--honestly I really do think that Lysa diving in front of the car for him made him realize that he had a good thing going being married to her and having her want to be a genuine wife to him, and the effort he's been putting in since she woke up in the hospital has been genuine, just... really misguided (since he obviously can't figure out how to do anything without being high-handed and controlling; his method of getting Ebihara there and determining for himself the nature of Ebi-chan's feelings for Lysa really speaks for itself) and much too little too late.

(Yes, he'd begun changing his behavior before then, but I don't really see much in his previous confrontation with Lysa that would have changed his mind that much, so I think that may have been more of a "we obviously expect different things out of this marriage, but we're married and I have no intentions of divorcing because I would lose face and have to make my own breakfast*, so I have to try to make this livable" thing - once again executed really poorly.)
