This looks like it's going to be fun! But kind of weird because Mcninja has the same first name as me. I don't find that often but when I do I always find it kind of odd.

Also, Prism should not trust others, always speak her mind and rely on intuition!

    Here's a thing:

Does anyone know how to rip sprites/pictures from PC games or ISO's? All the task animations are so freaking cute and I want to share them so bad ugghhh

Turns out PM5 has a weekly schedule instead of a monthly one, which is going to make this game a lot longer.

Like the other Princess Maker games you make your daughter either take classes (art, music, ballet, etc.) or part-time jobs (babysitting, housework, librarian, etc.) to raise her stats or make money.

    [IMG]: Good enough.

And here are her notes. They don't have much use at the moment.

Priz's closet, where we dress her up.

[IMG]: Whoever's been raising her for the past six months hasn't been doing it well at all (hope it's not me).
    C'mon gurl, we're going shopping.

Then I got her a puzzle game, Dragon Fantasy XI, and a dating game for boys called Tokimeki*GakuenRirika because why the heck not.
  6. Jvii Already Beat BF's New Expansion

I got home and saw that I only had 1620 yen.

I spent nearly all my savings on video games for my daughter.

I'm either the Best or Worst Mom Ever. You guys decide.
  7. Dokosu Already Beat BF's New Expansion

If my mother bought me a dating game I'd be pretty happy (•u•)

Can I say both? Because both.

Also, out of curiosity, can you raise your daughter to be a warrior in this one? Because that'd be pretty funny given the modern setting.
  9. Jvii Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Maybe? Your daughter can travel to other worlds and fight monsters when she reaches a certain age.

Wait. She can be a fucking space adventurer!? Holy crap, we need to start training her now in the art of beating the shit out of aliens!
  11. fadeaccompli Magister Mundi Elyscape

Maybe she can grow up to be a space adventurer video game champion vet! (Because just look at her with that doggy. Awwwwww.)

I'm just saying. It's good to have ambitions.

I dont know if we're voting on this but...

    1. Study eagerly
    2.Be kind to everyone
    3. Act decently
    4. Speak your mind
    5. Think before acting

Can we be a space warrior? OR PRINCESS? CAN WE BE A SPACE PRINCESS WARRIOR? CAN WE? EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
  14. Lady Octopus Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Wait, so, not only are we giving her video games, but also a dating game (albeit for boys, but we can still work with it)?

Is... is she going to be humanized Broken Forums? That's also Space Princess Warrior? *U*
  15. Lady Octopus Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Also, same here. It makes me sad there aren't really any games anymore where you raise animals. Though, I would extend the game to include other rodents people might want, like mice and rats, and possibly the occasional lagomorph.

  16. Tionivo Armchair Designer

I assume everyone is taking about game like princess maker style. However you raise animals in Harvest Moon, or a alien in Tamagotchi.

I was thinking more like with the "Creatures" games myself, of possibly Petz (the old ones, not the derivative new DS ones.) I miss those games. :(

Wait, wait, MC isn't some retired hero or warrior? And they're in Japan, not some generic fantasy land with romanceable dragons/demon/angels?

    Weiiird.
Loofofbread, Snark, Sarasha and 2 others like this.
  20. Jvii Already Beat BF's New Expansion

She is. She came from a parallel world and settled in modern Japan when she retired. The game doesn't explain this in the beginning, though.
  21. WilloWisper Elitist Negative Nancy

Aaah, okay. Still kind of strange though, to move the game to Japan. I assuming that you can visit to the other world right? Because, otherwise, this game will be quite different then the other games in the series.
  22. Carcosa Keeper of the Elemental Materials

Yeah, but it isn't until she's... 12, if I remember correctly that adventuring is unlocked. And sadly, the whole visiting other worlds thing is more along the lines of using magic to poof over there than space exploration.

The following is spoilered because I think about Princess Maker too much.

Free time choices are Talk With Your Daughter, Sleep, and Evaluate Friendships.
Talking with your daughter can either raise or lower stats, depending on her mood or the topic.

    [IMG]: Yes, Mother?

Conversation topics are Everyday Life, Studies and Work, Friends, How do you feel?, Your Thoughts, and Manners.

    Prism: Yawn...I'm kinda sleepy.

Choosing Sleep gives you three more choices: Sleep, Sleep Together, and Take a Bath Together. I hope to God those last choices are only there when you play as a mom.
Sleep Together might raise a stat or two, so let's go with that.

[IMG]: Yeah, let's sleep together! Will you tell me a story?
[IMG]: 'Course I will, Cutie Patootiekins.

Wait, what!? THEY MADE A NEW CREATURES GAME!? YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Given how creepy the previous Princess Maker games were, it wouldn't surprise me if you had even more options as a dad.

Pfff, I slept together with both my mom and dad when I was a kid.

...I think I got my own room when I was around her age though. Maybe about 10 or 11 years, I can't remember.
Lady Octopus, Snark, Sarasha and 2 others like this.
  26. Carcosa Keeper of the Elemental Materials

Also, yeah, "Take a bath with your kid" is still an option if you're playing as Dad. But that said, it never really struck me as really creepy because it's a cultural thing in Japan. They've got a "bathing culture", for lack of better terms, where it's okay to be naked in a public bath. If this were an American game, I think I might be a little suspicious, but... Since the Japanese cultural context says it's okay, I was perfectly fine with it.

That said, it also helps that your daughter is able to turn you down. though that probably won't happen until she's a few years older or more independent. So at the very least, you don't have to worry too much about the possibility of having a 16 + daughter being forced to take a bath with her dad regardless of whether she wants to or not.

The only thing I know about this game is that it's harder than the other ones because there is so much more option. MORE WAYS TO SCREW UP.

Why is Cube turning into animals to play with the little girl?!
  28. Carcosa Keeper of the Elemental Materials

Because, even in Japan, there aren't that many Demon Butlers running around in public? That and I guess he can't make himself look like a human.

Cube: Hello, Mistress. Today is the little Miss's first day of school. Although it is worrying to send out Miss by herself, we can see how she's doing through her hairpin.

    [IMG]: Wait, what?
[IMG]: Aha. The happy expression on the little Miss's face when she received the magic hairpin...She must've liked your first present to her very much. If the little Miss is ever in a tight situation, please help her.

[IMG]: Well, of course I will. That's why we gave her the hairpin in the first place, right? Right?

    Prism: I'll be back~!

    ---

Prism: (Huh? What's that kid doing? She's delivering........newspapers, I think?)

[IMG]: So the magic hairpin lets us read her mind, too?
[IMG]: (Oh, she's coming this way...)

Flashy Girl: Oi, you. I haven't seen your face around before. Transfer student?

    [IMG]: Y, yeah...
[IMG]: Then......you're on an unfamiliar road, heading towards a brand new life! Isn't your chest just bursting with anticipation and apprehension? ......Those kinds of feelings?
    [IMG]: I...guess?
[IMG]: Well, no need to worry. Here's a copy of The Emirin News. You'll fit right in if you read that.
    [IMG]: Th, thanks....
    Heh......What a lot of articles.
    Hmm..."A Ghost in the Theater!?"
"A Mysterious Fart During a Conference!?"
    "S-sensei's Failed Proposal to K-sensei!?"
[IMG]: .........For some reason, I think this will be a very interesting newspaper.
[IMG]: Yeah, it's pretty amazing. All you'll need to know all the happenings in this town is The Emirin News.
    Read the backside too, alright?
[IMG]: Backside? Oh, there are more articles in the back. Let's see....
    [IMG]: ...............
    [IMG]: WHAT'S WITH THOSE ELLIPSES
    AND THAT EXPRESSION
  30. Jvii Already Beat BF's New Expansion

[IMG]: Those are all articles about myself. They're a bit embarrassing~ but I figured readers would be interested.
    [IMG]: I s-see...Of course they'll be interested.
[IMG]: Hearing that makes me happy, thanks~
Oh, I'm not done delivering. I'll have to hurry hurry. See ya, then.
    [IMG]: ........She left.
    ........What a weird kid.

I hope Flashy Girl's lines make sense. They were a bit hard to translate.

Miyoshi-sensei: Good morning, everyone. I have a new friend to introduce to you today.

Miyoshi-sensei: This is McNinja Prism, a new transfer student. Now then, Prism, please introduce yourself.

    [IMG]: ......Ah........um.........
[IMG]: Mistress, the little Miss is embarrassed. Please give her some advice!
[IMG]: That sure is a magical magic hairpin.

Goddamn, how much of a helicopter mum are we?

Also, I hypocritically vote that we greet them energetically. If Prism is going to hunt aliens when she's older, she's gotta have a gungho, go-getter personality!

    Let's be charming!

also, about the bathing, I think she's more likely to decline if you play as the dad when she's a teen if I recall correctly.

I'd say you should try to be funny, but Prism really does look kinda anxious, and a bad joke poorly delivered does not a good first impression make. So I'll vote for an energetic greeting! Hopefully it doesn't freak her out when she hears her mom and/or Cube's voice out of nowhere.
  37. fadeaccompli Magister Mundi Elyscape

I agree with ENERGETIC. Because the best way to start the game is with PRINCESS ENERGY GO GO GO.

And I think that Flashy Girl's lines make about as much sense in your translation as they do in the original. I, for one, hope that this is our kid's future girlfriend. You have to admire a preteen who's sufficiently committed to journalism and self-confidence that she produces and distributes a newspaper with several local articles and half its text just about herself.

Admire from a safe distance, perhaps. But our kid is going to be brave! Even around quirky friends!
  38. Carcosa Keeper of the Elemental Materials

    Greet them energetically!

I'm sure that's what my own mother would whisper into my ear on the first day of school if she'd had a magical listening device that could read my mind and see everything I see.
  39. Pyrephox Elitist Negative Nancy

I also say energetically. The phrasing of 'try' to be funny bothers me, and I fear for our girl's reputation.
