There have been reports of an octopus walking around the base, masquerading as a human. Yet somehow Mitt Romney is still the most bizarre resident we have here.

An octopus? What octopus? I haven't seen any octopods. I mean, I guess I'll look for them, but I think this is one big mistake. *Dang it! And so specific too! No matter, I think I got this one in the bag.*

Thanks to the last mission, our squad has had a whole bunch of promotions to go through.



First up is Lieutenant Banana. Her choices in specialization are as follows:

Revive
Allows medikits to revive critically wounded soldiers at 33% of max health, instead of just stabilizing them. Note revive does not bring a soldier back from the dead. When a soldier's HP is depleted, there is a small chance that they'll start bleeding out rather than dying immediately. Revive will bring them back to active duty in the mission rather than simply stabilizing them, where they'll survive, but will have to sit out the rest of the mission.

Rifle Supression
Fire a barrage that pins down a target, granting reaction fire against it and imposing a 30 penalty to aim



Despite missing nearly every one of his shots, Enjolras was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. His choice is as follows:

Lightning Reflexes
Force the first reaction shot against this unit each turn to miss.

Close and Personal
Confers +30% critical chance against adjacent targets. The bonus declines with distance from the target.



Dee's superb performance against the undead threat earned her a similar promotion. Like Enjolras, she can choose between these two specialties:

The sheer amazement of seeing him actually hit anything convinced the brass of awarding Grantaire the rank of Sergeant as well.

Gunslinger
Confers 2 bonus damage with pistols.

Damn Good Ground
Confers +10 Aim and +10 Defense against enemies at lower elevation, in addition to the usual elevation bonuses.



Rounding out our promotion fest is Landis, also achieving the rank of Sergeant. Her choices are as follows:

Shredder Rocket
Fire a rocket that causes all enemies hit to take +33% damage from all sources for the next 4 turns. However, this rocket has a weaker blast compared to a normal one.

Suppression
Can fire a special shot that grants reaction fire at a single target. The target also suffers a -30 Aim penalty.

Unfortunately, things aren't all sunshine and rainbows. Our satellites have picked up a UFO round the skies of Nigeria.









I've been trying to convince Stargazer to play this on all the monitors everytime we launch our Interceptors. So far, no luck.

Well, I'm not an Assault myself, but if I were, my instinct would be to choose Lightning Reflexes. Crits are worthless if you're dead. I mean, you're probably going to have somebody fire a reaction shot at you at SOME point, so a GUARANTEED avoid of that would help you survive to actually get into position to shoot, right? Maybe that's just me and my burning atheistic hatred and mistrust of the RNG, as well as my tendency to play defensively though. Hang on, let me check to see what people who've actually played the game say on this.
