Try to be funny never fails!
Unless ten year olds are normally much more unruly than I remember them being... I'd think that suddenly having your mother talking straight into your ear might be enough to get you to do what she tells you. Especially if you're nervous and have just been put on the spot.
Alternatively, Prism may end up going mad because Broken Forum is whispering commands into her ears over and over in order to get her to do things.
More specifically, telling her to romance things people.
I think we're just whispering advice to her through our magical headset hairpin. Like some sort of parental teleprompter. I don't actually know yet if in this game our daughter is so amazingly biddable that she always does what we say, either.
(I kinda hope not. Half the fun of Princess Maker playthroughs, at least for reading them, is when the little girl goes NOOOO DADDY YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME and runs off to flirt with a dragon or whatever.)
Sooo many memories of playing PM2, and having my daughter run away for a month at a time, wasting valuable hours in which I could have been exploiting her for salaries.
Can't imagine why she ran away, really.
Enthusiastically it is.
: Hello everyone! I am McNinja Prism, the new transfer student!! I hope we get along well!!!
: Kiddo, this is 5th grade, not the military. But good job.
Female Student: Hmm....Prism........I like your enthusiasm.
: Ew why are you talking like a pervy old man to my daughter
[Due to her energetic greeting, Prism's popularity has increased.]
After class (which Prism slept through)~
: Yahoo~~ I guess we're in the same class.
: Oh, you're that weir-- I mean, the girl who was delivering papers this morning?
: That's right. I'm Imagawa Emiri. Call me "Emirin".
: O, okay. Nice to meet you, Emirin.
: Nice to meet you too, Prism.
: (Calling me by my first name like that...It's as if we're close friends.)
: Do you have any questions? I know everything about this school.
: Mm, let's see....
> About the school
: Here at Shirasagi Academy, classes from elementary up to college are all taught at the same campus. Because of that, there's a lot of traffic between the schools, and sempai who have already graduated come by sometimes. The spirit of the school is relatively liberal, with their selling point being "A balanced education of mind and body and of individuality and knowledge". It's sometimes called the "Young Ladies' and Lords' Academy" since a lot of the kids here come from prestigious families. But my family just runs a clothing store, so it's pretty tough. They rarely fail anyone, so that's a bit of a relief. Well, studying is easy, but it's hard to find a reason to bother.
: Heh~ That's pretty amazing~~
> About our classmates
: Yeah, our class has some interesting kids, so let me tell you about them.
Emiri: First is Asakura Kenichi. Kenichi's our class rep and really smart. He's in the math club. He's kind, helpful, and studies a lot. Basically, he's what you might call a "good kid".
: Or, as I would call him, "the perfect boyfriend". Or, "the perfect husband".
: Mistress, isn't it too early to being thinking about things like that...
:Yeah, you're right. We don't even know how rich he is!
Emiri: Next is Kobayakawa Michiru. That girl is always full of energy. She's in the track club. She appears to be nice, but she's always quick to get into fights and can be pretty nosy sometimes. She's also Asakura's childhood friend.
Emiri: Then there's Sakikabara Hiroko. Hiroko's a quiet and mature girl with a great love for music. She's in the music club. She takes being friends very seriously, but she's a bit too clingy for me. They say her mother is a piano teacher.
Emiri: Next is Kuroda Hitoshi. He's the quiet juvenile boss. I don't think he's in a club. Rumor is that he gets into a lot of fights and all the neighborhood kids are afraid of him. He won't comment on it himself though, so I don't know how it really is.
: I bet he's like Kanji from Persona 4, pretending to be all manly and stuff but secretly likes playing with Barbies. Speaking of P4, I should really replay that game on my Prism's new Playstation 5.
: I'm sure there'll be more students once we get into junior high and people start transferring in.
: There's only five kids, including Prism, in this class? No wonder they accepted a student with no records from birth and a mom that has a job like "Ninja Doctor" so easily.
> About school events
: Our school has a variety of events, but they're usually no different from other schools' events. There is one different thing, though. You're only tested at the end of every semester from elementary school up to high school. There are no midterm tests. Overall, there aren't many tests, which is fine with me. Other than that, everyone goes camping together on Golden Week every year. We also have a field trip then. There's also an athletic meet and a school festival during autumn, and elections in winter, so make sure to keep checking the calendar.
: Well anyways, let's get along well, Prism.
: Y-yeah, let's...
THEY WILL NOT FORGET OUR PRISM-CHAN IS FROM A NINJA FAMILY WITH LEGAL ACCESS TO DRUGS
Yay, the new friends have been introduced. Kinda. :D
I say... try to befriend them all! Or at least Hiroko. She might be clingy, but I always thought she was sweet. It... may also help that she gave me gifts too. :P
The only other character that I have much of anything to say about is Kenichi. Hitoshi and Michiru never made much of an impression on me, save that it annoyed me if they got into fights with my girl.
Guessing "Greet them charmingly" impresses Kenichi, "Try to be funny" impresses Hitoshi, and "Be silent" impresses Hiroko, since "Greet them energetically" impressed Michiru (who I like best based on the brief descriptions).
Romance the girl who always gets into fights. She'll make the perfect companion while Prism travels the universe, beating up aliens.
I cannot argue with this. In fact, I support it whole-heartedly! Can they be a CRIME-FIGHTING DUO?
Or a crime-causing duo. Whichever.
Romance Befriend Hiroko, because meganes never disappoint.
Miyoshi-sensei: This is Kenichi, the class representative. If you have any questions, go to him.
: I am Class Representative Asakura Kenichi. It is a pleasure to meet you.
: Ah, it's a pleasure to meet you, too.
: Kenichi is at the top of the class, and a model student. Prism, you should follow his example and study hard, alright?
: Please don't flatter me so...I'm just an ordinary student.
: Nonsense. Your modesty is proof that you're a model student. Now, Model Student, why don't you give the new student a tour of the school?
: Oh, yes. Then, Prism, I will give you a tour of the school. Please follow me.
: Y, yes. (He really is a sincere person...)
Mature Student: Um.......Hello, Prism. Er, I'm Sakikabara Hiroko. Nice to meet you.
: Nice to meet you too, Hiroko.
: Um, I want to be friends with Prism......Would that be alright........?
: Yeah, of course!
: Really!? I'm so happy!!!! Hey, hey? Can I call you Prism?
: oh my god
that's the face of a yandere
the kind that cuts your face off to preserve 5ever
prizzy-bunny, back away slllooowlly
: Sure, Hiroko.
: If you need anything, just come to me. Even I can be a help, too, sometimes!
: Naw, Prism's face is just great right where it is now, thanks.
: Thanks. (She's really cute...)
: Don't be fooled!
Ho ho ho...
And to think that you signed your kid up for two piano lessons this week...
You're in HER territory now, Prism!
I've just seen the second OP (the one you get when the title screen is left on for a while) and screenshot'ed the people you can befriend. Spoilered because there are people we haven't met yet, and they show the kids as teenagers.
There are a total of 8 love interests for our little Prizzy-izzy, including two mystery characters(?)!
You guys thinking what I'm thinking?
Edit: Also, I just noticed it now,
Anabanana, but your avatar is perfect.
When the Priz is in the crib, ya gotta drop it like it's hot.
There is a partial English patch, but it's only 64% translated. If you still want to play it, you can get the patch at the TLWiki.
Edit: Unless you were talking about PM3. Unfortunately, there aren't any translation projects for that one.
That's what I've been using to play, though it does help that I know some Japanese.
Actual content related edit- If you're asking about PM3... I've never played it. All I know about it is what I've gleamed from the remnants of Nuriko's Princess Maker site, a now disfunct PM3 walkthrough guide, and Kit Kat's Princess Maker Corner.
I think it's in our bes- I MEAN OUR child's best wishes to find her a suitable partner where we can oogle at their prettiness every time they visit us they will treat her with respect and love and care.
Uno-sensei: Hii-ya! Welcome to Seiryu Hall! I'm Instructor Uno. Karate begins with respect and ends with respect! Let's begin with a hearty greeting!
: H, hii-ya!
[Concentration +0.60, Stress +4.00]
Tamura: Oh, you're the new part-timer. I'm Storekeeper Tamura. One must be strong to work at my bookstore. Would an elementary student be able to handle the work?
: I will do my best.
[Charisma +1.00, Stress +6.50]
Sakikabara-sensei: Hello. I am Instructor Sakikabara. Let's discover the the magic of music through the piano~
: I'll do my best!
: Oh frick
We only have 220 yen left
Sorry Cube and Priz, no dinner today.
Or for the rest of the week
And possibly for the rest of the month
: Hey, Prism! So you're taking piano lessons from Mother, too. Let's practice hard together!
:Uh Prism, how does the violin sound? Or the cello. Yes, the cello's fine, too.
The next day~
Takeda-sensei: You're the new transfer student McNinja Prism, aren't you? I'm Takeda, your PE teacher and guidance counselor until you graduate high school. I will not accept bad behavior. Keep that in mind.
[Stamina +2.50, Stress +1.50]
Energetic Girl: 'Sup, Prism.
: Uh, hi.
: I'm Kobayakawa Michiru.
: Say, did you decide on a club yet?
: I haven't even thought about it.
: Then what about the track team? It would be great if you joined.
: Track and field....I've never done it before.
: Hey, no one's forcin' you to. You can join any club you want.
: But really, it would make my day if you joined the track team. See, we don't have many members....so our club's in danger of dissolution.
: I see.......
: O-oh, no need to be so depressed about it. Whatever happens, we won't lose our club!
: Oh baby :(
: We have to stay positive. Then, later!
: Y-yeah. Oh....she left.
: (So confident and energetic. She's so cool.)
: Prism, have you decided which club you're going to join? Elementary students can join the Track Team, Choir, Newspaper Club, or Math Club. Club meets are on Tuesdays and Fridays. You can only choose one club each year.
: Blah blah blah Track raises Stamina, Agility, and lowers Intelligence, Choir raises Music, Newspaper raises Eloquence, Math raises Nerdiness and lowers Stamina.
Miyoshi-sensei: You don't have to choose a club and go home after school instead, but I recommend you to join one.
Actually, Yoshi-sensei forces you to join one if you choose not to, so there's only four choices. Which club should Prism join?
Track club! We can't let it dissolve, that would be sad D:
Well, since I have no idea what stats are relevant to Ryuunosuke and Kousei, I'll vote for either track or newspaper (track if we only get one vote). Eloquence sounds nice, but I like Michiru.
Prism: Star Reporter
As a reminder; Michiru's on the track team, Hiroko's in the choir, Emiri's in the newspaper club, Kenichi's in the math club, and Hitoshi isn't in any club.
Track club! Because lesbian space adventures! And uh, cause dissolution would be bad too, I guess.
Michiru is so cute. She is blushiiing~ /daydreaming
...yes. And. That too.
(Because we wouldn't want to disappoint our future girlfriend! Who would be sad if the club dissolved! We must protect her and hug her and train her to be our perfect SPACE SIDEKICK yessssssss we must.)
Also, the face that our daughter is making in the bookshop picture is just killing me. Steely-eyed determination, because she is ready to conquer! Those! Books!
Quick update before I go to a concert.
Michiru's route Track team it is!
Michiru: Welcome to the track team. Let's do our best, together!
: Can I adopt you?
: Told you you'd thank me for those midnight ninja training lessons.
Urakami: Ah, you're Prism. The work might be a tad hard for an elementary student, but please do your best.
: That didn't turn out too well.
Gamo-sensei: Yeah I'm not translating that.
: pffffffftsnort I mean how beautiful.
Cube: Mistress. I'm terribly sorry, but it seems like we are in debt.
: Why are you apologizing it's totally my fault I mean bad boy!
Uuuhhh so yeah we're in debt. And it's only the third day.
.......I think this game's telling me to never leave my parents' basement.
I'm replying here to discuss it, if you don't mind :3
I've been worrying about that too, but bolding would stand out too much, and I wanted to put gameplay related notes in italics. So I made a lil' McNinja icon a while ago to put next to my comments, but that would be like roleplaying, which I'm not too fond of...
What do you guys think?
Maybe put **asterisks** around your comments?
Use a small version of your Monobear avatar instead. It'll make all the updates deliciously creepy. <3
There's only one way to get out of debt.
Critically injure and or poison everyone in town and force medical bills out of them. Or child labour. What ever you're comfortable with.
I haven't been having trouble separating the game text from your text, but the tiny Monobear avatar suggestion sounds great to me.
Also, I am a little worried that Japan is apparently okay with ten-year-old girls working as dumpster-pushers. There should really be some sort of law against that.
How does i fanart?!
I can never have enough Princess Maker and thus I am eternally sad that there's only one game of it available 100% in English. So this? This is beautiful, please never stop <3
Also, though I thiiiiink I might be alone on this: Hitoshi looks like a little babby teddy bear to me. I want our darling princess to befriend him and smoosh his cheeks. Because teddy bear face omgffjgglkggfksshhhfl.
So I Monobearfied my comments.
And, uh, I don't know how to feel about that.
Let me know if this is alright, if not I'll italicize them.
That. Is. AWESOME.
NO WHY NO WHAT THE GENTLY CARESS MONOBEAR NO
*takes deep breaths*
...I mean. I mean that this is good and acceptable. Yes. Please don't skewer me.
