I'm guessing it's just the emulator, but I honestly have no idea. I've never played the PSP version. I had already downloaded the DS version, so when this thread inspired me to play the game some more, I played that rather than take the time to download a new version. Besides, as cool as the new devil/angel feature is, as much as I want the new CGs, and as nice as it is to see the CGs in one piece without a weird gap, there's actually a translation being done for the DS version. This is important since (while I took two years of Japanese in high school and completed through 203 in college) my Japanese isn't that great and there's a lot I don't understand. I like the idea that when I patch my game, I'll have some endings and ADV events already waiting for me. :)

Anyway, my suggestion would be to see if there's another PSP emulator you could try playing the game on because it seems like it would be super hard to play this minigame when you can't see the chocolate you're decorating.

I know, right? Seriously, after you guys play GS3, I don't want to see any of you complaining about the chocolate minigame in GS1 and 2 ever again.

This is probably late WHY CAN I NEVER CATCH UP WITH THREADS, but it's probable that the church, when it was built, was in use. Maybe the school used to be a catholic school, and then they converted it to a public one. If it's not necessary to take down the building, which costs money, might as well maintain it, which I'm pretty sure costs less in comparison. Maybe not on the long run, but at least with it, the students have something they can enjoy chatting about.

Plus Amanohashi's running the school. Do you really need to question more?

Also, Protag-chan mentions that she and whoever she gets together with will eventually get married in the church, so maybe the school rents the building out for weddings there on the weekends or something? That'd be a good way to raise some money for the school, I guess.

Won't the building be Church property though? The school would also have to be Church owned if it wanted to rent it out.

This is a fictional game set in Japan. Screw the rules, they have otome game plots to fulfill!

So the chocolate minigame is a killer in this one.

    Okay.

I'll just go cry over in my corner, then.

Randissimo's epic tale of suffering will not only continue via PvP and Teacher/Extras route, but with an evil chocolate minigame.

Fine, I see how it is, Konami. I love you so much, the variety is beautiful.

The chocolate mini-game is the most frustrating thing on the entire planet. I don't know what they were thinking when they made this version of it, but I hope whoever thought it up is covered in raw fish and then sent into a tank filled with fish-devouring octopi.

At one point, I just covered the whole damn chocolate in cashews, screamed for about one minute, then sobbed uncontrollably because I knew my chocolate wouldn't be enough to win the heart of a pixelated pretty anime boy.

i, too, have lost control of my life over chocolate (pudding)

So instead of a killer rabbit, we get evil chocolate games.

Likely exactly the kind of feelings they were aiming at, so in that respect the design of this chocolate minigame seems to be a HUGE SUCCESS? :s

  19. Tewi Despondent Fancybear

Thank you thank you thank you <3

And yeah, Charm is pretty difficult to raise. I'm gunning for Kou on my DS concurrently and I'm really glad that he only needs 70. After they get to :D or Tokimeki state though, I let them do the asking out (unless I'm CG-chasing) and use my weekends/holidays to raise stats, since it's more effective then.

I really love Miyo too, her voice and design is just so hnnnnngsqueeeezeworthy. Though I also find it adorable that Karen uses her lower, "cool" voice when speaking to fangirls then does a complete 180 and gushes over Bambi. <3 I just love this game!

As for the chocolate, hisssssss. It's hard even with the wiki T_T I preferred the old minigame, at least it could be learned! But anyway, for future reference, here's a quick rundown on the wiki page here:

Nothing new, just felt like translating the easiest bit. Below that, we have a list of the special toppings, i.e. the last stage. The names match the order of the table above, so if you're making it for a particular pixel-guy, just check their column to see what they like.

The column on the far right are the unlocking requirements:
最初から means it's available from the beginning.
こんぺいとう (konpeito) was confirmed to unlock with 学力/Intelligence - someone got it at 116.
    エビフライ (ebi fry?!) unlocks at 魅力/Charm < 149, 運動/Fitness > 150.

The rest aren't as clear, but they did narrow down the requirements to a few stats. 以下 means less than, 以上 means more than.

The tables below that show the same thing for the base and other minor toppings. Below that we hit paydirt!

I use this as a guide for all my tearstained chocolate-decorating endeavours. Basically they're a list of some of the successful combinations of each type. Opening up the tab for Natural:

The bit above the line is (as far as I can tell) a guideline for the category, so the first line says "milk-type base, white-type topping x1" while the second says "white-type base, milk-type topping x1". Buuut I just try to follow the combinations below said line - the first is the base and the other three are toppings. I've had success with mixing toppings across the combinations shown if you have yet to unlock all of them in a specific 'recipe'. The important part is the 少量 (a little), 半量 (half), 全部/MAX (all) and X個 (exactly how many) bit, which tells you how much cream or cocoa powder or how many almonds/etc to put on.

...Yeah, the whole thing is fiddly as hell. But those last few pictures maniskumquat posted are hilarious, so I guess that's the upside! XD

Oh nooooo, that chocolate minigame just looks terrible D: And I had a bad enough time with the previous version! This is gonna suck, isn't it... Welp. Good luck with that, Protag-chan!

Oh, hey! Hey! Arashi's name has the kanji for "mountain" in it, doesn't it? Or is it supposed to be read differently there? /curosity~~ I'm sorry, I just don't recognize very many kanji, so I tend to get overly excited when I actually do :[
    ... it's not my fault the kanji for mountain and fire look really cool ;n;

If you guys want your dose of sheer sugar, here's a Seiji x Protag-chan video where my biggest question was "Why is Oosako-sensei walking Protag-chan down the aisle?!" I admit the original reason I clicked on the video was because the screencap for it suggested Tamao x Seiji

Ahhhh Junpei, you hit that beautiful gap moe of a cute easily-flustered boy who tries to act cool. This game really makes it hard to decide a least-favorite, I love all six main guys this time for different reasons. Tamao's nice, looks good, is Tamami's little bro and makes epic expressions around Seiji, Seiji is very attractive and also adorably childish for a senpai, Ruka is voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, showboats as a hero, borrows Kou's clothes, and has a good storyline, Arashi says "osu" all the time, is a blunt, straightforward guy, and has great judo CGs, Junpei is moe, Kou is manly, a good brother, and has great dress sense.

    EDIT:

This is now my canon for what happens when Protag-sama goes for Hipster-kun.

I am totally late to this but I still feel like I should add my opinion.

Nasu's style seems to be tl;dr in general. It's personally not to my taste, and I found it bit hard to get into, or even get caught up in. In total, it took me probably a month of reading bits and pieces? (I don't remember it telling me playtime!) That said, I've been told that the anime is atrocious compare to the game itself. (I still haven't watched it because I'm watching Higurashi..) Mostly because it just focus on Saber's route? Saber is like an introduction to the world, it's not the full experience. So do playyyy it.

I actually like the cooking scenes. They are just standard mundane stuff that VN forces you to sit through before throwing you into pit of hell, and then you'll miss THE GOOD TIMES when you were just talking about breakfast. You can just skip through the H scene really fast if you want to, it's not really prominent.

I will comment on topic when I catch up. Edit coming soooooon?

No worries about being on-topic, derails are pretty much par for the course and I'm having fun looking through all of them! Except worms. Do not want worms please.

Anyway, to be on-topic myself: sorry for the lapse in updates these few days! I started playing Pokemon White 2, then bought XCOM during the Steam sale, and together they've been conspiring to distract me. I promise I'll have something up tomorrowish!

Edit: Speaking of hair, my DS's P-chan and Kou recently had a conversation about it. Apparently Kou was considering having, or had, the same hairstyle as Ruka. I forgot if he mentioned dyeing it as well, but either way my imagination COMPLETELY FAILS when I try to picture it.
