"Didn't I hear you two behind the crates not so long ago?"

"Oh... Well. What can I say. I find it difficult to say no. She seemed so vulnerable... But I'm not really interested in her. I believe Trissa's just looking for somebody to take care of her. She's had a rough time."

"Well, I guess it's really none of my business."

"Aww, and I was hoping you'd be jealous. A little bit at least."

I suppose I am. It's not fair of me; Caron flirts with me a little, but we're not promised to each other or anything.

"Why would I be?"

"I'm just teasing you a bit." He smiles.

I giggle nervously before running back to my room. Trissa glares at me as I shut the door.

Fair enough.

I don't think this game is the most awful thing or I wouldn't play it, but it has serious inconsistencies in tone which make it hard to interpret events and characters in a consistent manner.

Too much of the sex is seriously offputting for me to just say, "Oh, it's porn, can't take it seriously"; but too much of the sex is weirdly lulzy for the game to be taken seriously.

(How many more times can I use "seriously" in a sentence?)

It's the most fun inconsistent game I've played, although that sounds like a too-specific category.

Pfff, the sex reads like really bad internet porn. But then it gets, like, uncomfortably gross (ANY AND ALL GANG RAPE SCENES WHEN YOU LOSE A FIGHT). So yeah, I know what you mean.

I have no idea how the Rizzen romance is. You'll have to keep me posted. I'm collecting info for the eventual "who should we date?" voting post.

I'll admit I don't usually play mods, because poorly written games make me want to tear my hair out. Actually, poorly written anything makes me want to tear my hair out. :D I'm surprised I still have hair.

I've played some mods for Baldur's Gate I, but not the second game because I haven't finished the first yet. My understanding is that there have been plenty of TRAINWRECK!romance mods written for the second game. I'm thinking I should just grit my teeth and play them for the lolz. :D

Oh my gosh. I love Baldur's Gate 2 mods let me tell you. But I think the original romances in the game are kind of crap, so.

There's such an active BG2 modding community that you can probably find a romance mod for whatever your particular taste is. I personally think the Haer'Dalis Romance is the standard to which all mods should aspire -- particularly how the dialogue and characterization works regardless of how you are roleplaying your PC's personality and alignment.

If you know the kinds of things you like in a romance mod I can give you more recommendations, or you could just tell me to shut up =P

Oh, my god...someone made a Haer'Dalis romance mod? Woohoo! Last time I checked, it was still being talked about, I think. I'm kind of familiar with most of the modding communities for BG2, and I was planning on trying quite a few of them out. Especially a Kivan mod I found. I really liked him in the first game.

I also found an Enhanced edition that someone's doing for Baldur's Gate. I think it just came out. I'm not sure if it spans both games or just the first, though. I'm also not sure who did it.

It's been far too long since I checked the modding communities! And I don't mind recommendations. Totally agree that the original romances aren't that great, from what I've heard...especially since there's ONE WHOLE PERSON for you to romance if you're playing as a female, and he's an ass. >_<

I must re-install BG 1 and 2. I think I played them ages ago but I've mostly forgotten what happened in them and what I did.

Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition is coming out the end of this month. The company that did it actually involved a few modders into the process who had already done things like improved graphics and bug fixes, which I think is pretty cool. I'm really hoping it lives up to the hype.

The Haer'Dalis romance mod is not complete yet (like a lot of BG mods, it's missing the section for Throne of Bhaal, but that's supposed to be out "soon"). Haer'Dalis is just the awesomest, and the mod is perfect. (Also the sex scenes are seriously hot if you're into that.)

Rizzen reminds me of when I had a crush on Hiei back in I think elementary/middle school.
So you can go by that.

Actually I like the idea of Anomen's romance; I just don't think the implementation is terribly good. Particularly how easy it is to end the romance if you let him go Chaotic Neutral, and yet how his character development is way more interesting if he does so.

Nah, I was mostly just joking. Anomen's romance is just awful, though, so everyone grumbles about it when it's brought up. It's an obligatory thing. :P

Ugh, Vico. And here I'd almost forgotten how repulsively he acted when you first saw him again.

Yeah. I felt like I had to leave in some of the more vulgar parts of his dialogue because if I start censoring him, you don't really get the sense of why Vico is so awful.

That was the conversation that caused me to yell at my computer, "WHY WON'T YOU LET ME KILL HIIIIM?!"

I don't get why that isn't an option either. Or knocking him out and dragging him into the sewers for the rats to take care of. Ugh.

I momentarily forgot that you can choose the MC's first name and was like "who the fuck is Riona".
