"I'm gonna write a mecha anime!" -> gigantic war fought using child soldiers. Main character uses the old 3.0 model mecha, which is easily destroyed but also easily manufactured. Her best friend uses the 8.2 model, a newer one with more maneuverability but less power. After her crush dies, she hijacks the main character's 3.0 robot and takes her place as the kamikaze attack on the enemy. She is replaced by someone who uses the 7.5 model and also is secretly a spy. Everyone dies. The end.
"I'm gonna write an A.I. story!" -> A girl tries to program a friend. After realizing that this is impossible, she becomes shuts herself up in her room and becomes a hikkikomori. The end.
"I'm gonna write a book about an android!" -> A girl learns that she is an android. She self-destructs. The end.
...
I-I can write stories that don't involve girls with incredibly self-destructive tendencies! I swear! ... E-Eventually...!

Long time ago, I found it via a Deviant Art meme of some sort (something 'bout getting a title out there and create a shoujo manga cover based on it), and I got several interesting titles that i saved in a text file. I don't know where the file is, but i still remember the awesome "Rose of Wedding Roses". I even created a concept for that title of a delinquent nikkei girl becoming semi-accidentally the model of a famed Wedding Dress store, a from then Pygmalion plot.
And now I got "Dear Alien Dreams". I don't know what to made of it. A shippy Homestuck fic?

Since this is an otome game, I know this isn't true (or it won't be by the end). It still feels strange now though.

Exactly. Ayato doesn't really act "special" or his actions towards you don't seem special until the near end. But at least he isn't Bad End guy. I would have thought his apparent normalness was masking a demented person underneath because Otome Games made me this way.

I don't know. His role as the obligatory ______guy just made me feel bad. Maybe that's why I didn't enjoy his routes too much.

I know he probably didn't mean to immediately guilt-trip Hitomi over taking him away from his fangirls, but that doesn't mean it isn't funny.

Ayato Kamishiro: He's so nice to everyone that you feel neglected.

I like that he is nice to everyone too. But as a potential romantic interest (at least in real life) I do want to be treated as special. Maybe I haven't earned it at this point yet and that's fine, but his behavior didn't bode well to me (even though given the context I know it will get better). When I date a guy irl if they seem to just date whoever I do lose interest quite a bit, because I kind of figure I am just one out of many they could be happy with. Is it rational? Not necessarily. Is it my emotional reaction? Sure, and I don't think it is invalid.

I once dated a guy who was the "prince of the school" type. He flirted a lot and even when we were dating he still flirted with my friends and was nice to everyone.


So I dumped him heheh

Every time this updates it makes me want to play the game, and I'm currently buried under a mountain of procrastinated paperwork.

It's been too long since I've payed Ayato's route, so I can't really comment much, but I will say there are times when kindness stops being something positive about a person's character and begins to turn into something of a flaw (like never saying "no"). I don't think this really applies to Ayato, or if it does, it doesn't come up in the story (at least not to my memory). There is a chapter in the manga about it, I think.

One thing I can say about Ayato for certain: played his Friend Route, felt more feelings than I should have considering I'm not too terribly crazy about his storyline (or pretty much any backstory along those lines), then went through his Romantic Route, then started thinking about the Friend Route again, keeping in mind the whole "he's too nice to make anyone intentionally sad" thing, and when I realized he probably lied and what he lied about my heart broke all over again.

edit: My shoujo manga's title is Magical Broken Dress. Seems fitting (though I might replace "dress" for "mess").
