You are so lucky. Where I went to school as a kid if no one had frozen to death yet everyone considered that winter a good one.

All we get is coastal winds so strong you can near against them. And technically Jutland is trying to crash into Sweden veeeeeeery slowly. Because of the wind.

    Yes.
The snow in my backyard was piled so high that my parents wouldn't let me outside because I would disappear.

Winter and snow itself I can take in moderation and enjoy. Blizzards? FUCK NO.

Edit: JESUS THAT BLIZZARD. I remember being stuck in traffic when it started and we just made it home and then it got terrifying.

Once a second thought I won't try to study in Finland next year.

WE HAD WINDOWS 95 AND ALL WE WERE ALLOWED TO DO WAS USING PAINT.
(Well, okay, there were some games on floppy disks, but my dad had only the scary ones so I create empires with my toys and read books.)

MY FAMILY HAD WINDOWS 98 AND A FREDDI THE FISH GAME. Freddi The Fish games were so great.

Ever played Putt-Putt Saves The Zoo? Or the Blue's Clues CD-ROMs?

Oh! Did anyone have Lion King? I LOVED Lion King! I think that was Windows 95. We did get 98 later.

WE HAD A DIAL-UP CONNECTION and windows 95 AND I WASN'T ALLOWED ON THE INTERNET FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES SO ALL I PLAYED WAS MY LITTLE PONY GAMES

    WHEN I GOT A '98 I BOUGHT LEGOLAND.
    IT'S LIKE PLAYING WITH LEGO.
    BUT ON A PC.

And the Mulan one. Also there was a cool spanish serie of videogames which taught maths and spanish, so someone lend me those. I liked them.

I loved Putt-Putt Saves The Zoo. I can't remember any Blue's Clues, but we had Pajama Sam 2.

Does anyone remember those virtual pet CD-ROMs you used to get with Captain Crunch? Those were boss.

God, the good old days with floppy disks. You never had to worry about 'safely disconnecting hardware' back in those days.
  14. Davian Korran Hatoful Pigeon

I remember Duke Nukem. I think my brother played it. And the well-known Arcanum misshap a bit further down the line.
  15. Randissimo Hatoful Pigeon

Remember begging your mom or dad to buy a cereal box you for cereal you hated just for the cd game in it?

That's how I got Candyland for my 98. I only played it for the minigames after a while. Fuck the board game aspect, I had the real thing for that, give me the minigames.
  16. Eboby Already Beat BF's New Expansion

I remember Warcraft II. My dad got it for my brother and I, but he ended up playing it more than we did.

    Those were simpler times.

I never got my video games from cereal, but I got one of those reflection hologram watches with penguins on it in fourth grade and it lasted for like 2 years despite getting waterlogged every other week and stepped on and shit.

Stuff used to be so sturdy.

"The Nintendo 64 has a life warranty of four years."

I've had mine for over twelve and it still runs smoothly. :D

And I dropped that thing several times, my siblings would throw the controls in fits of rage, and those still work fine, too.

    Good times.
  19. Jackrabbit Magister Mundi Elyscape

Heh, I mostly played DOS games - Rayman, Jazz Jackrabbit, Simon the Sorcerer, Lomax. When we've upgraded to 98 (at year 2002 or so, by the way) I was so excited at all the new games~! Pink Panther Games, those were fuuun. There was this humorous/satirical game called Piposh, it was like SNL on crack. I love that game.
Elfaleon, Randomletters, Bec and 4 others like this.
  20. Antiqua Magister Mundi Elyscape

Rayman! I never played the first one, but my brother beat the other two - I just watched and tried to annoy him.

I remember that I was really excited when Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone came out. Even if had a silly graphic and a lot of bugs.
And buying cereals only for videogames was a must.
  21. Davian Korran Hatoful Pigeon

The funniest part was the mouths never moving when they spoke... and block hands... and the Danish dub was hilarious. They gave Ron the ONE dialect that screams city slicker in the entire country. It was hilarious.
  22. Jackrabbit Magister Mundi Elyscape

Hehe, everyone kept saying "Oi" and "brilliant" to remind us IT'S BRITISH. It was pretty bad, but quite easy, so I forgave it. Easy games have their merits.

Rayman, for example, is not easy. It's traumatizing. I had to call my older sister for some of the levels because my nerves were not up for the task. Damn disappearing clouds! YOU CAN'T TRUST ANYTHING.
  23. Eboby Already Beat BF's New Expansion

I played Rayman, but it paled in comparison to my love for Spiro. Being a purple dragon was everything I had ever wanted from life, and that game delivered.

    Nostalgia wagon?
I envy you for having a computer when you were still children, I had to go to my cousin to play with point-and-click games like simon the sorcerer and monkey island. I actually got my computer when I was 13 already.
  25. Jackrabbit Magister Mundi Elyscape

I tried, I really did, but I kept pressing the wrong buttons and running into walls, it was too much for the meek gamer I was back then. You had to press like three keys in rapid sequence, my fingers kept tripping.

I'm going to sit over here in the Banjo-Kazooie camp and nothing anyone says can woo me out of it.
  27. Davian Korran Hatoful Pigeon

Never had a consol. My parents work in programming, though so there was always a pc. I was usually more busy with jigsaws and My Beautiful Horses or Belville, though.
  28. Jackrabbit Magister Mundi Elyscape

MONKEY ISLAND! It was funny even when I got about 40% of the jokes! Very useful for learning English, point-and-click adventures. Where else could I learn the word 'morsel'?

Poor you, deprived childhood! You must buy an XBox to compensate. All games come for the xbox first, that's how good it is (hehe~).
  29. Randissimo Hatoful Pigeon

Ew, XBox. I love some of the games for it, but outside of their computers and Office programs, I want nothing to do with Microsoft, they bought and ruined my childhood. (RareWare, why? Sob.)

I also trust Nintendo platforms more, followed by Sony.

I'm sorry, I'm biased. I just heard way too many stories about the dreaded Red Ring Of Death.

I've had an Xbox for years (I own both the original and the 360), and I can assure you that you won't get a red ring unless you actually mess with your Xbox 360. Hacking games or dropping it will probably give you one, but honestly they aren't that fragile. I've dropped mine once with no issues aside from breaking the game inside (sob).

I like them, but I'm also a fan of Sony. My PS2 was the first actual game console I ever got, and it still serves me (mostly) faithfully <3
  31. Davian Korran Hatoful Pigeon

I am more pissed at Activision. THEY MURDERED TROIKA. They MURDERED the guys who made FALLOUT, who made ARCANUM.
Sedrine, Antiqua, Bec and 4 others like this.
  32. Randissimo Hatoful Pigeon

BROKE THE GAME? WHAT IS THIS.

Back in my day, you could split the cover of a 64 cartridge, keep it together with an elastic and the game still ran perfectly.

And you could drop that mofo and it wouldn't break.

I'm actually annoyed by how fragile CDs are, but they can hold considerably more data, so I'm willing to suck it up if it means playing awesome games like DAO Ultimate edition.
  33. Eboby Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Everything dies on me, so I just wait for a console to be cheap or a gift before I get it. I'm still working my way through a list of PS2 and DS games I want to play.

IN ITS DEFENSE the game was actually running at the time. My father walked by and accidentally kicked the console over. It probably wouldn't have broken otherwise.
  35. Randomletters Already Beat BF's New Expansion

All those good old adventure games.

  36. Jackrabbit Magister Mundi Elyscape

PS in all it forms always got stuck and slow at me, the Xbox at least TRIES. Plus most guys I know have PS2/3 so I can just leech theirs. XBox and it's games are pricier around here, so only dedicated gamers have em. I will confess it was given to me, I'm not I'd have bought it myself.

Guys, all this nostalgia talk made me poke around my room.

I found Pokemon: The First Movie. Mewtwo vs Mew.

    On VHS.

It still has the 'New Release' sticker on it.

Time to find my VHS player.
  38. Haniel Already Beat BF's New Expansion

I, um, totally read that as Captain Crotch for some reason.
  39. Randomletters Already Beat BF's New Expansion

I have the first three movies here!

    We should stream them all.
  40. Haniel Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Are there like thirty movies by now, though?

(Can we also watch the preceding shorts as well?)
