Yea there aren't many mods at all to fix dialogue and import bugs for DA2. It's mostly just aesthetics.

Anders and Fenris... it's been a while, and all my complaints have probably been rehashed all over the web, but Anders wigged me out (and I found his writing, uh, questionable in some places). I didn't know that such-and-such romance sequence would make me stuck with him in my first playthrough, and I was too lazy to go back and change it. (But that's mostly my problem :P)
And Fenris was just kind of boring. Like I'm not asking for some breakthrough in romance subplots but it felt stale, to me. Maybe it being my second playthrough colored my perceptions, though. Not to mention that the interaction was just "click <3 --> receive romantic line" for Fenris, though Anders did have more romance-specific scenes if I'm remembering right.

From what I've read of DA3, I hope we get a Tevinter mage as a romantic interest and they just copy Sand from NWN2 wholesale (yes I know NWN2 wasn't bioware, but dangit I just have this need)

    /Dragon Age tangent, sorry >_>

Ahhh DA2, how I hate and love you.

I dunno, I actually found the DA2 romances quite nice. Except for Anders, but then I just didn't like Anders overall. I ended up romancing Fenris just because he was the most attractive, though I pretty much slept with everyone except Anders and Aveline over the course of the game xD. If only DA2 had more replay value, then I'd probably go romance Isabella on a new playthough. (Isabella is best character, period.) I have this headcanon where Fenris and Hawke have a romantic thing going on, but Isabella will occasionally sleep with Hawke and Fenris doesn't mind.

And regarding mods - YES. Hell yes. At the very least install the mods that allow you to freely customize your party members' skill trees and change their equip, else the game will be ridiculously annoying to play. (Although this is coming from someone who plays PnP RPGs, so I like my games complicated.)

The only DA2 romance I still didn't complete is Merril's one. I can't find the right Hawke who I'd like to see with her, and she's already not my type to begin with. And the game doesn't allow me to make an androginous Hawke, that too.
I loved the other ones, but I love DA2 so there.
Anders had more romantic scenes plot-wise, and he's also one of the mandatory characters, unlike Isabela and Fenris (and Sebastian, who really needs more screentime).

I just hope we get characters who have deep relationships as the ones in DA2 but with more moments when they're not arguing about political views and stuff.

Oh yea, definitely. I don't mean to step on anyone's toes, I fully respect that there are people who enjoyed DA2 and its romances. It possible that they just weren't for me, and that's fine! Heck, my favorite was Zevran from DAO, and he's definitely not the most popular one considering most people kill him before joining and "omG!?!??! man hittinG ON ME1?!?!??!"

Wait, don't worry, It wasn't an accusation or anything.

I thought Anders was the one who got the honor of having everyone yelling at him. For a lot of reasons, but also because he hits on Hawke.

  6. Kirandra I Pretty Much Live Here

Huh, I'd completely forgotten about that since I play female Hawke. Still, we got David Gaider's reply out of it, and it was awesome.
Though I certainly felt like yelling at Anders more than once myself xD.
  7. maniskumquat Already Beat BF's New Expansion

That's true. Hmm... for some reason, I got the impression that the people who liked Anders or Fenris were pretty even. But in DAO, it was all Alistair all day, all the time.
I'm probably talking out of my ass, pay me no mind!
  8. Antiqua Magister Mundi Elyscape

That reply was one of the best thing ever.

It's not a shipping thing - I think, I live on the outskirts of the fandom - it's mostly one of the Dumb Things That Happen A Lot In This Fandom. Someone once a made a bingo out of it, I can't find it anymore.

I know about Alistair, because how could you not.

DA2 romances... I never did romance Merrill. I should go back and do that.

I didn't like Anders in general (he was so much better in Awakening), and his romance was a little too...creepy...for me. I tend to really get into RPing in RPGs (heh, obviously), and it sort of felt like my Hawke was in an unhappy and rather one-sided relationship. I also hated how his flag was triggered no matter what and then he would say shit about whoever you're romancing. Back off, asshole, I made my choice and it wasn't you!

I was completely obsessed with Fenris during my first playthrough and I still have a hard time remembering that I'm trying to romance OTHER characters, not him. His story is kind of average and his character is kind of stereotypical, but dear god that VOICE. I sometimes just turn around and click on him a few times just to hear more inane dialogue because I have this huuuuge thing for voices and his is fantastic.

Isabella was one of my favourite romances. Sure, you have to put up with a lot of shit (like every LI, but maybe moreso with her), but the romance felt a little more casual and normal to me than the others. It also helps that she's one of the few characters who is more funny than depressing.

TL;DR Isabella is the better romance, Fenris' voice gives me eargasms, and I'm STILL disappointed that you couldn't romance Varric and his wonderful chest hair.
  10. Antiqua Magister Mundi Elyscape

Everytime I play, I end up wanting Varric as a LI even more.
And I love the other romances - except Merrill because I didn't finished it - it's just that...Varric. Let Hawke love you.

I liked Ander's rivalmance. It was really depressing and everything, but I was emotional moved by it, so yay? I find more annoying how he acts when he is actually jealous because you flirted with him, especially in the banters.

Gideon Emery is amazing, so I really loved Fenris - his and Isabela's story arc end in a positive note, which was good and I liked their character development. They are easily my favourite romances.

I also appreciate how Isabela and Anders act differently around Hawke according to his/her gender, I thought it was a nice touch. But Anders was insufferable when romanced with a fem!Hawke, I couldn't bring myself to even try it. He really bothers me sometimes.

I also liked Sebastian. Sue me. I just wanted more meaningful dialogues if you were romancing him - which is already hard, since he has paranormal powers.
