I can't seems to find the thread for this game, maybe no one like it. but I DOOOOOOOOO.. So glad it's a 3 days weekend.
Don't get too excited. Three days is still only 72 hours, so you'll only have time to watch a quarter to a third of the game's cutscenes. Nah, just kidding. That it's made by Platinum instead of Kojima might just mean that it's actually good and not a dumb movie. The gameplay footage looks like a mix of MGS and Bayonetta, which looks pretty cool.
Also, in case nobody else has bothered to look up footage of this game, the reason idris_z referenced Fruit Ninja in the title is that the twist in this game's combat is a system that lets you freely cut people and things in half on the fly. I am getting pretty interested in this.
short game if anyone just want to rent it instead. Beat it in like 4 hours. I really like Bayonetta, Rising is a good game, but not as good as Bayonetta unfortunately, the cutting mechanic is quite fun though.
Wow, thanks for the heads up on that one. I kind of figured the Metal Gearness of it would draw it out a bit. I'll look for this one on deep discount in a couple years if I remember, I guess.
I just want to say that idrisz's title is so much better than the real title. They should let you come up with the sub-subtitle for the next CODBLOPS.
aah that makes sense now. Yes, if only I was allow to come up with major title changes. just checked out some reviews, the kotaku one is like "10 hours+", unless the reviewer is cutting up every detail in the Geo, it's not 10 hours+, I just spoke with one of my coworkers who also picked up the game, he manage to beat it within 4 hours+ as well, that's with us dying over and over again on the last boss. we both agreed that the game feels rushed near the end, but he hope that the game sell well so there will be a sequel, I just feel kind of cheated, I didn't even get to see if they only made a way of samurai game with the cutting schtick.
Ten hours sounds about right for the average person if you said you beat it in 4. That's not a knock on you, idrisz, but you're not exactly a leisurely sight-seeing type of gamer. I bet most of us here would take 6 or 7.
Yeah, I just watched GiantBomb's Quicklook on the game and they said they finished in a little over 4 hours. They also said Plantinum Games was quick to let everyone know that time didn't include cutscens, which is sort of a weird thing to focus on. "No no, it's only 4 hours if you don't count the time you're not actually playing!".
Their note was a bit wonkier than that. It's your best times. So if you play for another 3 hours and manage to reduce your best time on a map by 10 minutes, your save time will be reduced by 10 minutes. It's like a high score more than a /played time. Still a short game, but it seems like a really fucked up way to record playtime on your save file.
What unlocks the VR missions? Or the tutorial missions? When do I start getting scores for either? It's just strange that the game scores me in the opening scenarios, kills me, but won't give me much room to practice and see what I am doing wrong versus insisting that I learn the hard way.
I'm thinking that it might not have been the best idea to unlock the Grey Fox sword with an hour of grinding at the beginning of R-02. It, uh, makes a lot of things kind of trivial, with its ability to cut through anything that isn't a boss pretty much instantly. It's also FUCKING HILARIOUS.
