Machinations of Light's Glory - signup, rules, chat

Not constantly, just, y'know, one every month or two. Thinking out loud, that's all.

I've had ideas for running one (superhero-themed) but there'd be a lot of work in it.

By the way, I find it very entertaining to occasionally log in and find a string of alerts showing someone with an anime cat avatar liking all your posts as a LPer reads the thread.

Regardless of the next one is, I'm more than likely sitting it out; I've left a mess in the LP thread I need to clean up before I get distracted by something else.

I think I've now hosted more of these than I've played in, so I'd jump at the chance to join one.

In theory, the knife could still go to said face.

If it makes for a dramatic death, I say go for it. Straight through the visor! Hmm, that might be a bit gory though.

An Ender's Game mafia game could be interesting too.

It is very amusing that the players are killing people to see whether they are innocent.

I will leave the error in the game and not correct it with an edit, because a) it kinda works as a nice put down and b) its pretty funny!

Does it involve Marvel superheroes and Skrulls? Cos I had that thought flitter through my head once after Kael's DC game, only to have it disappear cos I didn't want to think so hard.

Urrrgh. I apologize for basically being vacant for the last couple of rounds. I'm having to fill in shifts on top of my normal ones, so I've barely been able to log on. I think next time I'll have to pass or something.

I kinda liked the way people had been saying individual goodbyes in the delay between turn end and the sacrifice post.

The deadline has been bad for me as well. I did make a vote post today from work but it didn't register.

Monologue was written based on Dan's guidance on his character interpretation of the trait/loyalty I gave him.

I demand that after this game, roBurky and AaronSofaer get together and write out the official Light's Glory mythos guidelines and set up some sort of anthology project, because this is epic.

Such great atmosphere, roBurky, and you've been blessed with players who give a shit and are also pulling off some fantastic posts.

Seriously, great job all around everyone who's playing. Easily one of the most entertaining games I've participated in. Normally around 4th day I'm burning out on it, but this stuff is great.

This whole world feels like a mashup of Planescape meets Shadownrun.

I approve.

Actually, one of the reasons I wanted to make a game within this world is because Ruins seemed so broad that all of the players could find something in the themes to inspire them, and then improvise into the world whatever they needed for their roleplay, with little risk of contradicting anything.

With what all the players have been doing with it this game, it's becoming like a fresh new 40k universe, with a million new cultural reference points being mashed together and perfectly co-existing.

Oh, also:

This was just providing an opportunity for anyone who wanted to roleplay a minor or majory injury. There were no rules consequences to the explosion.

If it turns out nobody was injured, well, it's just referring to everyone's loss of trust and sense of betrayal.

You know, this game's gonna give me a heart attack at this rate; every time I get tagged, I keep thinking something bad happened to me. ):

I do wonder if there's a way to make a game that preserves a lot of what we enjoy about these things, without needing to remove players from the game part-way through.

This is so true. I loved the way everyone really got into the Ruins game too, and it stayed thrilling throughout almost all of its run. This is an amazing group of players.
