Master of Olympus: Zeus offers one hell of a preview XD I once had half of Thebes (or possibly a colony of Thebes) trashed because Hephasteus unleashed Talos on me. Because, see, earlier I built a temple to Ares because he was pissed off I killed his pet hydra, and while that temple appeased Ares (Athena told me it was because he liked playing hide and seek or as he called it 'ambush practice' in the large halls there), it meant I was his favoured city by the time Hephasteus realized his wife Aphrodite was cheating on him... with Ares.

And the Gods are basically just blessing/cursing machines in that game. Imagine the soap opera, were they the driving plot mechanism.

I am now massively sad Zeus won't run on my Vista. I miss that game.

And now I'm seeing Ares under a different light.

That game seems wonderful, the idea of letting the Gods act like...Gods is really a good one.

There isn't a patch to let it work, or something like that? My laptop allows me to play old games - it's a Seven - just by installing it, setting the compatibility and running the game as administrator.

Yeah, it's amazingly fun. And very educational. I think I half passed Ancient Studies thanks to that game. Little details like abducted brides, what monsters were defeated by which hero - an entire quest chain is dedicated to the Labours of Hercules and another to the Illiad.

In case people are bummed, though, the game doesn't have any dating moustachioed creeps, so it's not a complete loss XD

Sadly, I tried the Compatibillity mode already. It's really grinding my gears, too, because it was my favourite game bar none, and we only have one XP pc remaining and that's a tiny, tiny laptop.

Might I suggest other characters?

Hera - The libby. the rival for Zeus.
Artemis - the athletic female friend.
Athena - the smart female friend.
Demeter- Head of gardening club.

If Apollo is the sensei, would that make Artemis your gym teacher, since they're twins? Either way, Artemis has to love animals (or dogs, at least), hate men, have a brother complex, and bring down divine retribution on anyone who tries to put a move on her. Artemis is the best, okay?

Maybe Protag-chan should be a worker in Artemis's temple. She loses her parents or something and runs to the temple, sad and alone, and cries to the statue of Artemis. Then Artemis herself appears before her and, in thanks for working so hard in her temple, gives her ambrosia and brings her to Mt. Olympus to be one of her handmaidens as well as her friend.

It can either be literal or based off of the myths (aka in a high school)

You may want to avoid the whole Persephone thing unles you want Hades to be yandere, but what about Aphrodite?

Aphrodite as the stylish friend or a "big sister" who gives life advice maybe?
or a girlxgirl route?

Aphrodite-as-Karen is fully acceptable to me.

There needs to be at least a yandere Hades option then, maybe have a less kidnap-y option and then also the stalker/kidnap-y option if you happen to be in the flower arranging club and decide to pick flowers in the wrong place (ie near where he parks his super sexy sportscar). You only get saved if you got your friendship or love stat with Demeter high enough though otherwise you're stuck with yandere!Hades.

Where do I forward my paycheck? 'Cause seriously this is in the tippy top of things I've always wanted. Especially if it can be just as sordid and petty as the myths make it. It'd also rock if Hestia could be the player character's bff. She is like the ONE sane divinity in the whole pantheon so she'd make the best bff and maybe she's my totes favorite.

Should Zeus be an exchange student to reflect the fact he was originally the Thrackian God of Thunder and was integrated in the Parthenon via being related/seducing/married to most of them when the culture gained dominance in Greece?

I can wait I've got tons of sewing and renpy figuring out to keep me busy. Just the fact that this is being talked about maybe possibly someday before I die being made is thoroughly exciting. The only thing that tops my list more than this is an otome involving racing and lolita dresses and I'm working on filling that oddly specific niche as we speak. :D

I agree with Randissimo about Vista - if you tried with the "run as administrator" option then there's nothing to do, that was the ultimate trick.

^THIS. Like, Hera is always Zeus wife/girlfriend and Hades is like a Stalker With A Crush for someone else, and Ares and Afrodite are still sleeping together, Dionysos has a nice girlfriend with an not-great ex...so much stuff to work on!

As someone who has actually gotten Amanohashi's ending (I am a master of morbid curiosity), I can say that his route's gonna continue walking that thin, thin line between "kind of sweet" and "creepy".

I'll finish his route today and go to watch The Hobbit tomorrow as consolation.

You can write a ten page essay about all the things going wrong with that route. Or more.

I probably will.
