Lets Hunt Witches: TINY HUNT (mafia)

So I may get this confused between this game and the other version of this I am modding elsewhere. Fun for the whole family [Citation Needed].

    Roles

    Town
Town wins when all Witches are dead. There are 10 town players.

Priest: Each night, check if a player is in the coven.

Acolyte: At the start of the game, you learn who the Priest is.

Judge: At the end of day, if the Lynch vote is tied or no lynch, you may pick a player to kill (note: this is NOT a lynch and does not count towards vigilante)

Vigilante: The first Night after townies die to lynches on consecutive days, you may kill a player. A Vigilante kill appears the same as a regular Witch NK.

Oracle: Each night, pick a player. If that player was visited by any other party, you learn how many Witches were alive at the start of night. (any kill, priest check, clown throw, angel protect - inc. a deathcurse blocked angel protect).

Martyr: You may kill yourself to prevent another player from dying, unless they were killed by a Soup Kill. A Martyr save is obvious.

Leeroy: You may kill yourself to immediately determine the Lynch target, so long as a majority has not been reached. A Leeroy lynch is obvious.

Pope: At the end of a night where 4 or fewer players are alive, you learn which living players are in the coven.

D.O.B.: When you die, choose another player to die with you. A DoB Revenge kill is obvious.

Clown: Each night, you may throw a pie at a player. The player hit is informed that the Clown threw a pie at them. If you hit the Pope or Leeroy, they are also told your identity.

    Witches
Witches win when all townies are dead or nothing can prevent this from happening. Witches can freely communicate with each other and have a nightly kill. There are 3 witches.

Demon: Each night, you are informed of who the Priest and Oracle visited, but not who visited which player.

Occultist: Each night, you are informed of the Angel's Protection target.

Necromancer: Each night you learn the roles of players killed by the Witch Night Kill.

    Mechanics

Timing: Day will be 72-96 hours, while night will be 24 hours. Or whenever I stumble online after deadline has passed.

    -

Lynches: Lynches are Majority and there is no soft lynch. Deadline lynches are a Thing. Ensure that you are clear when lynch voting - Unclear lynch votes will be assumed to be immediate.

    -

Deaths: Roles are not revealed upon death.

    -

Soup: At night, instead of making the group Night Kill, a witch may instead choose to drink Soup. Doing so allows them to Match a player to an Innocent role one at a time until they are incorrect or choose to stop. Each correctly Matched player dies.

A successful Match will only give the 'so and so died' message. On an incorrect match, the message is 'Xanthippe the Witch attempted to Soupkill Yolanda the [incorrect role], but failed', but if no players have been killed that night with Soup, the identity of the Witch is not revealed - 'A Witch attempted to Soupkill Amelia the [incorrect role], but failed'.

    -

Lump, the Faithful Panda: On Day 1, there is a plurality vote for Lump to be a player's friend (witches choose who wins a tie). Lump always Lynch votes the same as his friend, adding an extra vote. If Lump's friend dies, Lump leaves the game.

    -

Angels: Dead players become Angels. Each Night, the Angels decide by plurality vote to Protect a player (tie = no protect). A Protected player can't die to regular kills that night (vig/witch nk). "No Protect" is a valid vote.

Angels get the results of Priest checks at the end of each night. Angels are unable to give Protection when there are four or fewer living players at the start of night.

    -

Death Curse: Once per game during Day, dead Witches may cast a Death Curse, which renders any Protection that Night ineffective. After casting a Death Curse, the Witch may not vote any further in Angel chat (but can still post in it). Living players are not informed of a Death Curse. Angels are not informed of a Death Curse until the end of that night.

    -

Witches Last Gasp: If a Witch dies to a standard lynch (not judge or leeroy), their power continues to work for the coven that night.

    -

Night Kill Survival: If a player survives being killed at night there is no public announcement made. However, the player is told privately that they survived.

So there are 13 players, three are bad guys, and the bad guys can theoretically kill the entire village in one turn if they get lucky with soup? I know who I am putting my money on!
  7. soundlyParanoid Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Getting unlucky with the soup past the first kill outs the witch. Its more a desperation thing and an anti-claim measure.

YES. excellent. We have all 13 people.

I'll make quicktopics and send them out, but I'm going to have to hold off on starting the game until wednesday evening. One more thing - please confirm you have your role in your conversation with me, not in thread. Roles will be going out periodically over the next 24 hours.

Edit: All Roles should be out. Toss me a line if I somehow managed to miss you. The game will start at 7:00 PM cst, November 28th, or in 22 hours and 25 minutes.

The general goal of the game is for the goodies to find all the baddies, and the baddies to sneakily kill off the goodies. It involves a lot of figuring out who you think is what, bluffing, lying and trying not to give too much away.

Day One: How to Play Tinyhunt

Thank you for purchasing Tinyhunt for use with your Forum Entertainment System (FES for short). Please read the enclosed instructional booklet so you get the most satisfaction out of your game.

    Story

Once upon a time, in the kingdom of Bloben, there was a small village. This village was like any other, blessed with adventurous youth and wise old men to guide them and then kick the bucket after the first quarter of the tale was finished. Its single shop only sold the most basic of goods. Its people would walk back and forth exhibiting no great desire to get anywhere and they would comment on the same thing over and over.

And as the days wore on, and the children grew into teenagers who eventually left on their world spanning adventures, things seemed idyllic in their quiet little starting town. But soon the villagers were beset by strange creatures wearing robes died black and which wore spiked black hats with a wide brim. They witches, a horrible calamitous plot device that was meant to provide the heroes with the emotional impetus to destroy whatever great evil plagued the land at the time.

Having arrived late, and thus having missed their only chance to appear in the plot - and therefore have a reason to exist, the witches decided they would instead send the youngest of their lot on a journey of their own to conquer evil, the eldest would dispense useful advice, and the middling one would sit around and eat pies all day and night. The villagers questioned if it was wise for creatures that had a rigidly set reason for existing in their world to suddenly change what precisely they were meant to do.

The witch elder, ever crafty, suggested a game then to decide if they would be allowed to pursue their new Reasons, and that the game would to be played thusly:

There will be Thirteen players. Three of them are the witches. Alternating between a day and night cycle, the town and the witches will take turns eliminating others. If the villagers happen to locate the witches - which would be no small feat - then they would go back to their home and wait for the next hero to be born. If the witches emerged victorious, they would be granted the ability to rewrite their Reason, and have a new purpose in Bloben.

    Tinyhunts Controls

To play tiny hunt is very simple. To place a vote one would simply, in bold, type VOTE: <Playername>. For example:

    Vote: soundlyParanoid

If one wishes to unvote, you would do the following:

    Unvote: soundlyParanoid

Lynches are determined by majority. To put it simply, if half + 1 of the living players vote for someone, they are lynched automatically. However, if you do not wish to end day early but votes are piling up on your lead suspect/lead schmuck, one may always use a deadline vote, which is done as thusly:

    Deadline Vote: soundlyParanoid.

Deadline votes, as the name implies, only count as votes at deadline, and thus will not trigger a hammer that would outherwise end day.

Lastly, during the first day you must elect someone to receive Lumpy the Faithful Panda. Unlike the lynch vote, the elect vote is by majority, and to denote that you are electing someone instead of plain old voting them you would type the following:

    Elect: soundlyParanoid

    Victory Conditions

The town wins when all three witches are 'dead', i.e removed from play.

The witches when if they either have a simple majority over the living villagers (think 2v3), or if there are equal numbers of living witches vs. living humans, the judge must be dead.

Those witches! Who do they think they're fooling with this silly game? They'll use their devious ways to win unfairly, and once they do, our sweet little town will be overrun with curses and black-market mana potions. And look here, I lost my panda! And I bet it was one of them witches what took 'im.

So, the more people that enter the race for Lumpy, the more likely we'll have a tie, and the witches can use that to their advantage. But, since we outnumber the witches, we want more townies in the pool so that it's less likely we choose one (or two or -- ugh -- three) of them. In that case: Elect: Matthew Schempp. I'll leave it up to the rest of you to choose the correct candidate (which is me).

Also, I'll wait until everyone speaks before I vote. That's only fair.

  39. Nate Worked The System

Would the witches give Lump to a witch or a townie?
  40. AaronSofaer Magister Mundi Elyscape

Weeeeel, one'd think they'd give it to a witch, for that'd give the witch more witchin' way to do her witching. But ifn they knew we'd think that, they mighta decide, give it t'a townie! For so's we votes for him, would be a real "welcome to Bloben" kinda welcome.
