So no sooner then I leave the Poke Mart, after stocking up on Potions of course, I'm ambushed my this lady

Oh turns out it was Falkner, I just didn't recognize him sideways. Anyway, he gives me his number which is awesome because it means I can come back here later on and fight a much stronger version of his team. If I manage to live that long anyway. So after all those events get done with I can finally move again and I'm off south to Azalea.

Awesome, he lets me by without *too* much hassle and I get a present! Miracle Seed isn't that useful now as I've yet to capture a Grass Pokemon but it's something at least. I don't know if the Choice Items, Life Orb, etc made it into this game so these small damage-boost items might be my best bet for sweepers so I'm obviously happy to get as much as I can.

I meet this delightful couple further on down the road,



My first double battle! This is definitely new to the HG upgrade, in the older games you had to just fight these trainer battles consecutively. I easily win and I'm off south again until I reach a fork in the road.



I go right because I MUST EXPLORE EVERYWHERE (seriously if I find the right way in a game I'll turn around and go the other way incase I missed anything). Turns out there's a pier and I find these 2 fisherman and an item off in the distance that I simply must have.



First fighting time though.



I'd like you all to meet Randissimo, in spirit anyway. I say this becuase



He fights me with 3 Magikarp! Almost his whole team except for the Feebas that the mod added in, which is basically the Magikarp clone that Gen 3 introduced. I thought this was funny given what we were just talking about in the thread :)

And now for an important question. Randissimo, do you want me to catch a Magikarp for you to be? I had no idea you felt so strongly about them, I can go back up to the previous town and grab one since I have an old rod *but* you will definitely be evolved come lvl 20. So your choice :)

The double battle system is really neat. I just don't know why they never team up with YOU against the third guy XD

Magikarp are my favourite pokémon. James's Magikarp in the anime left a lasting impression on me. Such a badass.

Heh, you only got low because the last magikarp was lvl 15 and knew Reversal of all things. After it actually hurt you I started using thundershock instead of tackle, the fight wasn't really a contest at that point :)

Ok so it turns out that item was a Great Ball, which is a pretty nice find



but not nearly as nice as the thing I found on the way up to that Great Ball



Ok, now I definitely need to find a Grass Pokemon somewhere! But first we gotta go back to Violet City to catch a Magikarp. On the way back we find a trainer using one of my favourite pokemon ever, Elekid



Korran finally evolves



And we meet this weirdo, who insists on Roaring at me for a good 5 minutes



But it turns out ok because I get another TM. TM's are able to be used as much times as you like now, at least I'm 95% sure that's the case in these new games, so getting a nice selection is awesome! Finally we get back to Violet City and catch out new friend!



Meet Randissimo, his adament nature means he'll have high Attack while forfeiting Sp. Att. Pretty much the perfect nature for a Sweeper Gyrados and I have high hopes for him. He'll be stuck with an Exp. Share for the meantime however. It's definitely looking like Edel is going to be a Glacion or Leafeon at this stage, it'll be fun to play with the new Eeveelutions and I've never actually used an Eevee as itself before so this could turn out awesome! or horrible, please don't turn out bad

So we find our way back south heading towards Union Cave, where we can capture another friend (even though the party is 6 strong right now thanks to that damn egg). On the way we meet another weirdo

Even if I had the money I wouldn't buy that thing you sick bastard. But I get over my trauma pretty quickly because the Poke Centre of presents is up next.



This guy gives me Lure balls for saying I love collecting Apricorns (I've only just realized now after all these years that they aren't Acorns, the things you learn eh?), even though I secretly hate it I know what to say to get free stuff :)



Then I also get Water Pulse, which is a move about on par with Water Gun but also confuses which is pretty awesome. This time I didn't lie, Water Pokemon are the shit. And then it's off to Union Cave, I grab a Soothe Bell outside first though. This item makes the Pokemon holding it grow friendlier and happier way faster then normal, which I'll be giving to Edel because I should hopefully be getting a TM for Return soon enough.



And we meet our next friend!



Meet Flonne, our bashful Machop! Bashful is one of the 4 or 5 natures that doesn't confer any advantage or disadvantage to Pokemon stats. Flonne is regulated to bench-warmer duty for the time being because I'm really curious to see what is in that egg (I mean it could be a Togepi I'd normally never both hatching or the mod could have changed it into something sweet).

Obviously you get skipped over if someone specifically wanted something I just caught. If you aren't on the list and want to be, then just post and I'll add you in! Just a warning, since I can only catch one Pokemon per route (and it has to be the first one I see) you might not ever get added in if you only want one specific Pokemon rather then say a type of Pokemon :)

Gotta admit, not too jazzed about the idea of Leafeon (crossing the sea and a couple caves are really the only time Grass has any enduring use in the main story, Ice and Poison and Bugs and Flying run rampant in Johto, it's ineffective on Steel and Dragon....meh), and Glaceon is nearly an endgame endeavor since you missed out on it in Sprout Tower, so you're kinda backin' me into a corner, here!

Also, unless the mod changed it, TMs only become reusable in Gen 5; HGSS is Gen 4. :(

Yea I kinda really want a Glacion right now, the mod has changed it so that you can buy an item to turn it into one, so I'm holding out hope I'll be able to buy one in Goldenrod. If not... Well we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Really sad about the TM thing, I'd better go check that now.

A lvl 1 Togepi with an Impish nature (which will lower her Special Attack to increase Defense). Could be useful but certainly not right now. Sorry Toko but you are being benched and Flonne's getting called up to the big leagues. I'm already carrying Magikarp as deadwieght *ahem* I mean most awesomest pokemon ever so that slot in my party is taken! You'll get some Exp while I finish Union Cave though, so there's that.

Shit, well I already have an entry written up for Torchic that I was going to post up in a little while once I get home to upload the screenshots but now you guys have me awfully tempted by the idea of a full-Water run. I do have a save state of before I picked the Pokemon still so I can go back and grab a Mudkip and do this. Let me know what you think people, since I know some people might prefer I have a nice selection of Pokemon for them to be!

I also don't want to replace people, so I'll only be adding further Water types pending eventual deaths, if that is the decision.

To be fair, dual-types aside, a one-type team does sound potentially dangerous for a Nuzlocke run.

To be honest I love the idea of a single-type team, especially in a Nuzlocke run (permanently dead Pokemon is the only way I can play these games now). Water would probably be your best bet aswell bar fighting and it would be an interesting challenge. The only reason I don't want to do it is that people want to be other types of Pokemon and I want to make this interesting for people to read, not just for me to play :)

Meet our Torchic, Randomletters!



His Mild nature means he boosts an increased Sp. Attack while forfeiting some Defense. I'm almost tempted to keep him as a Torchic because of this (fun fact: Higher evolutions of this tree lose access to all the cool Fire-type special moves that only Torchic can learn) but unfortunately the low defense in a Nuzlocke run is just asking for trouble so he needs the bulk of his later forms.

I then go exploring the town, since that usually results in presents!



TM46 contains Thief, which is honestly a pretty useless move. Unfortunately this is all the town has to offer but given how much of a jackpot the PokeCntr was I'm not too bothered :)

Meet YonYonYon, the Ekans! His Rash Nature lowers his Sp. Def to improve his Sp. Att, so is completely wasted on an Ekans but who cares, it's Ekans! God the memories of the anime are coming back to haunt me now. YonYonYon goes straight to the bench with Flonne and Toko though, unfortunately I can't have room for everyone!

Oh and because I got Torchic at lvl 15



God he looks hilarious, I mean the first form looks cute and the final form looks awesome but seriously Nintendo? This is what we get in the middle? He learnt Double Kick though, so now I'm a bit afraid to say anything to him about it :/
