Lets Discuss Persona 4 (Without derailing the Persona 3 Thread) (Spoilers)

By popular(?) demand, here it is.
You know what's great? Persona 4 Golden. It gives you so many more opportunities to hit on dudes, if that's your thing.
Edit: Discuss Persona 4 here. Do you think Dojima could take Kanji in a fight? Bring it up. Convinced that Teddie/Brotagonist is the OTP? Go ahead and say it, even though you're clearly wrong. Want to talk about how much you hate this game? Feel free, but I will find you.

I swear I'm going to get my hands on a Vita and this game even if I have to sell my first-born to do so.

Another fun thing (besides the fact that about 50% of the days have a random event type thing going on, like Chie getting scared of thunder) is Kanji impersonating the Venus de Milo (long story.)
Also, I totally think Dojima could take Kanji. He alludes to a tough past, he's got way more experience, and he's got some manly stubble going on.

I've never played P4 (I don't even think I've seen it in the game stores here), but I've watched a few LPs and the anime. I'm actually kinda surprised no-one is doing a Let's Play of it here.

I loved P4! Totally importing Golden as soon as I can.

The one thing that I didn't like abut the original game was that it just skipped past all of the second part of the year after the final battle. It would have been wonderful to have some extra time to complete all the social links or at least have a glimpse of everyone after everything. Does Golden do anything different in that regard? (directed to those lucky people that have played it)

Has anyone played the fighting game? Who's your favorite? Yosuke was the only one that i could control right, so he quickly became my go to character, but its so hard to pick an actual favorite in the cast. Everyone's so wonderful...

Not only does Golden let you play that part of the year, it gives you a new dungeon and a ski trip so that you don't get bored. You even get a snazzy little where are they now epilogue after you beat the game if you do the bonus dungeon.
Kanji was my favorite in Arena. Unless they were serious about releasing Dojima as a dlc character who summons a squad car instead of a Persona, I'll stick to his crazy ass grapplin' moves. Kind of expected to main Akihiko since he was the most similar to Bang in BlazBlue, but Kanji can do shit like this:

I would get this game just for that. This is giving me so many reasons to drop everything and get a vita no matter that I am completely uninterested in the vita games out so far.

WANT. Trying to convince Yosuke he was in the closet for me made that game delicious. He CONFESSES more or les in teh culture fest, and the game blows right by that. ;_; LET ME LOVE YOU YOSUKE.

Now backing out of the thread since I'm just starting to play this game now (just got to the FIRST day where I have freedom after school)

If they really do drop to a resonable price, I'll seriously consider getting a new system for the first time in years. It'd be worth it for this and a few things. It's reverse compatable with PSP right? Yeah, worth it if cheap.

I hope you enjoy the game. I played the original PS2 obviously, and it's my favorite game I own. There's got to be something you'll have fun with.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it so far. On the other hand, I saw some of the Giant Bomb Endurance run of this, which was my first exposure to Persona games, so I know some of what will happen. I stopped as soon as I heard that Golden was coming out. I think I was right after they went to the P3 area.

If you're playing the Vita version you should go after the Marie social link because a lot of the new content is only accessible by maxing that out before the endgame. I really, really don't like Marie (She feels like an angsty amnesiac Final Fantasy character transplanted into the Persona universe, clothes and all) but you'll miss out on a full dungeon if you skip her.

Also you should make your entire party fight in drag. Because you can.

I usually don"t care about such things, but the costumes have been one of my favorite parts of this game. Giving everyone a different comment for each costume was a nice touch, and I can force them to dress like douchebags while I take the cooler ones.

Did anyone get the Solid Gold Premium Edition?

I finished playing Persona 4 last week, and now all I want is P4G. My friend is playing P4G atm, and I actually end up researching one of the trophies he had dfficulties getting, Risette's hardcore fan. It's most annoying trophy ever (hear 250 different lines Rise say in dungeons), but I want to get it, and I don't have the game or a vita, whut.

I love all the characters in P4, I was trying to list favourite and realised almost every single one of them could be my favourite, with the exception of maybe Rise. It was lots of fun leveling up the social links because everyone was fun! Teddie needs a special mention though because every time he comes on screen, everything just becomes extra funny. All the bear puns, the naiveness, the fail attempt of hitting on girls. Sometimes I think he knows what he's doing and he's just trolling people.

Since I played P3:Fes before P4, the lack of sp healing frustrated me in the beginning. By the time I could afford the fox because it was cheap, I didn't really need it anymore. (I rotate party members and spam invig 3 and cool breeze) I was pretty annoyed to find that Sorceror's Mark (? accessory that regen sp, regen more than Mage's Mark) couldn't actually be made until pretty much endgame, despite all the people that said it could be found midgame (it can, but I think it was in a rare chest? meh). Oh well, didn't really need it in the end.

The fishing minigame was fun! Once I figured out how to look for guardians/huge fish, it was relatively easy. I rely on the vibration of the controllers though. I'm not sure how well I'd fare in P4G staring at ripples. The dungeon designs were awesome. My favourite is still the game one, even though I really really hate the character. Atlus, you sure know how to bring out everyone's fanboy/fangirl. Ooh wait wait, I also really really like the true end dungeon, I think it's mostly the background music I adore though.

One last thing, when I fought giant eyeball, I cracked up laughing, because, rainbow eyeball. also because I've been in LoTR/Hobbit-land lately, so that's twenty times more funny. Or I was just sleep deprived.

Wait, wait...waitwaaaaaaiiiitwaitwait. I thought Yosuke wasn't a real romanceable option in P4G? I've been mega-shipping them since they seem ridiculously OTP to me (as well as the KanjixNaoto pair), but I thought it was not possible to romance him...

If it is..I...I may have to restart...

You cant' literally romance him, but the game teases you a lot. A certain and very specific series of answers in Yosuke's social link will allow you to cuddle him while he weeps like a baby. And during the culture festival, resist the urge to be a woman and keep talking to Yosuke. He'll confess in a girl's voice he'd like to date you.

Then he catches himself and freaks out and no one ever calls him on it. Dammit.

Oh. Oh no. I guess I need to play through the cultural festival section multiple times then -- I was really looking forward to seeing Souji/Yu as a girl. The internet Fanart Personal wisdom has shown me that Souji/Yu would look awesome as a girl.

Bah, the game makes it pretty clear that the OTPs are Yosuke/Chie and Kanji/Naoto. It didn't stop me from pairing up Yu+Chie, because Chie is awesome. Yosuke understands, he's a bro like that.

Hmm, I've seen the Yosuke/Chie pairing in fanfiction before, but it's never quite made sense to me. During my playthrough I always considered Chie/Yukiko to be a pair and somehow completely missed a Yosuke/Chie pairing. (I just like the Chie/Yukiko pairing less than Naoto/Kanji and Yosuke/Yu.)

Souji, Yosuke and Kanji all dress as girls during the drag pageant no matter what. I'm talking about the group date cafe.

No, it doesn't. The game actually does a great job of applying sexual tension between almost all of the characters to varying degrees if you're paying attention. You could validly pair any of them, some just make more sense to some people than others.

If Yosuke/Chie and Kanji/Naoto is what you saw, you just indentify/approve of those pairings yourself.

We could talk all day about this. Frankly, there is more apaprent chemistry between Brotagonist and Yosuke than Yosuke and Chie. They come off as more brother and sister most of the time, though that often in media result in romance which is why it could easily become plausible. But Chie's heavily insensitive to Yosuke's emotional problems and vice versa, and they also seem to fail to relate to each other most of the time.

On the other hand, KanjixNaoto seems incredibly one sided. There no doubt Kanji is attracted to Naoto in various ways, but she is utterly indifferent toward him as far as I can remember. So you'd have to bring some heavy evidence to support that relationship.

Kanji seems more like once his emotional issues about who he is as a man and a person are resolved like he's fine being alone, IMO.

Again, you can interpret the game in thousands of ways because it's purposely written to ask these questions and as far as I can tell. It's ambiguous on purpose so you CAN pair them up like crazy and say 'How would that work?"

...It's almost like they know their fanbase is heavily made of creepy shippers! xD

Or they just wanted to cover their bases so it made sense no matter who Yu paired up with or eventually settled on. Although technically, given their Personas, it should sort of be Yu/Marie as OTP.

He's a year older and wiser, and decided he didn't need to look like a punk to be a real man. A real man that just happens to find true joy in knitting plush toys for children. It's cool, though, 'cause it also looks like Naoto has decided to be a bit more feminine, and that's sure to cheer him up.

Also, Kanji kind of looks like an Asian Clark Kent.

Well, I'm not really sure what the game enforces, as I've only --just-- gotten Naoto in my party f'reals, but I am in the midst of reading a fantastic KanjixNaoto fanfiction that resolves a lot of questions like, "Why would Naoto like Kanji when she's so apparently indifferent towards him in the game?" while still staying mostly true to their characters in-game.

I will admit that various fanfiction and fanart pieces I've seen have only fueled my passionate shipping of Yu/SoujixYosuke, as well.

I blame tumblr.

I don't think you guys (barring Balut) understand how awesome Yu/Chie is.

Eh, she's not the worst thing in the game. I mean, I liked her more than Yukiko. But then, I even liked Kou "Ball Polish" Ichijo more than Yukiko.
