I'm really enjoying this thread, LP or not. Of course, I miss that Seiji blushing, but all these pics and videos are just hnnnngg.
  2. DreadCop Already Beat BF's New Expansion

Being willing to scour the "GS3" and "GS2" tags for hours on end helps, as does having Google Chrome translate everything. I think at this point TMGS fanart has overtaken my fanart folder.

Besides, looking at a ton of fanart on Pixiv improves my own art/style as I absorb everything subconsciously/note things like "Man I really love the way this person draws eyes".
  3. Randissimo Hatoful Pigeon

    TO GOOGLE CHROME I GO!

But yes, I agree. I actually got a How To Draw Manga For Dummies book a while back, and though I didn't copy the guy's style, his advice really was helpful. From that point on, I spent a lot of time observing how other people draw, which resulted in me trying to draw more realistic eyes. Spoilers, I'm terrible at it but I'm persistent.

Some fanart I've found in realistic-ish style:

As promised, an update! after hours of being distracted by niconico videos

    Shitara: "Sorry I'm late."
P-chan: "I only got here not too long ago, myself."
Shitara: "Huh, then I shouldn't have apologised. Just kidding, let's go."

He's unthawed enough to apologise, but Piano-sempai is still Piano-sempai. <3

Shitara: "What is it, don't make me choose. ...Though if I had to, I suppose that purple one is nice."

Today they go shopping! Sometimes there's an option to press a button to get an extra line and Approach opportunity after the normal date dialogue, but I don't know the hows and whys. This time it tells us that his favourite colour is purple.

After they leave the shop, Seiji nonchalantly remarks that P-chan is probably hungry after walking so much, then before she can respond, asks her to wait while he gets something from a nearby stall. We totally see through his transparent excuse to get something because he's hungry himself.

    Shitara: "....Ow, hot."
P-chan: "Ah, don't do that. You have to let it cool."
    Shitara: "...Uwah."
P-chan: "Ahh, don't blow on it! The green laver and bonito shavings are flying everywhere!"

I kind of wish they sold them in that quantity over here. The most we get is four, and it's not very cheap either. :< now I'm hungry

Shitara: "It's difficult to eat. Not very stable with just one toothpick, and the sauce is oozing all over... Is it even properly cooked? The centre's all gooey."
P-chan: "...Is this your first time having takoyaki?"
    Shitara: "Is that a problem?"
    P-chan: "Not really..."
Shitara: "It has a very unique texture. Like it's raw... And it's just flavoured with the sauce."

    P-chan: "So, how was it?"
Shitara: "...Not bad, I suppose. Perhaps I'll ask our chef to make it sometime."
P-chan: (I wonder what a chef-made takoyaki would be like... Still, Shitara-sempai seems rather happy. Looks like he'll be eating more of it in future.)

Having been an accomplice to confuddling his chef, it's time for the Christmas party!

We put our newfound knowledge to use (not that it actually matters, but still!) Off we go to-

Principal: "Ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the Amanohashi Mansion."

    D:

What happened to holding it in the school hall?! We wander around skirting the rose-trapped tables and manage to find an oasis in this den of potential ambush spots.

Karen: "Hiiii, Bambi! Merrrrry Christmaaas! ♪"

    As she takes us in...

Karen: "Yes! It's lovely, Bambi! Beautiful, beautiful!"
P-chan: "...Ah, the dress? I guess so, but I'm still totally no match for you."

Karen: "That's not true! ...Ufu ♥"
    P-chan: (She complimented me!)

I think that counts as gushing all over you, my dear P-chan. She was practically squealing, even! Karen takes off after a while to make the rounds and mingle with the rest, and we come face-to-face with-

    Why hello there, Piano-sempai.

Shitara: "There's nothing much to be merry about... But merry Christmas, anyway."

    Why the sad :<

Shitara: "...Oh, that dress suits you."
    P-chan: "Waa, really?"
    Shitara: "Yeah. Hm, hmm..."
    P-chan: "Err..."
    Shitara: "Aha, yes, I see..."
    P-chan: "............"

At least he cheers up a little and makes thoughtful noises as he scrutinises us in our purple dress!

Present-exchanging time next! We get a sugarcraft star, and because we send telepathic signals to Santa when he gives out presents...

Shitara: "Oi. Looks like you got my present."
P-chan: "Ah, and the one you're holding is mine..."
Shitara: "...When these coincidences happen like this, I get the feeling someone's moving behind the scenes. That Santa's no ordinary guy."

Shitara: "Oh... Doesn't it almost seem like our gift-exchange partners had been decided from the beginning? Thanks."

It was~ Glad you enjoyed the present we picked up with no particular person in mind at all! Yupyup! (It was a sand picture.)

The new year rolls around and P-chan reflects on the past year with a rather dubious "I studied a lot". You still need to work harder though, remember how Seiji spoke of your efforts during the finals! We don't have a little-brother/neighbour to spend it with, so it opens straight off with that and a few postcards:

P-chan: "It's from Ruka. Uwah... It looks really sweet. Fufu, that's Ruka for you."
Postcard text: "This year's concept: a full stomach. From Ruka"

P-chan: "Hmm, and this is... from Shitara-sempai? Wow, it looks like a party invitation!"

;_; I bet his family prints these and he sends them to everyone.

P-chan: "This is from Miyo. Bambi luck? I wonder what that's about..."

I can't read this, it's too small and gets all pixelly when I try to zoom in. my eyesss

P-chan: "And this is from Karen. Ah, a picture of Bambi... I wonder if she made this just for me?"
Text: "Last year is the year I'll remember for having met Bambi! Please keep taking care of me this year too!"

I doubt she goes around calling everyone Bambi, so yes, she made it juuuust for you~

P-chan: "It's from Oosako-sensei. This is... a tiger, right? Pfft, cute!"
Text: "Happy New Year This is youth?!"

And there're our cards for the year! Too bad we didn't get Kou's, I wanted to point out Ruka's scribble on it. XD

AHHHHHH I'mgonnahitthepostreplybuttonnow because I accidentally hit the back button on this tab just as I was finishing up Oosako's captions AHHHHHH
I will puke blood if I have to redo everything but thank everything that is good that Chrome remembered what I put in this box THANK YOU

Yeah, he's been growing on me too. I don't think he's ever flaunted his wealth yet so far, except with the different and probably exceptionally well-tailored uniform/clothes, and the hinted-at chauffeuring to and from school. He's more the innocent how-do-I-do-and-eat-these-commoner-things kind of rich boy rather than the worldly ha-you-pathetic-maggots-are-beneath-me kind, so that's definitely a point in favour.

That said, we haven't really gotten into any of his backstory yet, and he never seems to want to show up after school so P-chan can cajole him into the cafe to talk. Let us peel away more of your oniony tsun-tsun layers, Seiji!

Seiji's level of tsundere is endearing. He complains a little, and was somewhat inconsiderate before we went :), but he doesn't belittle Protag-chan at all and is only going to get more dere from here. Besides, when you compare how cold or inconsiderate the TMGS2 guys were before hitting :) he really wasn't that bad.

It makes me sad that the people translating TMGS3 over at Gokusaishiki are like "EWWWWW EWWWW WHAT'S UP WITH KAREN AND HER LOVE FOR BAMBI EWWWW". I would love a Karen romance route too.

I do hear that the girls get a little more of a route and endings (there's a 3P end with Karen and Miyo apparently) than in past TMGSs, but there's still a dire lack of CGs and events. Damn it Konami!

I don't know about you guys, but I generally give my characters different names depending on who I'm romancing because I like to think of them as different people with different tastes and talents. Therefore, I like to imagine that every ending is more or less canon and both Himuro and Amanohashi can be married to P-chan without polygamy. Am I the only one who does that?

For those of you who are curious, in GS1, Sakuya is with Suzuki Mayu (and sometimes Kanou Aiko or Matsuda Kaoru, but mostly Suzuki Mayu), Himuro is with Ueno Hanako, Shizuka is with Fukui Mariko, Hazuki is with Matsuda Akemi, and Chiharu is with Amano Rukka. I repeated a couple of those names to use with other characters as well and there might have been some other names I used that I deleted the files from. Some of the girl files have names not used for boys as well. In GS2, Hikami goes with Maeda Emiko, Harry is with Maeda Akemi, Chris is with Maeda Erika (I really like the last name Maeda, okay?), Saeki is with Hoshino Akemi, Wakaouji is with Hayashi Rin, and Shiba is with Mori Sakura. It took me a little while to figure out how to delete characters in GS2, so not all my heroines have different names. In GS3, Hino Sayuri is with Tamao, Suzuki Kotone is with Seiji, Ueda Junko (Jun for short) is with Arashi, Abe Hinata is with Kou, Inoue Suzu is with Niina, and Honda Atsuko is with Taira.
Cinder, Suzurin, tmp and 7 others like this.
  32. Antiqua Magister Mundi Elyscape

I think they went for the "Everyone got his own P-chan at the end!" solution, because in the drama cd it's hinted Himuro may have someone and in TMGS2 it's hinted that Mihara has a girlfriend.
So Amanohashi is engaged at least, I don't think they're already married.

I kinda hate the fact that you can't. "LOOK HOW AWESOME KAREN IS AND HOW MUCH SHE LOVES BAMBI. So of course you can't date her".
I'll pretend they actually are together.

    Who'd'ya think you're kiddin'
He's the Earth and heaven to you
    Try to keep it hidden
Honey, we can see right through you
    Girl, ya can't conceal it
We know how ya feel and
    Who you're thinking of

I tried to do that, but the storyline of the game makes clear that you're so unique and special because of the beginning - unless Saekki kissed a lot of children. So every P-chan has a different universe.
But if the "all route happened" ending is the canon one, then I'm glad about it.
(Also, how do you chose such good names? I have to give them a lot of short and even kinda stupid name because of character restriction.)

Piano-sempai calls us after we're done looking through our cards!

P-chan: "Ah, Shitara-sempai. Happy new year!"
Shitara: "Yeah. Are you free at the moment? If you're not planning to do anything but sleep, come visit the shrine with me."

One of the privileges of being the senior - he gets to use imperatives more freely. We agree, of course~

Shitara: "Got it. Get yourself ready and wait for me. I'll be over in a bit."
P-chan: "All right, I'll be waiting."

We're still too poor and can't afford a furisode, so we throw on some warm clothes before hurrying down to answer the door.

Shitara: "P-chan, are you ready to go?
P-chan: "Yes. Happy new year, Shitara-sempai!"
Shitara: "Yeah, happy new year. Well then, let's go."

    Shitara: "...What is this."
P-chan: "It really is crowded, huh..."
Shitara: "Oi, get rid of all of them."
P-chan: "Please don't ask the impossible..."

We start off the shrine visit with a little.. teasing?

P-chan: "I wonder what I should wish for this year."

    <.<

    >.>

Sorry Seiji, we need all the help we can get so Tamao can join in the fun!

Shitara: "...Paper fortunes, huh. Do people usually draw one?"
P-chan: "It depends on the person..."
    Shitara: "Hmm. And you?"

Why not, we could use a chance at stress reduction! Oh, and did I mention? He makes little puffs of white whenever he breathes! kyaaa

Shitara: "...Can't be helped, I guess I'll go with you."

We get excellent luck, which is most excellent! Seiji draws good luck.

P-chan: "Shitara-sempai, you don't look very happy about it..."
Shitara: "That's not quite it. It's just that I don't know what kind of reaction I should have. After all, this is a normal thing, right? I don't really have any impressions other than 'hmm.'"
P-chan: (Now that you mention it...)

Shitara: "...Hey, how much do people usually put into the offertory box?"
P-chan: "I think it depends on the person... Why do you ask?"
Shitara: "It made a jingling noise, so I thought there might have been some rule that you could only offer small change."
P-chan: "...I don't think there's such a rule. Is this the first time you've come on a shrine visit?"
Shitara: "I'm usually overseas during this time, so I don't visit on New Year's day itself. It's always much less crowded when I do visit. But never mind. Let's go."
P-chan: (I wonder how much he put in...)

I can just picture him slipping notes in and wondering why everyone else is throwing in coins. He then walks us home, and P-chan hopes this year will be a good year too~

Or we can pretend they went on a date right after, because it sure looks like it:

Shitara: "If you're late, just sprint here with all your might. That way, even if you're late, there's no way you won't be forgiven."

...I'd like to see you follow your own advice, Piano-sempai.

    Shitara: "Aren't you overreaching yourself?"
P-chan: "You mean these clothes? I guess they don't suit me..."

Oho, new comments! I think she was wearing Ultra Sexy in this case, since we finally unlocked Fashion level 2.

Shitara: "I didn't say that. Or rather, it's a bit of a problem to say that something like that suits you."
P-chan: (Um... I guess he likes it?)

    Ahahaha so cuuuute! *pinchcheek*

During the next week of school, Karen and Miyo come looking for us.

Karen: "Helloooo, Bambi! I was just talking to Miyo about this. Want to have a sleepover at my place tonight?"
    P-chan: "A sleepover? Us three?"
Miyo: "That's right. A pajama party, as they say. Coming?"

YESYESYESYESYES.gif since I don't have a stock of gifs, this will have to do

We assemble after school, and then it's off to Karen's place we go!

    P-chan: "Uwaaah~! Miyo, you're adorable!"
Miyo: "Making me wear this... You're a bit much, Karen..."

I'm surprised that Miyo actually put it on, since she hates anything that makes her look or sound like a little kid. The power of Karen~

Karen: "What's wrong with that, it looks great! It suits you! Bambi's cute too, so that makes a pretty girl on each arm ♥" (TL note: 両手に花 is literally "a flower in each hand")
Karen: "Oh, yeah. Speaking of which, Bambi... Do you have a guy you like right now?"
    Miyo: "Answer honestly."

Now we come to the real point of the sleepover - grilling your friends about the guys they like! Or in this case, having P-chan be grilled, but who are we to complain in this beautifully rival-less world? <3

    P-chan: "Shitara-sempai, I guess..."
Karen: "Shitara-sempai, huh. He's a little difficult to ask out... isn't he?"
    Miyo: "A little."
Karen: "Come to think of it, Bambi's just about the only girl who's on good terms with him."

    \(≧∇≦)/

Sleepover verdict: great success! Over the weekend, we get a message from Piano-sempai:

P-chan: "It says... 'Your friends have been asking me weird questions, so I'll be responding with the like'. That must be Miyo and Karen. Wonder what they asked..."

I'm not very sure about the second half of the message, but the gist should still be there (his answers are either 'appropriate' or 'vague', so I've interpreted it this way). Either way, it's a boost!

It helps that I know a little Japanese. I'm actually really uptight about having to put the names I use in kanji, so I end up scouring the internet and then spending way too long looking for the right kanji to use. Because even though it doesn't really matter what kanji you use, it would really bother me if my kanji didn't match up with the reading. Sometimes I'll use hiragana or katakana for the given name, but the surname always has to be in kanji. I didn't used to be quite so uptight about it, but I've gotten really bad as of late.

I'll also try to give the names some sort of meaning that relates to the guy I'm going for, though I'm not quite as obsessive about that. I don't do that as much with last names, as most Japanese surnames come from places and aren't really much more telling than names like "Hill" or "Park." However, I have used Suzuki in a meaningful way a couple of times. Suzuki is actually a really common last name and to Japanese people it isn't much more interesting that "Smith", but I love it, both for how it sounds and the kanji that it's made up of, which mean "bell" and "tree." I mean, a last name that means bell tree? How pretty is that? So that's why I used that last name with both Sakuya and Seiji. Matsuda, or "pine field", is another a meaningful last name I've used for Sakuya. As for first names, Aiko means "child of love" (or "love child", but that gives us an entirely different meaning in English) so obviously if I used that it would have to be for my beloved Sakuya, I used Akemi for Harry because it means "red beauty" and red is his favorite color, I was going to use Ayaka for Masaki since it means "colorful flower" (but I couldn't figure out how to delete characters), Atsuko means "kind child" and that's what I used for Taira, I used Hinata with Kou which means "sunflower" or "facing the sun" because I thought he seemed like the type who would fall in love with a cheerful girl, Junko means "disciplined child" so I thought that would be an appropriate name for a girl who was with a martial artist like Arashi (plus I associate the name Junko with tomboys because of JunJun from Sailor Moon), another name I used for Sakuya is Kaoru which means "fragrance" which I associate with flowers, and Kotone is made up of the kanji for "koto" (a Japanese instrument) and "sound" which is good for Seiji.

And I just realized I should have named the girl who gets together with Itaru Tsukino ("moon field") Hoshi ("star.") Dang it.

Anyway, if you want to put as much thought as I do into my names (which is to say, too much), I use Behind the Name to pick a given and surname that I like and then search for the kanji using Denshi Jisho. I use the kanji search feature to find the readings of the names and then pick them out. Kanji have what are called "on readings" and "kun readings." You find the kanji in the game by looking at the first character of the on or kun reading. When you are entering your name in the game, the first button on the right says "on reading" and the second says "kun reading." Let's say I wanted to use the kanji for clear ("亮") in my name. I would look it up on Denshi Jisho and I'd see under the kun reading "akiraka", so if I wanted to find it by the kun reading, I'd click the second button on the naming page and then click the character "a" ("あ.") Then I'd scroll down until I found the kanji I wanted to use. If I was using the on reading, I'd see that the on reading was "ryou", which is made up of the characters "ri" "small yo" and "u." So I'd click on the top button and then click on the character "ri" ("り") and scroll down until I found the kanji I wanted to use. Granted, this whole process is a lot easier because I know some Japanese, but I'd recommend that if you don't already know hiragana and katakana, you make an effort to learn them, even if you don't learn any other Japanese. It makes entering your name in video games and so many other things so much easier and learning it isn't as tough as it might look since they're just phonetic characters. Kanji, on the other hand, are a pain in the ass as you not only have to remember how to write them, but you also have to learn what their meanings are in English, their multiple readings, and what words they can make when you combine them with other words as some of the combinations are not completely intuitive.

Anyone know what to do for Love Mode? I'm currently on a 3P date with Konno and Shitara-senpai and keep getting blue crackly hearts D: I'm pressing "Circle" frantically but it's not helping.

Their hearts keep beating so fast I'm scared they're getting simultaneous heart attacks. Where's the CPR course option when you need it?!

But really, this friend events are really fun, it's a pity gal pals didn't have so much stuff in the previous games...a sleepover with Toudou and Haruhi would be really fun XD

Thank you so much, this is really helpful! I'll give a try then, I always wanted to learn a bit of Japanese.
