If we ever do make stuff with real Artificial Intelligence, I fear we would all end up only talking to robots.

We do have real artificial intelligence, just none complex enough to completely and accurately emulate the human psyche~ No matter how much we try, though, I doubt we'll actually create an A.I. that's indistinguishable from a human. It's too cruel, you know? Besides, people don't want to talk to robots who speak like humans. Humans already speak like humans. What they want are robots who look like humans and speak like dreams. Someone who will comfort you no matter how wrong you are and keep your secrets no matter how dark they are and live for you and you alone. We've got nothing to fear from real A.I.~ We're only gonna end up abandoning humanity to talk to robots if we make almost real A.I.~

As far as I know, we don't have real AI, we haven't created an algorithm yet that can actually learn and grow on its own. Can be wrong there though. But I don't really think humans won't do science because it's too cruel. It is true that there were a lot of scientific breakthroughs in periods of war, aka periods when morals weren't as important as staying alive, but knowledge isn't evil. There will always be reasons why we should do things and those reasons tend to win over those why we shouldn't if you give it enough time...

Artifical Intelligence isn't automatically humanlike intelligence. It would be way too coincidental if the first complex AI is a humanlike one. And if it gets made by one genius, and not by a whole bunch of people, things could become very bad interesting :D

But consider that CleverBot there is already good at tricking people and there are A.I. who are even better at tricking people. Just wait until someone tries to make even more money out of it~

I like observing how CleverBot works, but I feel sorry for the good people like that indian guy from before.

Actually similiar things going on even in basic programs, for istance we can have a program who is able to choice the better way to do a specific task based on how much times it is needed, for istance. So he is kinda learning what is better in a particular situation.
And I now that there is an experiment going on with robots who are learning how to walk, but it will be years before it's done~
And actually the creation of a real A.I. involves also neurology and stuff~
