I can't speak for others, but I don't hate Ayato. It's not like he's agreed to go on vacation with me just because I asked first or refused to get back together with me pretty bastard.

He's an earnestly kind guy (which, if you sort between all the childhood yanderes, is rare enough), but he's also a bit of a wallflower. A pretty wallflower, but a wallflower nonetheless.

And don't worry, once the Ayato wheel starts turning people will be reaching for tissues.

I don't hate Ayato either. I just have a particular button that he is pushing at the moment. I actually like him pretty well. Don't spoil it for others but I've actually played and screen-capped his whole route at this point. I'll still be LPing like I don't know what happens (like I did on every other route). But he grew on me as I played through his route.

Just signed up to apologize to the players of this game.

I'm the main translator and project leader for this game's translation patch and I have read your comments on how my terrible English had affected how you feel about the game and/or the characters in the game. That is a horrible failure as a translator. And as Gertrude said, I am not a native English speaker so while I knew very well that this translation might not come out that good, I was stubborn and insisted on finishing it while I should have left it to other people to do.

Please don't blame the bad translation quality to the other editors. We didn't have enough editors to work on the project and it was my stupidity that I volunteered to do all the leftover work by myself to make the project done in a timely manner. So I insisted on editing the scripts when my English totally sucked, instead of asking for more help which was very hard to find. (And all the translated scripts and the editors' edited work were final edited by me.)

I will keep this mistake in mind and promise to think more carefully and thoroughly if I ever plan to release my other translations to public.

I personally apologize to GertrudeTheRobot as she was one of the contributors to this project but with my incompetence, the finished work turned out to be dissatisfying.

    My deepest apologies.

    ---

That's all I wanted to say. Please don't mind me. As this discussion was posted publicly, I thought I should post my apology to everyone who read this thread.

(Nothing serious about this. I've been lurking around for a while so I think I know the nature of this forum. My English is just kind of suck that I'm too afraid to join. Plus, I have bird phobia so that probably explains why. :P Anyway, since I've played as so many female protagonists in otome games, I think I should be brave and accept my failure without having other friends be blamed for things that aren't their fault. So here I am. ^_^)

Missed the English discussion, but I can say from my experience that if there were any problems with the translation, I didn't really notice it, and even if I did at the time, since nothing sticks out in my memory it obviously wasn't so bad that it detracked my enjoyment of the game.

That said, let me just thank you for translating this game in the first place (and credit to Gertrude, too). If you hadn't, I never would've played it. And I never would have realized how adorable baby chicks really are. And my world would be a sadder place for it. So thanks :)

Hey jjjewel, thanks for visiting the forum.

I'd just like to say how much I appreciate your efforts in translating and editing everything for us. You mentioned that it was pretty hard to find editors for this sort of thing and taking it upon yourself to get things done. That's a really great thing for people who have been dying to understand what the characters are saying, and overall, you did get the gist of their lines through to us.

Being stubborn can sometimes be a good trait - especially for me, waiting for some angel of translation to bestow recognizable words so I can piece together what the characters are saying :D I really hope you'll continue translating in the future (if you want to, of course). You'll likely get better at editing with more practice.

That said, I think translating is a very valuable skill and thank you for all you've done in getting the patch completed and out to us!

Personally, I don't think it's terrible English at all- it's all very sensible, there are very few (if any, I can't remember any off the top of my head) typos, and nothing was left untranslated. Ayato's speech can seem a tad awkward in word choice at times, but that happens a lot in games translated from other languages simply because they often use different grammar and cultural differences affect speech. Besides, it's sort of charming more than annoying.

Hehe. Thanks for understanding. ^_^ And sorry that it took me a while to discuss about this. I read the post a few days ago but couldn't decide if I should explain or just keep quiet. Anyway, I'm glad I could hear your opinions.

When I have time, I might LP some of my current otome game translations here. I've been translating a few games currently but the translations are still too rough to be made into translation patches. It still might be fun to LP them.

P.S. Check out the New PSP version of Love Revo if you haven't.

(Just click around the tabs. It might take a while for the pages to load, though.)
There is a new promotion movie and some new graphics. :)

**Gertrude, I think you're using the old patch (V 1.0) for this LP. There's a newer version with errors fixed (V 1.1) It might not make much difference but at least the new one should have less spelling/grammar errors. ^_^

Please don't be that hard on yourself. I barely have any idea how much work must have been necessary to complete an undertaking like your group did, but I can definitely appreciate the result nonetheless.

Unhappy with parts of your contribution you may be, but that doesn't change the fact that you helped bring something to fruition that may not otherwise had happened at all - and I truly wish to thank you for that.

Awww... I hope you don't get the wrong idea. I appreciate all the hard work you put into this game so much. As someone who had to drop out of the project due to outside things I could have put more time and work in to make sure everything was smooth as well. I was saying earlier in the thread that over the Christmas holiday I would be willing to look at some of the scripts that might not have been polished as much as others, if you would be open to that. :D You do things that nobody else can do with your knowledge of different languages AND your ability to hack. All I can do is make the English sound natural which is a skill that many have. I'm not even the most skilled editor, admittedly.

Let me know what you think. Everyone here really appreciates your hard work and sacrifice of time to bring awesome DS games to the English speaking public. We love you! :D

Welp let's get started again. Here we are in Jolly ole England!

Feel free to keep the conversation about how wonderful jjjewel is and how great her work for English speaking otome gamers is as well.

Oh yeah, Yuu and Rie are here too.

He IS very classy, so I am gonna go with yes.

I'm not sure if we covered this yet, but Ayato's dad is a mystery writer (of course!)

Ayato explains he knows quite a bit about London and would be glad to show the girl's around.

Where do we want to go first?

    Because Hitomi.

Yeah, whatever, let's just share. I guess.

    Stupid diet.

So Ayato goes and makes an order. When he brings it back it IS pretty big. Though it makes me wonder how big portions are in Japan. Probably quite small. I live in America so my perspective is probably distorted.

Shut up Rie. I could have eaten that whole damn thing.

    Ok sure. Let's get going.

I really wonder about the Japanese's liberal use of the word anemia. This is something I have noticed in other video games and anime as well.

But anyways! OH NO! AYATO! YOU OK BOO?

Let's uh...stop for tea somewhere! Because England?

Oh, alright. I'll come with you!

Oh honey. Don't you worry about my worrying. That is just too much worrying.

ACK! Every time this sprite comes up it makes me feel BAD.

Stop being dramatically sick now please.

    He disappears to the park.

    Uh... I'm not.

Oh Hitomi, you entertaining creature you.

Did I say you look like shit earlier? Well, I retract that statement.

    I retract it a lot.
  24. jjjewel Fresh Meat

There are two PSP versions. There is one that was already released a while ago which has pretty much the same content as this DS version but it is full voiced and has extra epilogues and CGs.

But the link I posted is for another one that will be release next year. From the web page, it's supposed to be a board game. It's kind of a remake of this version into a different type of game. (You can check the System page on the website.) This one has even more extra CGs.
  25. DreadCop Already Beat BF's New Expansion

That might well be one of the best CGs in the game.

Anemia seems to be the thing you have if you are feeling faint or just sickly in general. I have no idea where it comes from.
  27. jjjewel Fresh Meat

In my opinion, there won't be many people who'll bother to update the patch. And I forgot that updating the patch could mess up your save files. (Haven't touched the game for a while. :P) So I'd say if it doesn't bother you much, I'm pretty happy with the current patch. (I really can't tell how bad it is. But I thought I should apologize in case it might be really terrible. But if it wasn't that terrible, we can leave it as is. ^_^)

About the other game translations, I'll think about it. I feel like when I get others involved, it's like making a commitment to at least complete it and get it done with some acceptable quality which I'm currently not sure I'll be able to do that. (After Love Revo, I started many translations but got bored and abandoned them. Currently there are only a few that I might continue but I might get bored and abandon them, too. :P)

I might be away from the forum for a little while or might just keep reading only. (I think I know how addictive it might be once I joined the forum, so I'd better avoid that.) But thanks for a fun Let's Play thread. <3 I enjoyed reading the threads and your comments, too.

Anemia is when someone lacks sufficient iron in their blood. It can lead to quite a few consequences, namely your blood doesn't clot as quickly. (At least, that's what I remember being told.)

  32. videetcredere Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Anemia is a lack of red blood cells, and he's actually showing correct symptoms.

Why the hell they said Hitomi had it, I have no idea. Fainting only occurs in SEVERE cases of anemia.
  33. Skibblu Magister Mundi Elyscape

Oh. Maybe Japanese people as a population have iron deficiency? Since their diet consists mostly of vegetables and fish, not red meat. If that's the case, it might explain why it's just used as a stand-in for sickly.

I think they meant low blood sugar in that case? But anemia sounds more impressive/severe~

Chrome, why isn't anemia a word?!

Yes, all the bouts of anemia, colds and fevers serve to remind us that the average Japanese person has a very weak constitution. Which is why all us should strive to be MAXIMUM HITOMI. (I haven't played all the routes, but does she sick at all in this game? If not, huzzah for avoiding cliches!)

The main issue with anemia is the resulting low levels of oxygen from low red blood cell count. As a result, you can feel cold and fatigued (metabolism requires oxygen for energy).
