Anyway, there is actually a point to smiling/smirking during the first couple of Approach Mode opportunities - it usually doesn't make them uncomfortable, AND it's easier to crit them with it. During Approach, critical hits happen when you manage to land a command just as the pulsing heart reaches its maximum size; the closer you are, the bigger and faster the heart pulses, so smiling at them at max distance makes it easier for you to gauge and land a crit. This helps lower their guard and makes them more approachable, i.e. they become increasingly amenable to you shoving your face into theirs the next time an Approach chance rolls around.

Here I manage to get close enough to tease him. He seems to no like, but hearts and feathers burst from him anyway. YOU CAN'T HIDE YOUR TRUE FEELINGS PIANO-TAN

Yusss fade-to-white! I don't know the exact requirements, but if you collect enough hearts during the date, you trigger a bonus Episode just before the end-of-date dialogue.

Okay, what happens now is that we have to perform a specific set of three commands to get him to spit out whatever it is that has him looking so apparently terrified. The three commands differ depending on date location and/or what he says at the start of the episode. A quick check of the Japanese wiki informs us that the correct reaction is to smile at him, so we do.


P-chan: "What about me?"
Shitara: "Eh? No, I just thought there was something on your face..."


P-chan: (Something on my face? Well then...)



We smile at him again. Critical hit! It's super effective!


P-chan: "You've been looking at my face allll this while, huh?"
Shitara: "Not really... I just couldn't help noticing."
P-chan: (Couldn't help noticing...?)



Teehee, we get to tease him about it!


"No, that wasn't what I meant..."


"Aah, geez... Guess I might have been overly conscious."

"Aah... What should I do..."

So, I should mention that if you successfully complete Episode mode, it fades to white and they deliver a line just laden with frustration.



...Then it segues into Climax mode. (｀・ω・´)



It's basically a button-pushing boytouching free-for-all. You start with smile/gaze/cling (the last is triggered by holding analogue-stick-forward at them), then depending on whether you manage a crit, you unlock the other commands button by button. If you crit after unlocking all three, it fills one of the stars in the top right and resets your options back to smile/gaze/cling. The screen fades to white again after a while, about a minute or so.


P-chan: (Shitara-sempai looks really happy...)

Another effect of Climax mode was that it filled up all three stars of his Approach meter, meaning we can get right in his face without him putting a stop to it. WHERE'S YOUR COMPOSURE NOW PIANO-SEMPAI

Then he scuttles off again. ;-;

Oh, something else I forgot to mention. Climax mode is voiced (but without text), so while I can't remember the specifics, he was all "what are you trying to do?" and "you're too close", etc. I can try to pay more attention next time if anyone's interested. <_<

I usually take part and then side-eye the guys if they complain. You're good at this only for gameplay reasons, so stop judging me.

Now I really want you to unlock Tamao. Even if you never date him and you only sometimes visit the cafe with the three of you. I really like that in this game there's no disadvantage to unlocking other guys, since they only bomb you if you've dated them before.

I was also a dirty save-scummer in the previous games. :< It was relatively painless this time, though!

See, the thing is... I don't know anyone who blushes as much as people do in dating games. Unless it's the pink cheeked look that's brought on by drinking too much wine (heh, guilty). It's cute and charming, but sadly just a fantasy.

I'm a blusher too. I have a natural redness, but turn into a tomato when I speak with someone I like (then they would tease me about it and I would turn even redder). Or when summer arrives and it's too hot. Thank god I've never gone to mesoamerica; I would probably explode there.

About climax mode. The fact that the screen goes white just adds to the innuendo. It goes white after you touch him a lot in ways he likes, while he blushes like a madman.

I knew Konami was prone to innuendos, but this is straightforward even for them. Not that I'm complaining, though.

I'm apparently good at presentations, so I am told. Which is funny, because I am always so nervous after any form of public speaking I can barely walk with my knees shaking so much and I spend all the time after and before shivering and sure in my belief I am going to die.

I think IRL girls tend to blush more than guys, though guys will turn red if A) you embarrass them in some way B) they embarrass themselves in some way (see: every episode of Daily Lives Of High School Boys) or C) they are flustered because they are being seduced (see Shitara, above.) Even then, there are some guys who are just not very flusterable.

I can't interact with anyone that I'm not good friends without blushing. My face gets deep red and I trip over my words XD

God, that's really got to suck sometimes.

The only time my face turns red is if I'm working out/overexerting myself or if it's really hot outside. If I'm talking to someone I like, my face is more likely to be as white as a sheet. I have heard that paler people blush more than darker-skinned people, but I've never experienced this to be true.

I just love how adorable it makes the guys look. I would be very disappointed if guys in real life didn't look that adorable when they blush, though. :(
