He might be right for Philly, depending on how Kelly feels about Foles and what is left of Vick. I doubt Vick returns, he's too expensive for what you get. Foles may be the future, but he didn't set the world on fire when he started last year and went 1-6. It is another team with a bad line, but Kelly isn't a patient man and Smith is probably athletic enough to run Kelly's offense.
I don't know that I can think of a worse fit for Kelly's ultra-high-tempo philosophy than a QB who routinely has trouble getting the ball snapped before the play clock runs down. Even in his seventh year in the league. Even at home. Even coming out of a time out. I suppose if they implement the placard system, that would remove the responsibility to get in and out of the huddle and call the plays, but still. Kelly likes to play fast, and Alex has never played fast. If Kelly doesn't think Foles is his QB of the future, I would guess that he drafts a guy who is.
I'm going to be interested to see what happens to Alex Smith. I can't imagine he'll stay in SF, but he was benched for a reason, and I'm not sure that any other team desperate for a QB is going to want to take a shot at him, given his low ceiling in terms of potential. At this point he may be transitioning into career backup mode.
I can't wait for the Super Bowl to be over and Ray Lewis to finally be fucking retired so he'll shut the fuck up about his retiring.
To be fair I am not sure Smith is the problem there, it seems to happen to Kaepernick too and considering the coaches Alex has had, it might not be his fault.
I dont see him even going in the first round, so they might be able to get him with their second round pick which would be a lot closer to where he should be drafted.
Kaepernick had trouble with the crowd noise early in the Falcon game and then adjusted, and from then on he got all the shifts and adjustments finished and was calling the snap count with 7or 8 seconds left on the play clock. And that was in his 10th start. Alex has had trouble getting plays off for seven seasons with seven different coordinators in at least four different systems. There is a common denominator there, and it isn't Greg Roman's offense. In related news, Alex Smith apparently came out and said he has no idea where the rumour that he asked to be released came from, and the 49ers subsequently said that they will try to trade him and if there isn't immediate interest they will release him early to give him a chance to sign before all the jobs are filled. Which is classy, but also might torpedo any chance of a trade. The teams that would have to trade for him would be the teams he wouldn't want to sign with, which means that he'd be unlikely to sign a new deal and they'd effectively be trading for him for one year.
I didn't think that was a problem, last season at least. I could be viewing it through rose colored glasses, though. Well that's not uncommon. The player rarely literally asks in an official capacity, his agent does it and thus provides plausible deniability. It's funny because I thought Jim Harbaugh was trying to increase Alex' trade value by saying Alex had more to do with coaching Colin than he did.
Absolutely amazing, the NFL got two things right today, Adrian Peterson got the MVP award he deserved for the season he had. And even though it was five years late Cris Carter is finally in the Hall of Fame. Its a great day to be a Vikings fan.
I figured Peterson and Peyton would split MVP/Comeback Player. Both deserve both awards frankly; they both came back from truly awful injuries and were absolutely fantastic.
DEAR LORD GOD, WHO REALLY SHOULD HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO, PLEASE USE YOUR MIGHTY HAND TO HELP THE 49'ERS AND MAKE RAY LEWIS CRY FOR REALZ. Thanks Buddy
Honestly I can't remember the last time I cared this little about the Super Bowl. I just have zero connection to either team; there's a bit of animosity toward the 49ers (division rival) but it's only recently that they managed to stop being fairly hapless, so it's not like I feel all that intensely about it. And I just don't care about the Ravens at all.
I can't seem to get any interest for it either, at most I will switch to it during commericals of the Puppy Bowl, or whatever else I decide to watch today.
Not quite quoting, but he was saying something along the lines of "I'm tired of Ray Lewis, this isn't his Super Bowl", that kind of stuff at the end of the pre-game.
Not happy with this game because although I prefer the saner brother, I really don't way Murderin' Ray to win. Also, worst halftime show ever and not close
Tony Bennett and Patti LaBelle with Indiana Jones and the Miami Sound Machine. Especially when they start singing songs from the Lion King.
So hey it looks like we got ourselves a football game. Except Pierce, who probably needs to be put in traction right now.
