Let's Survive Zafehouse: Diaries!

I put Link on watch first as per Flonne's instructions, but pull him off to work on traps as soon as Javert starts resting. He's the worst at watching with four stars but the second best at trapping with three.

Similarly, I put Kaneda on patrol at first, even though Link is already on watch, but then I pull her off it and put Waffles on it instead since he has a higher patrol stat, and I don't need survivors dying on me at this point. I try to have her help Link with traps, but since she has only two stars at it, that doesn't go over too well with Link.



We are mercifully spared from Shelby Darlene's curse, as no dilemmas happened at all. Take that, Shelby Darlene!

Finally, after three hours, Javert wakes up.



Zelda's hungry, but sadly we only have one measly food ingredient left.



At least we managed to lay down some traps.

What's next, folks? Maybe going to the hotel might be a good idea, since everybody except Javert is flagging or tired? Or maybe you'd like to breach the empty houses, since they're easier to breach? Or somewhere else?

(Opinions, team? The food situation isn't good, and we know the hotel isn't the most defensible position in the world, but Javert is fresh enough to watch while you all sleep, as I understand it. Do you want to try to get the hotel breached before the tiredness situation gets any worse and search it in hopes of finding food when you wake, or breach a house and search that instead?

Also, it being Christmas I will probably be gone and stay gone until tomorrow in a few hours. My general wish here is mostly that we find a way to deal with the basic needs.)

Are the chances of finding food greater in the house than the hotel? If not, I vote we breach the hotel and kill two zombies with one stone.

Nah, if anything the hotel will probably have a higher chance of having food since it's a larger building and it's, well, a hotel.

You are a disagreeable sight, all of you. It seems we will have to breach a hotel for you to rest, as you can apparently not grasp the simple concept of adding to the defenses withut bickering like children without my oversight. I will keep watch once you are sleeping*, and then we will need to decide on a new plan of action.

*(Even if I doubt he will tell Cosette you love her and you'll see her when you waaaaaaaaaaaaaa....)

But hunger, hunger's a bitch that can take a dead laptop to the face and not slow down. Also, finding a good zafehouse that's in the center of town helps too."

All right, since Flonne and Kaneda said it's okay to puppet them earlier, I went ahead and made the decision in favour of breaching the hotel to get some much-needed rest.



Javert, Kaneda, Waffles, and Link trained together to prepare for the imminent breach, gaining a game-breaking +3 Tougher in the process. Wait, what about Zelda? You know, the princess who punched zombies to death with her bare hands? Don't you think SHE should've been included too?



I put Javert on patrol instead of watch because it would be a shame to waste that +3 Tougher boost. I search and clean the hotel while the survivors take turn resting, but Kaneda and Link start bitching at each other over corpses.



They now dislike each other. It's not dire or anything, and I'm inclined to just ignore it for now, but if you want me to spread a connection rumour for them, I'll do it.



So, Javert apparently thinks that splashing around in the swimming pool is a great way to defend a location. Not wanting to get her pretty, zombie-guts-coated dress wet, Zelda opted to not jump off the deep end and chose to face the zombies all by herself instead. Smart girl.

Anyway, the hotel has been fully searched, the corpses have all been removed, and...



Everybody's fully rested! Yay! You're also not hungry anymore! Yay! You only have 1 food ingredient left though! Boo!

It's now 1pm Sunday, so I highly recommend that you start breaching for clues. Remember that whoever it was left that note will come and go by Tuesday. You might want to revert to the "search one hour and move on" strategy that worked for us so well in classic mode - we can always go back and search for parts later. Moreover, you'll also get clues that tell you the location of vehicle parts, so it might even be more efficient to hit and run first to get all the clues, and then search locations fully when you know for sure where the parts are. Let me know how you'd like me to proceed.

Okay, in that case I think it would be a good idea to breach the warehouse on the bottom left, then up to the house, the other warehouse, the factory, the other warehouse that Link investigated back in the first few turns, and then if we are in good condition we could breach the university.

Does that sound okay?

Sounds good to me, but would you like each location to be searched fully, or just for one hour?

Well, if we have to make it on time for Tuesday, we probably won't have time to search them fully. So let's just search just one hour? It seems like the best course of action right now.

So sad you can't make the map layout. A dual LP of Zafehouse & Rebuild 2 would be all kinds of awesome.

That sounds amazing, but would that actually work? Even if you made the randomly-generated map layouts the same, the game mechanics are so different.

It could if you sent people out on missions through Rebuild 2, then RPed their success in Zafehouse.

It'd have to be a pretty extreme re-telling. It might work as an LP, likely not as an actual game.

We could just explain any discrepancies with reality warping zombies.

I went with this plan, and everything was fine. No clues whatsoever, but nobody got hurt despite being assaulted by an entire frickin' ocean of zombies, and we're currently in the warehouse next to the university with only 3 .223R rounds and 45 9mm rounds left. If another survivor doesn't post or change their mind in the next few minutes or so, I'll just use what the inanimate objects are saying as a tiebreaker and go with trade. Again, I can't save during dilemmas so I'd like to get this over and done with ASAP.

Quite alright. I'm pretty sure Javert is comfortable listening to inanimate objects. I've seen several versions where he clearly takes his hat's protest of not wanting to get drowned in a pool into account before he takes the plunge.

I think currently he suspects Waffles more because he's white and fluffy and unnaturally strong, but if his relationship with everyone suddenly drops, I guess we'll at least know why. It's because he's snapped like a twig and thinks you're all Jean Valjean.

Yep, that's the storyline I was going for. Mostly because if he did remember he still can't solve the dilemma of letting Valjean go and then he'd have to drown himself again. I guess that's why he wanted to lead everyone to the pool. Evil thing, a subconscious...

So, the inanimate objects have spoken! We trade instead of being barbarians who shoot on sight.



The automatic rifle is a pretty nifty item that I haven't actually ever gotten before in this game. It's like the semi-automatic rifle, but BETTER because it can target multiple zombies at the same time. So yay, inanimate objects!

We also found a battery! Yay more vehicle parts!



Since we don't have a lot of rifle ammo, I skip assaulting and have Waffles and Zelda snipe instead while the rest cook, clean, and search. I hate it when I assault and people waste all their rifle ammo on the zombies loitering outside. It's incredibly annoying when you're low on ammo.

Anyway, we breach the university and take out an entire horde of zombies. No biggie- say what?!



Whoah. Uh. This is a dilemma I've never seen before, so I can't help you there. People who've seen it, no spoilers please. Let the survivors vote... BLIND.

There was a similar dilemma in Rebuild 2, and I vaguely remember it working out okay, so sure! Let him take it.

Also, pool cue =/= weapon. I want my butter knife back.
