would leave like that, and I told Cap'n as much.



He paced a bit more, before making an odd request.



Ehh?
Cap'n seemed too apprehensive to even look out the window, although he tried to hide it.
He should be there, though. It's his crew, after all.

Nonetheless, he brushed off my logic.



He's acting kind of... off.
It's probably just nerves, but shouldn't he still act as Captain for whatever crew chooses to remain?

Before I can argue further, Cap'n sweeps his hat from his head, then plops it onto mine. The brim promptly slides down and covers my eyes, disorienting me.



Taking advantage of my confusion, he gently propels me towards the door.



Ugh, fine, you big baby.
I'll only go because you gave me the hat, though. (◕︿◕✿)

Heywaitaminute.
He gave us the hat.
WE HAVE THE HAT.
New plan: run off with the hat and live happily ever after. Good plan y/y? Please ignore my silliness.

Down on the dock, guess who we happen to see?



Yup, our band of merry men is indeed here.

Cap'n put up all that fuss for nothing. But at least we got the hat!

At his prompting, all of the crew members pipe up with their reasons for staying.



I was most worried about Russell, since he was the first one to hear the news, and he'd initially taken it really hard. But now, he's the first to share his support for the Cap'n. It's rather sweet. ❤





That partially answers some of the questions I was asking earlier about how long the crew had known our Cap'n. And I think in other routes it's mentioned that Christopher has been on the ship for the longest? But my brain might have just pulled that out of nowhere, so don't trust me on it.

Everyone has decided to stay. What a good crew. ❤
I'm elated with the news, so I don't expect it when Patchy turns to me last.



I'm going to run away with the fabulous hat and use it's charms to seduce a better harem. I've heard the interior designers in Japan are pretty dreamy.



Well, that's one way to railroad us into a choice.

I'm going to vote for A because, y'know, cute as the captain is and all, I'm playing--er, reading--this for the wacky pirate dynamic, not for that one dude.

As of right now, I only have plans for one game called London Detective Story. I really wanna do an LP of the Fire Emblem game that's coming out, but the only emulated version is the original japanese. So, when I get it, I either take picture of the DS screen with my camera or downlad an emulator and wait until they have it out in an emulated version.
