I am pretty sure I asked about Kansas City last year 'over there' and cannot find it anywhere. I also hate to say that someone recommended me BBQ and casino information and I have forgotten who that was. Nute maybe? Going for work and will have a night free maybe this weekend and also maybe in January when I return with 2 co-workers. Any suggestions other than Bazooka's Showgirls? Looking for a bar/hotel area for a one night stay once all of our work way the hell out in Kingsville is done.
Yep! KC has a number of hotels in the downtown urban core area, plus cheaper economy-stay ones just east on I-70. Just a few blocks from Bazooka's you've got a Holiday Inn and a Marriott. Reputable places to drink include the Bulldog (next to Bazooka's), the Flying Saucer a few blocks northeast in the Power & Light District, and if you're into cocktails, Manifesto in the basement of the old Rieger hotel (you need to go around back to the unmarked door and buzz yourself in).
I can't believe I remembered it was you! My memory is shit. I am only sort of half kidding about Bazooka's. Kinda. When the co-workers come back with me in January, they will be wanting a decent place to just sit around and drink that is lively after a long week of audit figgerin'. Thanks! I am not quite sure I am prepared for location that starts with this warning: Is that an issue? ;)
Holiday Inn Friday night it is. Woohoo! Drunk thread posts from another locale could possibly be in the offing!
Heck yeah. It would be good to meet you. I'll shoot you a PM. Also, don't know if there are other KC folks, but if other folks want to join us, please do.
No, no, no. I'll behave. Nute may get outta hand, but I have a plane to catch the next day....at 11:40.
My parents are in town, but they pass out early. Might be able to join you all if you're heading out. I also highly recommend Oklahoma Joe's on 47th and Mission if you want the best BBQ in town. Yeah, it's in a gas station, but dayyum! It's good. Beyond good.
Awesome. I am counting aluminum manufactured parts in Kingsville and then Warrensburg. Fascinating work indeed. Seems like I should get done and into my hotel about 6pm and then will gleefully meet whosoever decides to show up. That's what I have communicated to Mr. Nute. Currently at Clancy's in Blue Springs next to where I am staying tonight. I had the rental car guy program Oklahoma Joe's into my fancy direction thingy already. Not sure I'll have time this trip, but will in January when I am back for the audit of this same company.
We will play it by ear -- if we're not able to make it out tomorrow, Tyjenks, we'll certainly shoot for January when you're in. If we don't end up seeing you, have a great time while you're here!
At Bulldogs with Nute getting the scoop. You order a beer here and they bring you two. This is the best bar ever.
My co-workers and I should be back downtown at some point tomorrow night, but it is really touch and go as to how late we will get out of Kingsville, into our hotel downtown and be able to hook up with anyone that wants to, so I have hesitated in making any attempts to coordinate. Color me disappointed. We have eaten way too much out here in Blue Springs each night. That much I can say fo' sho'. I can still hit up this thread tomorrow at some point just in case people want to see my scraggly face in person (possibly for a second time), but actually doing the work that has brought me back to your fair city (well, east of your fair city) appears to be getting in the way.
