...In my experience, teams dedicated to causing chaos seem to love forests. We have a good chance, but should probably hurry.
And I'm not angry, just... very frustrated Captain.
I feel like I'm failing at something I used to be good at.

Petalite lead the way with me following close behind him. I would try to talk to him more later, but for now we would have to focus on finding Plasma. We entered the forest, and I spotted Burgh standing a ways off. I groaned before approaching him. "What's going on?" Burgh leaped at the sound of my voice.



I narrowed my eyes at him. "W-we can split up! I'll go intercept the exit and you...could you check to see if they're hiding out in the forest?" I was practically glaring now. Petalite stood perched on my shoulder. "Alright, I'll check." I walked away from him without letting him get in another word.

"Can you believe that guy? He's a gym leader! And yet, he sends me, an eighteen year old girl with barely two badges to her name, after a bunch of criminals that are willing to do whatever it takes to steal pokemon! I mean, sure, I would have gone after them either way but still." Petalite flew back and forth between the trees lining our path.

"Hey, Steve, I would absolutely love to keep hearing you rant about this guy, really, but I just spotted a Plasma guy!" I turned to look in the direction Petalite was pointing to. "Alright. Show time."




Don't you guys have something better to do? I have a group of thieves I'm chasing and-



Dammit.



That was annoying.

The Plasma grunt stood in place. He either hadn't witnessed my battle or he didn't care. I walked up to him. "Hey, yeah, you. Where's the skull?" He turned to look at me, a scowl on his face.


You! You were at the Dreamyard!

He glared at me; his teeth clenched. I could tell that he wasn't very happy to see me again.




He charged at me, his hand concealed in his robe. He pulled out a switchblade; releasing the blade with a twisted smile on his face. I couldn't move.



Petalite yanked on his robe, trying in vain to pull him away. The grunt turned to Petalite and slashed at one of his wings. Petalite fell to the ground, red staining his once white wing. Anger boiled in me for the first time in a while. I grabbed Snivellus's pokeball in a hurry, throwing it as close to Petalite as I could manage. Snivellus appeared before the grunt. He threw a vine whip, knocking the knife out of his hand. I approached the grunt, grabbing the switchblade from the ground as I grew closer. Snivellus used his vine whip to keep the grunt immobilized. His eyes widened.




I ignored the grunt, passing him to kneel down next to Petalite. I was trying to hold back the tears that wanted to spill. "Steve, don't-don't hurt him." I stared at Petalite. I stared at the pool of blood that only grew bigger as time passed. I searched through my bag and pulled out a super potion. I sprayed it on Petalite's wing, a sense of relief filling me as his wing turned white again.

"Why? He did this to you. Why?" Petalite winced; I couldn't tell if it was because his wing still hurt or if it was because of something else. He flapped his wing once; testing it. "Because then...then you would be just like her." I stayed silent. I didn't know who he was talking about, but I could tell that it was a bitter memory for him. I hid the blade and threw the switchblade into my bag.

"Alright." I stood, turning back to the grunt that had long since stopped struggling. His gaze fell to my empty hand and then he smiled again. "Tell me where you hid the dragon skull."



He laughed wildly. "Snivellus, let him go. He's no threat to us anymore." Snivellus threw the grunt on the ground. The grunt ran into the forest, tripping over branches and laughing as he went. Petalite perched himself on my shoulder again. "I'm proud of you, Steve." I knew he was.

Urrrrgh. Damn moral dilemmas...

Steve, Steve, why don't you take after mom more?

Kill them all.

Mycroft gif! And Gumshoe! :D :D :D Oh Steve, don't be too harsh on Arti Burgh. He's an artiste. They're not really known for physical prowess. Except some performance artists and dancers. And he's got a silly name too. Seriously why didn't they just keep Arti? What was wrong with it?

Before continuing into the forest, Petalite requested that we take a break. I didn't want to at first, but I figured that he must still be recovering from his injury. "But only for a few minutes, ok?" Petalite nodded. Then, he took one of my pokeballs; releasing the pokemon inside. Fontaine materialized before me. "Can you go get me some berries with Snivellus? I want to talk to Fontaine for a bit." I nodded.

"What's going on?" Fontaine sat silently as Petalite recounted the events that happened mere minutes ago. "The point is, things are starting to get dangerous around Steve. You were right, she's a good kid, but I'll need to keep an eye on her. She might have done something unspeakable if I wasn't with her. I think you should get in contact with the commander." Fontaine nodded. "You're right. Now is the perfect time. I don't know if she's still alive in the other world, but it's worth a shot. If we can keep Steve going on the right path, we might have a chance of freeing the others."

Petalite nodded. "I only hope that I'm around long enough to keep Steve sane. Especially with that guy named N around..." Fontaine rolled his eyes. "N is a good guy, he's just a little...misguided. And Steve doesn't look like she agrees with his point of view, so I doubt that she would do the same thing that Vide did." Petalite threw up his wings defensively. "Ok, ok, I concede defeat. I'll take your word on it. I'll just have to trust that Steve is capable of making that guy see the light. Tell me how it goes with the commander."

When we returned, Petalite and Fontaine were shaking each other's...well, Petalite had his wing extended and Fontaine was doing his best to shake it. "Ah, Steve! Perfect timing!" Petalite flew to my shoulder. "I have a request. You see, Fontaine wants you to leave him in the PC--now I know what you're thinking, but hear me out. We all know that Fontaine isn't much of a fighter, don't tell him I said that, and he said he wants to take a little break. What do you say?" I stared dubiously at Petalite.

"Fontaine, do you want to stay in the PC for a while?" Fontaine nodded. "No offense or anything, but battling isn't really my thing. I'm sure you can find someone to replace me." Something seemed...off. "Well, if you say so." I took a quick trip to the PC, hoping that wasting so much time wouldn't allow Plasma to get too far ahead. I navigated through the forest again, retracing the path that I had taken previously.

Without warning, something fell on my head.



EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!



Oh. I caught it. Uhh...name...name...

(I forgot to screenshot it; his nature is mild and he's somewhat vain. I was really hoping for a sassy nature, but alas.)

Coming up next: More evolutions, more Plasma grunts, and maybe we finally get out of this forest?

I'd also like to add that you guys are free to be pokemon on N's team and write narratives about it because it amuses me it would be lovely <3

After introducing him to the group and training for a bit, Pegasus began to glow.




I stared at Pegasus's new form. "Uh, Pegasus? Why are you wrapped in leaves? Are you hiding something?" He scoffed. "I'm not hiding anything, it's just that you peasants aren't worthy of looking at my true form." I rolled my eyes, recalling him into his pokeball. I released Top for a bit of training while I waited for Petalite to return. Before long, Top was glowing.



Haha, oh man that's great. Maybe I should have you out searching for Plasma? I can only imagine their faces when you spit on them.

I recalled Top. I didn't know how long it would before Petalite returned so I decided to re-arrange my bag in the meantime. I grabbed the switchblade from the bottom. 'Hm. I need to get rid of this thing.' I turned it over in my hands a few times, looking at it from every angle. I released the blade and noticed that there was an inscription written in silver letters. "Flonne...?" My head started to pound again. There was something about that name-the room- Flonne. I clutched at my head in a vain attempt to make the pain stop.

"Why Flonne, aren't you looking lovely today?" It was her mother's voice. "But then, you always look lovely." Her mother said it flatly. Steve stood at the top of the stairs, the door opened slightly ajar. She peeked inside, spying her mother's familiar figure. But something was wrong. Her mother's face looked...scary. She had a twisted smile on her face, and she was looking at something, a giant picture, maybe?.

Steve tried to open the door a bit more so that she could get a better look at what her mother was staring, at. Without warning, she tripped on the carpet, pushing the door completely open. When Steve managed to stand back up, her mother's figure was before her.

"Steve. How many times have I told you not to open this door?" Her words were cold, very unlike her usual tone. Steve caught a glimpse of the picture on the wall. It was a girl; that was all she could make out before everything went black.

"Steve, hey, are you ok?" Petalite tugged on my shirt. My headache was gone, but I had a feeling that I had just uncovered something terrible. I threw the switchblade back into my bag. 'I'll figure out what it is later. I've already wasted too much time as it is.' I slung my bag over my shoulder, put my cap back on, when it fell off I had no idea, and motioned to Petalite to start flying again. "I'm fine. Did you find another grunt?" He nodded. "Let's go."

The grunt must have already heard about me from the guy that attacked me earlier because she didn't look at all surprised to see me.



You know damn well what I'm looking for.



I don't have time for your games! Where's the skull?



Do you think this is a game?! Just tell me where the damn skull is!



No shit. I wouldn't trust you with something as valuable as that skull either.

I walked away from the grunt. I had to admit that her stupidity took some of the edge from my anger. I took in a deep breath. Petalite flew a few feet ahead of me. "Steve, There's a trainer up ahead." I spotted a man crouching in the grass. He looked like he was whispering to something. "You know, normally I would try to avoid a battle, but honestly, I think it would help me unwind a bit." Petalite nodded.

Um. Hey there, guy. What are you doing?

The guy stood up, patting the dirt off his pants.


I'm not sure crouching and talking to grass can be considered patrolling.



Forrest?



Is it really that big a deal?



What.



With Petalite leading, we managed to cover a good distance of the forest in a short amount of time. He pointed out that a Plasma grunt was nearby, but I got stopped by a trainer before I could reach them.



Is this really necessary right now? I have stuff to do.

Petalite took them out too fast for me to see anything, sorry.

Petalite was engulfed with a shimmering light. I smiled proudly as his form changed before my eyes.


That's just so
I love you too, buddy.

Petalite huffed angrily. "What's wrong?" He puffed out his chest. "I can't sit on your shoulder anymore." I smiled. "Let's go beat that Plasma grunt."

AWWWW

"On it Cap."

A hand grabbed my arm while I wasn't looking.

Excuse you? What the hell? Can't you say hi like a normal person? And would you let go of my arm?



I guess that's a no. Seriously though, my arm, let go.



Yeah we do, now let go of my arm, lady! I know Kung Fu and I'm not afraid to use it! I don't know any martial arts, Dammit, I should have asked to be Pai Mei's student while I had the chance.



I really don't like where this conversation is going. Petalite, PECK THAT GUY GIRL!

I ran at full speed, trying to catch up with the Grunt that spotted me earlier when I got stopped by that ranger. He ducked into the thick foliage and I lost sight of him. I stomped my foot on the ground, crossing my arms. "He couldn't have gone far, you search for him over there," I pointed to the deepest part of the forest, "I'll look around over here." Petalite nodded.



Another Ranger jumped out of the grass and grabbed my arm.

Is today national freak Steve out day? Because you're doing a great job of it! Also, I have somebody to catch so if you would be so kind as to move out of the way-



Oh, COME ON! Why do you insist on stopping me from catching criminals?!



And what comes out usually?

You Pokemon Rangers are really weird and creepy. Leave me alone!

My legs were starting to ache from all of the running around the forest. I stopped for a few minutes to catch my breath, wondering if there was even a point anymore. With all of the time that I had wasted searching for them, there was no way that Plasma would still be hiding in the forest. Petalite still hadn't returned.

I threw myself onto the forest floor, exhaustion and resignation sapping all of my strength. "Steve, I found him!" Petalite raced back to my side. "He's only a few feet ahead. I guess he got tired of you chasing after him." I stood up at once. I was still tired, but I couldn't let him slip away from me once he was finally in sight.

Really? An area filled with plants and animals in a stable, symbiotic relationship is alive? I never would have guessed.

Pegasus is sassy. I like him.

And this is as far as you go. I'm not going to keep playing hide and seek with you anymore, so just be a good boy and hand over the skull.



....what did you just say?



What did you just say? You mean you've been--this whole time you--!!


The grunt smiled as I grew increasingly frustrated. Petalite nudged me, pointing left of where we were standing. I glared at the grunt, thinking of ways that I could get revenge on him. Petalite took off ahead of me and I decided that the grunt wasn't worth my time. "You are so damn lucky that I'm in a rush. Don't expect any mercy the next time I run into you." The grunt laughed. I balled up my fist and ran forward before I ended up punching the guy right in his stupid face.



I DO NOT HAVE TIME FOR YOU, MOVE OUT OF MY WAY!


......Petalite, get that guy away from me.

"don't worry Cap, Rangers mean well. They just... spend a little to much time alone."

They can spend time with each other then. D:

Petalite yanked on the Plasma guy's hood so that he couldn't get away. In a few short minutes I had finally caught up to him. "Where's the skull?"



His eyebrows arched up in surprise. He obviously wasn't expecting me to find him after the goose chase they made me go on. I smiled in triumph. "That's right." The grunt laughed at me.



I don't understand why you think you are just so much better than me. Haven't I already proven several times that I can not only outsmart you grunts, but also that I can beat all of you? Well, whatever. I'll just have to show you one more time.



(This one kept avoiding all of my attacks, it took me over ten minutes to finally beat it)



You still have the nerve to throw out that tired excuse? I don't know who you think you're fooling.



He threw it at me and I toppled down from the weight of it. The grunt smiled. I glared at him in confusion. "What are you-" The next thing I knew, my arm was burning in pain. I felt something warm trickle down my arm. Petalite flew to my side in an instant. "You're bleeding!" I tried to move but the skull's weight was practically crushing me. The grunt laughed at my helplessness.



Suddenly, another member of Plasma appeared. I remembered having seen him when Ghetsis was giving his speech in Accumula town. He had a blade stained with red in his hand.

"Well, that girl took back the skull so we unfortunately can't use it." He was smiling the entire time as he spoke. The strangely robed man nodded vaguely, never once turning in my direction. Petalite stayed close to me.



The robed man finally turned to me.



I gulped audibly. He raised the blade higher and walked towards me.



Petalite spread his wings before me. "Don't worry, Cap, I'm not going to let them touch you again."

"Oh, what's this? Is your pokemon willing to die in your place?" He laughed, and so did the grunt. 'D-dammit. If I could only reach one of my pokeballs...' I could see Petalite shaking slightly in front of me. 'Of course he's scared...they've already cut him once.' I felt tears start to well up in my eyes. If I hadn't been so reckless, then Plasma wouldn't have been able to trap me.



Burgh ran up next to me. I had never been so happy to see him in my life.



Lenora also came running in a matter of seconds. She bent down to look me over. "Are you ok? Oh my! You're bleeding!" I smiled weakly at her. "It's fine. Can you help me get this skull off?" Lenora pulled while I pushed and after a few minutes I was finally free. Burgh had the Plasma guys cornered.

"Who are you and what is it that you want?"
"I am one of the seven sages of Plasma. Ghetsis, another of the seven sages, will liberate pokemon with words alone! The rest of us will take pokemon by force."



"You may have won this time, but we will not tolerate any further obstruction from you."


He turned to look at me. A shiver ran down my spine; I unconsciously touched where his blade had cut me.


And then they disappeared.

Better hope Gorm doesn't use Greater Invisibility. Getting attacked by something invisible when no one has See Invis sucks.

They hurt Steve. They hurt Steve. Stupid stupid stupid never should have left her side. If those gym leaders hadn't come...
Our teammates couldn't get out...
Steve hadn't yet seen one of his team die...
They start to fall apart...
I have to be Steve's knight too.
That does it; I'm getting her a weapon.

"Steve, are you okay? Nothing's broken, right? You are going to a proper doctor, young lady, we're not just going to stop at a pokecenter for that. And you are taking time off to heal!
Um, Cap, when we return the skull, do you mind if I go to the library? There are some ...things I want research."

... so, my bachelor professor was called Gorm. And had white, balding hair.

Finally did it, I think that's all the pokemon threads related to Quartz.

And, I understand. I frigging HATE how Rangers scare the beejeebus out of you.

I'll update soon, guys. I just spent nearly 60 hours beating Virtue's Last Reward (literally spent half of that time trying to solve puzzles.) and I'm recovering from my overwhelming feels ;__; This is why we can't have nice things.

Yeah. I mean, I could do worthless things like cleaning and sleeping, but this is more worthwhile. XD

And, don't worry, I'm not in a hurry for updates! Take your time, and recover your feels! /cheers!

Yeah I was at school when it happened. I'm still shaken up about it and apparently they took my laptop so...unless the police find out where exactly they're keeping all the stuff they took, it might be a while until I can get back to where I was in the game.

Well at least you're okay, eh?

Yep~ I'm honestly surprised they only took some jewelry, my wii, and the laptop. They even left my 3DS on the table without touching it. The neighbor saw them sneak in through my window and called the police immediately. I'm really glad my mom wasn't home.

Actually if it wasn't for the fact that I had an extra class today I might have been home when they showed up.
