The sad part is that I actually considered doing that once since I can't write a healthy love story if my life depended on it~
"Dude angsts over seven-year age difference with his mature and intellectual but socially awkward childhood friend who he's totally in love with" -> "Dude is completely willing to abuse his ability to teleport to another world to manipulate millennia of history to slowly mold the dimension into his childhood friend's ideal world so that they can run away together and never look back"
"Android boy still in love with his android girlfriend even after she gets her memories erased" -> "Wipes his own slate clean, becomes violently protective of her and briefly considers mass genocide"
"Dude in love with best friend's half-identical twin" -> "A chain of events leads to everyone important dying"

I would play all of these.

Except the game I have in mind involves all of the bad endings happening when you don't properly limit out boundaries and don't have their trust and confidence high enough when their affection's high enough.

And I do mean every single love interest is yandere. Just... They manifest it in different ways.

Sounds cool~! Who knows, maybe if I get all the yandere out of my system, I'll stop having take a break every couple scenes in my otome game to ask a normal friend "is this too creepy"~!

I'm thinking five or six love interests, they start off as just being normal people, and then the second half of the game branches off when the Protagonist (a journalist, inspired by Nosy Golddigger) ends up getting into a relationship with one. And previous to that branch off, if you didn't raise their trust high enough (this is a secret gauge) despite them having high affection, you get only bad ends.

I'm thinking more than just the obsessive/possessive yandere and yangire, I'm thinking along the lines of degrees as well. One is like. Martyr In Love Yandere (and boy is this one the most unstable) and then the more playboy archetype being the yangire who slowly sinks over to yandere.

... We should make this a thread, actually.

The strong-willed dandy. His scarlet eyes are always looking at painful memories. His amber hair flows like a waterfall. He tends to speak in short sentences. ALSO IS YANDERE.
The clever, immature mage. His eyes are like two setting suns. His hair is the color of obsidian. He has a perfect mouth - and a perfect smile. His outfits are bizarre, and he has a preference for blue and black. ALSO IS YANDERE
This pirate has abandonment issues and needs love. His cobalt-blue hair is worn in dreadlocks. His cream-colored eyes glow with an indescribable passion. He speaks softly, yet every word carries. His high cheekbones give him an exotic appearance. He has scars on his hands - discussing this is a sure way to bring him to tears. His clothes are charmingly casual, and he has a thing for large belts with large buckles and leather boots. ALSO IS YANDERE
The worldwise, immature novelist. His dancing eyes are ebony. His mauve hair is worn in dreadlocks. ALSO IS YANDERE
This teacher is quietly hiding the pain of a terrible tragedy. His hair is the color of fine jade. His intriguing eyes are like two gold coins. His voice is commanding. ALSO IS YANDERE
This assassin is a complete ladykiller. His eyes are like two windows on the midnight sky. His well-styled hair is gold. ALSO IS YANDERE
The closed-minded yet dedicated superhuman. His beautiful hair is apple-green. His sparkling eyes are like two windows on the evening sky. When he speaks, he speaks each word dramatically and clearly. His mysterious outfits are designed to deliberately show off his powerful build. ALSO IS YANDERE

I want to make a completely different game with this. Can we do that.

The actual project, though, had a more serious and suspense-heavy atmosphere. Real world setting. Drama and mind games and that kind of thing, only with an intelligent, highly sensitive and observant protagonist. (She's a journalist, comes with the job.)

But holy frick, Donmai, I'd rather play that.

The program you got with Morenatsu should take care of that problem! Just change your system back to English, use AppLocale to make shortcuts to the Japanese games, and you should be able to run them just fine!

I love how we of Broken Forum come up with a million different otome game ideas that don't get past the planning stage. We should just combine them all into a terrible/fantastic Frankenstein.

It'd be like a medley of romance. One moment you're dating the yandere, then he is a robot, then a storm, then English as a subject...

Well, I like the "beware of the nice ones"-trope, so yandere characters can be fun.

I've seen a lot of game planning stuff in various threads actually, is there a sub-forum or something for them or do they only exist in these derails?

Making a dating sim does seem like it could be fun.

A few of the derails become groups - that's the subforum lowest of the forum listings.

I might just try to make a harem game after this.

I jokingly posted the idea for "Tome-chan's Harem" awhile back but I have seriously wanted to do it using the best pixel boyfriends of each LP!

Protag-chan would romance each of them in turn to convince them to join her harem but need to spend time with her harem as well to keep them from leaving ❤

Oh, and here I was thinking a BFite's harem would consist of other BFers. :D

Also, the best pixel boyfriend is kind of a subjective thing. Because my best pixel boyfriend for GS1 would be Sakuya and most people wouldn't agree with me on that one.

And my harem would be Ayato. Just Ayato....

As will be the one where you build your own robot boyfriend. Randissimo and I have been busy brainstorming ideas.

Let me direct you towards a helpful Microsoft utility called AppLocale - it enables you to create shortcuts that open applications with a specific locale, so you do not need to set it for the whole system. I'm not sure it works in all cases, but I had no problems with it the last time I needed it.

edit: it looks like it doesn't run on Windows 7 though.

edit 2: It does work! You'll just need to install it through a command prompt run as administrator.
