Machinations of Light's Glory - signup, rules, chat

I've been wanting to run a forum game for a while, and having gotten the permission of AaronSofaer I am going to attempt to run a sequel to his old Light's Glory games:

At their core, these are what's known as mafiascum games (or vampire games, or werewolf games, depending on where you first played them). In these games you have a lot of players, a few of them are secretly bad guys, and everyone has to vote each other out of the game as the bad guys pick them off one by one over the course of a few weeks of play.

Aaron's Light's Glory games are usually considerably more complex and involved than the traditional mafiascum template, but with a lot of opportunity for roleplaying if you wish to.

The first Light's Glory game was themed on medieval high fantasy and a warring heaven and hell, with a bunch of mage-monks sacrificing each other to root out the cultists that were trying to unleash the demonic hordes trapped beneath their floating monastery-island.
The second game advanced the era, and added a steampunk theme, with an airship of bumbling magic-using archaeologists arriving at the ruins of the first game's citadel, and having to save the world again from the cultists among them (and blowing up plenty of ruins along the way).

This game is advancing the era again, so we're mixing angels and demons and magic with sci-fi / cyberpunk and conspiracies.



You will all play as the cybernetically-enhanced members of an illuminati-like organisation of some of the most powerful individuals in this magical, technologically-advanced world, who have all been briefed and charged with ensuring the secrecy and safety of the terrible secret beneath the Old Citadel.

I'm hoping for the usual 25 players. The game requires a considerable time investment, and will probably last about two weeks. I'm giving priority placement to anyone who took part in or followed along with the last Light's Glory game, but everyone is welcome to sign up in this thread.

Aaron is going to join in as a player for this one, which I understand he is quite excited about. He doesn't have any more knowledge about my rules than you do, so he's just a normal player.

I'm going to post the public rules here once I've finished writing them up, and give everyone a few days to pick holes in them and ask questions, while I continue to mull over the fine details and make sure I haven't missed any potential disasters. Aiming to start on Monday.

All rules here are subject to change until the game starts.

Steampunk avatars will still fit right in, I think. Cleavage Girl can stay.

I do have a big pile of avatars I will be uploading and providing once I'm done with the rules. Although I'm still hoping Dan Lawrence might also be able to provide some like he did for the last one, maybe of a different style to mine. Or maybe link to his steampunk collection again.

If you go back through the Ruins of Light's Glory thread, feel free to skip about the first five pages and...somewhere around pages eighteen to twenty-one. The latter is a guess. >.>

I think the original Citadels of Light's Glory game on Qt3 is at least just as good a read, too. Though it doesn't bring Likes upon the posters.

Posted the WIP rules here. Let me know if you see any potential problems, and ask questions if anything seems unclear. You can send me a private message if you want to ask something that might be relevant to a secret super clever strategy you want to keep to yourself.
