I'm trying to imagine myself in Lysa's shoes here, and honestly I don't think I could have held myself back from charging straight into the restaurant right then and there. It would cause a scene, sure, but... There is no way I could go on living my life as if nothing happened. Although, probably a better idea would be to wait until he got home that same night, and corner him as soon as he walks in the door. I'm also wondering exactly how much Lysa's approach to this situation is due to cultural differences and upbringing. Surely the average Japanese woman wouldn't go this far (I really don't know)?

I'd say it probably has to do with upbringing and a bit of personality. I mean, her excuses so far have been that a divorce would negatively affect other people, like her parents, rather than what she wants. And she places blame in herself for not doing good enough in the marriage. Her parents seem to be really, really, traditional, and if she's naturally kinda spineless then I think her parents would just reinforce that. But, I have to give her props for hanging onto her job rather than giving in to her parents.
