The Koichi route really hasn't upset me at all yet. I'm just interested to see where this is going. Is it odd that I found Ebihara's route way more distasteful than I'm finding Koichi's so far?

Unless this woman is blackmailing you into sleeping with her and the reason you refuse to touch Lysa is guilt, I shall sick Fluttershy on you.

I was thinking maybe he was already in a relationship with her/she's having his child and that's why he won't leave her (the marriage was arranged, so maybe he was torn from her?), so I mean.
In his mind, it might be perfectly okay to be with this other woman that he genuinely has feelings for while pretending to maintain a relationship in front of his parents with this STRANGE WOMAN.

I almost kind of wish I hadn't gone ahead and played the route now. I can't join in on the speculation any more! D:

Without going into detail on things that haven't been shown in the LP yet... we do get some explanations for a lot of Koichi's behavior as the route goes on, but from the perspective of the end of the route I don't think they all line up consistently with all the things he does, and there are a few things that we don't ever directly get to hear his reasoning for.

Why exactly he shuts down so hard on the protagonist once they're married is one of those things. I can make some educated guesses based on the stuff the route does explain, but his frame of reference is tilted enough that some of his logic just does not quite resemble our earth logic.

...honestly I'm not entirely sure Koichi himself understands why he does some of the stuff he does.

And I'm honestly the least upset with protag seeking comfort elsewhere while still being married. *shrugs* if he was trying to have an actual relationship then I'd get the upset about her cheating as it is...I don't see her cheating on anyone. There's no relationship there to begin with. They're not even friends!

These two lines ruined what defense I was going to make for him.



First point would have been that Koichi views it as a business relationship but here he states, "as a married couple". So as a, at least, somewhat personal relationship, he still disregards Lysa's choice/etc. In fact, it's probably because it's a marriage and not a business deal that he kind of steamrolls right over while treating her coldly as ''equality'' in this relationship. tldr; he didn't ask what Lysa wanted. He just assumed everything on his own and went with it.



BUT THEN WHEN SHE WANTS TO WORK. While I realize he isn't one of the main offenders, he still is part of the faction. His earlier statement in Ebi-chan's route, "Oh, she's going to quit." might have been a quick distraction to gain more time from his parents but the idea of him just deciding everything for Lysa is more consistent with what we've seen so far.

On the flip side, he didn't criticize her for spending time with Ebi-chan!

Reverse again, he criticized her for not coming home early enough to satisfy him despite him doing the same thing to Lysa their entire relationship. He probably didn't accuse Lysa about Ebi-chan because she kind of saved his life before we got to that.

I will give Koichi this one point in his defense - although we haven't gotten there yet in this route, unlike in Ebi-chan's, Koichi is actually fully supportive of Lysa keeping her job this time.

Which is not to say he's not incredibly hypocritical about that "I won't dictate how you spend your time" thing in other areas. -_-

Oh Koichi, you are just so thoughtful! I couldn't imagine why Lysa would ever want to leave you for another man.
