I think it depends on the person's surgical skills. There are people - more competent people - who've done this and lived. In short, it's all Teddybear of Death's fault. Everyone, you can start throwing rotten fruit at her now. :D

Kik probably would have been successful. Firefighters can generally hack them off with more success than your average person too.

The ability to treat injuries is indeed a stat, IIRC.

I can attest to this. First time this dilemma, Bilbo Baggins of all people performed a clean, efficient field amputation.

(I once had the same person amputate 3 people in the same run, she succeeded in one case. So I really don't know what it depends on...
And uh, let's have Kikari try and tend to his wounds. Minato could help if needed, to make it go faster and possibly give Kik a hug. He needs it.)

The funny part being is that I imagine Princess ALMOST SUCCEEDING in the operation, even with only a 2 stat.

The thing that kills me the most is this:

We had so much trouble getting into the hospital, Amano Shelby, I'd suggest you search around. Other than Kik you're the only one with a decent search stat, and we shouldn't go anywhere until we're sure we've found everything.
By the way, I'm not entirely sure whether to find it amusing or horrible that both my characters have gotten wounded to 'near death' levels. And ONLY those two! That seems to be a bit of a disturbing trend.)

Geez, that's what can happen if you let a survivor amputate? I am so glad I didn't choose that during my horrible experimentation with this game, I would have felt so guilty. (I got maybe 10 or so turns in and then everything kind of just... went really badly all at once. It was like an actual part of the canon the characters were from!)

Both Princess and Minato have their default after-breach actions set to watch if no one else is doing it, so I think you'll be fine. :>
