Although it angers me a lot of people are going "Tintin is gay!" just because he never showed interest in a woman the whole series. Let me specify I'm not mad about the fact they're questioning his sexuality: I'm FURIOUS they're bringing the concept of sexuality and sex into the series at all. Stop looking at it that way, holy frick, the series is about having an adventure and never writing a news article about it, fuck romance it had no place in there (outside of La Castafiore's crush on Capitaine Haddock, that was funny).

YES. THIS. ALL OF THIS. I have no idea why people have to think sex into EVERYTHING, including an adventure series for kids. Though amusingly the last discussion I had on this was a friend who thought Hérge was a pathetic weakling whimp because he had a breakdown when he was set to deliver a page per week. She wouldn't listen when I said a week isn't that long to plan a page, even out the action, make sure it ends on a cliffhanger, draw it, clean it, colour it, get it mass-produced. He didn't have assistents at that stage. Don't ask me what the poor man did to anger her so much.

Tell me about it. I remember running into this article titled "Is 'Brave' princess gay?". Because she likes archery and doesn't wanna get married (and she's 16, obviously she MUST be super interested in sex right now!). I was so filled with RAAAGE, I was speechless. It's a sweet movie about a mother-daughter relationship, about acceptance and listening to people you care about, and other problems arising between teenagers and their parents. Why must sex be involved at all?? Even I am not that obsessed, what the fuck is wrong with these people?!

Wow. Seriously? That is super messed up. By that definition, I'm gay because I'm 22 and I've never had a boyfriend or gone on a date or had sex (I'm a virgin and proud of it!) That doesn't mean I'm asexual either. It just means that I have too many other things I want to do right now to go actively searching for a boyfriend. There are other reasons too, such as thinking that I'd rather be chased by a guy than be the chaser in the relationship. (Despite what pop culture would have you believe now, I think there's just as much power, if not more, in being the one being pursued because it gives you the power to say 'no', deciding the outcome of the relationship.) Not many guys have shown an interest in me like that just yet and the ones that have I either haven't been interested in or haven't been worth my time, which I would say shows I have standards and respect myself enough to be willing to wait. Moreover, I see dating as trying to find someone to get married to, and as I'm not ready to get married yet, dating now would just be setting myself up for heartbreak when there was an eventual breakup because we weren't ready to take the next step in the relationship. Also, I'm a big believer in being best friends before making the relationship a romantic one, so I'm not that worried about searching for a guy. If I meet a really great guy who I'm interested in that way, I'll worry about it then. Why stress over it now? Plus fictional guys are way better than a real one could ever be, am I right?

I hope no one gets out of this that I'm saying that there's something wrong with you if you are dating young or whatever, but I just wanted to say that there are alternate options that a lot of people don't seem to consider because obviously if something is right for you that means that there's obviously something wrong with anyone who isn't following the exact same path as you with the exact same timing. [/sarcasm] Not everyone is super interested in marriage either. I'm not opposed to the idea, but I'm not entirely sure I want to get married either. If I meet someone I want to get married to and they feel the same way, great! If not, that's fine too.

Sorry, that got a little tangenty (I seem to be doing that a lot today), but I just felt the need to articulate all of my thoughts on the matter.

I'm gonna ignore the whole engagement thing to get upset about musician stuff. >:| You can't have nails like that when you're playing the violin (or any other stringed instrument, really)! If your nails are too long, it screws up your playing and no amount of fabulousness can save you. If you ever see a "violinist" with nails like Marlain's (or longer/pointier), they either really suck or they're not really a violinist.

My orchestra teacher always reminded everyone before prom that if they're going to do things with their fingernails, they should use fake nails and take them off before coming back to orchestra. I'm pretty sure he said he wouldn't let people play if they tried to play with them, too... :/a
