Well something has to be making them move. Just because they say it's a "Virus" or a "Parasite" or an "Infection" doesn't mean it isn't still essentially just a body. Corpse or not, there has to be something telling their muscles when to contract and when to relax, or they wouldn't be able to move at all. /cannot enjoy horror movies because he over-analyzes everything

Ironically, I'm much quicker to accept corpses reanimated magically or by some nebulous curse or supernatural phenomenon.
