Joshua looks so normal and safe in comparison. D:
Well, well, well. If it isn't Mr. "I see no merit in asking you to dance". Could someone be feeling a bit...jealous?
Amaya feels like fireworks might erupt between them at any moment.
Joshua: "Is it?"
As he speaks, Josh gestures to Amaya for her to take his hand. She does so, and he squeezes her hand tightly.
Joshua: "Excuse us."
He leads Amaya to a spot a little further away from Leonardo.
Joshua: "What did he say to you?"
Josh clearly doesn't like or trust Leonardo. What a coincidence; neither do I!
She gives an honest account of what happened, and his grip on her hand loosens.
Joshua: "I see..."
Amaya: "I-I'm sorry..."
Joshua: "No, it was me who said it would be all right if you joined the party. I will explain things to Prince Leonardo later."
He smiles kindly at her.
Joshua: "But, I'm glad..."
Joshua: "I thought..."
Amaya: (Thought what...?)
I like woobie Josh waaaay better than crazy Josh.
Amaya: (Did His Highness come over just to rescue me...? He did say he doesn't like dancing...)
I looked at Prince Joshua as his cheeks flushed red.
I could feel my own heart beating erratically with every part of my being.
Later that night, Amaya is in her room feeling anxious. Josh has gone to Leonardo to explain Amaya's presence.
Soon, she hears a knock on the door.
Amaya: "Is everything all right?"
He doesn't answer and instead enters her room with a troubled look on his face.
I have a bad feeling about this.
He's being evasive.
Amaya: "What is it?"
Joshua: "I want you to accompany Prince Leonardo while he visits a few places around the Kingdom tomorrow."
Amaya: "You want me to accompany him!?"
Even Amaya can't believe this shit.
Joshua: "Perhaps he has taken a liking to you."
Amaya can hear a trace of uneasiness in his speech.
Amaya: (Prince Joshua...?)
And we have a new email:
About tomorrow's visit
I know it's out of the blue and I'm sorry.
But it's a request from the guest and I can't say that it wouldn't influence the problems between the kingdoms.
So let it go.
However, Jan and I will be by your side when you visit tomorrow, so there is nothing to worry about.
I intend for us to go sightseeing with Prince Leonardo, so you can take it easy.
Also, Prince Leonardo is famous for being quick with girls. I'm sure you know that since he invited you to dance. Be on your guard.
I can't help but feel like Leo's "request" was framed more like "gosh it would be a shame if Nerwan and Dres Van had to go to war, don't you think~?"
Although I could be biased because Leo is just obviously such a damn creeper.
That's because Joshua's biggest problem is being socially dysfunctional. Leonardo is just a creep. A very disturbing creep.
Joshua, darling, no.
Can I punch Leo in the face? He needs a fist to the face.
Also, Joshua, Amaya isn't a citizen of your kingdom. If she says no, royalty be damned, the guy has no control over her and neither do you. If Leo starts a war over this, things won't end well since he'd be causing a dispute over a citizen of Charles Kingdom.
Unless I'm wrong because Screw The Rules He's A Fucking Creepy Prince. Of* I'm just wrong about politics in general.
*Or if. I don't know how I missed that.
I think it's mostly:
a) Leonardo won't officially go to war with Dres Van over Amaya, because he doesn't have to; given that the situation between Nerwan and Dres Van is already shaky, he's in a position where if Joshua doesn't go along with his requests, he can contribute to relations between their countries escalating to war over other ongoing issues.
b) Even if Amaya's involvement meant that, say, Charles Kingdom (where she's studying on exchange) or Oriens Kingdom (where she's actually from) would get involved in an official capacity, by then the initial damage to Dres Van will very possibly already have been done, something which Joshua obviously would want to avoid because - social issues notwithstanding - he's a better person than Leo is.
All of this is admittedly guesswork on my part since we're talking about a bunch of fictional kingdoms and I'm not really sure what kinds of international policies apply here to begin with (and we're already probably giving it more thought that the writers of the game did). But there's also the point that Leo doesn't have to bring about a war either way - he just has to make Joshua think that he might, knowing that Joshua won't take the risk of calling his bluff.
You make a good point, but over thinking games is the fun part!
And in conclusion: Fuck off, Leonardo. Fuck right the fuck off.
Well, I can't say I hate Leonardo yet.
Even if he turns out to be an asshole, it's just like what Angie said about Claude; the route need an antagonist, and I think that having Mr. Douchebag here take up this role is better than making Josh be his own antagonist, y'know?
I don't hate Leonardo for the role he plays I hate him for the really, really bad vibes I get from him, for lack of a better explanation.
Yeah, I appreciate the role that Leo plays! Especially since Joshua is a little too good at being his own antagonist when left to his own devices.
But Leo's still a damn creeper.
The entire time I was reading this update I was like
Like, wtf Joshua maybe if you left Amaya in the room she wouldn't get creeped on and what is this why are you being such a creep and leaving her with your creep frenemies? AGJKAHJASFALKFKSA
He has done enough already just by dancing with Amaya, and I thought Joshua was being creepy.
heeeeelp! this guy, this hair cut.. omagad! It's Light!
Amaya, don't let him know your name, I sure he's planning to let you die an horrible, messy, dirty, painful death!
And Josh, please, stop acting like a pimp who hand a girl to his guests. A blushing pimp, but a pimp anyway!
He scares me.
Sorry, I can't hate Leo yet because Leo.
Joshua seems to be a really weak character right now...I guess he's still not at the point where he realizes he likes Amaya.
Herp Derp. Why is it that all the Joshuas I know are so derpy?
HNNNNNNGGGG LEOOOOOOO <3
God, he was so adorable. God.
Leo is best boyfriend. I'm sorry but I would take him over a prince any day.
I got a harmonica necklace at Comic Con along with the manga volumes ❤
Goddamnit Josh, stop being so stupid and starting talking with her! Leo is definitely creeping me out. All of this makes my blood boil.
What Leo is this? Where is he from? I know too many Leos....
Oh! I remember that manga. I haven't read it in a while. I adore that Leo <3
That's why Prince Leonardo is Leonardo and not Leo. Can't call him Leo.
And I realize some of you may be getting bad vibes about Leonardo simply because of my reactions to him. I can't help it; I just hate him with the burning fury of a thousand suns.
Yay, I'm not the only one who thinks this~! :D
Somebody call Amaya's fucking cardiologist and she won't have to go with this if she's finally hospitalized for that irregular heartbeat of hers.
New headcanon : Amaya ends up in Katawa Shoujo if she doesn't manage to woo any prince.
I wasn't scared or mad with Leo at all at first because I liked his hair yes that's how I am he didn't do anything you could call bad yet.
But now... uh...
Also haha wow Josh great way of handling the situation as always nah the new antagonist doesn't really make me like you more
Leonardo doesn't bother me yet. He's curious about his frenemy's new galpal, and he's not acting any more inappropriate than Joshua already has.
I see Leonardo has the same...skill with compliments that Josh does.
Amaya (who is wearing her own clothes today) gives him a weak smile.
Leonardo: "I apologize for making you abide by my request."
Amaya: "No, I am honored."
Amaya: (Jan and Prince Joshua are supposed to be coming along as well, but I am still worried.)
The door opens, and a familiar, cheerful voice rings out.
??: "Leo! Long time no see!"
It's Roberto, of course, and he's got Edward and Wilfred with him.
Amaya: (Why are the three of them here?)
To run interference, hopefully.
Amaya shares my relief at seeing them when someone takes hold of her arm.
Thankfully, it's not Leonardo; it's Josh.
Feeling a little threatened by having so many rivals in the room, Josh?
Leonardo bows toward the three princes.
Leonardo: "It has been a while, hasn't it?"
Edward: "I'm glad to see that you are well."
I'm not. Ooh, can part of the tour be a hospital? Can we have people with contagious diseases sneeze on him?
Leonardo: "It is good to see you all as well."
Joshua: "So you are all here just to see Prince Leonardo, are you?"
Edward: "But then we heard Prince Leonardo was staying as well..."
Ed turns to Leonardo.
Edward: "We haven't seen you at any of our gatherings lately, so I was a little worried."
Roberto: "Really... We thought you might be plotting something..."
Leonardo: "What would I be plotting?"
Wilfred just comes right out and says it.
Wilfred: "A war with Dres Van, perhaps?"
Amaya: (Whoa... Prince Wilfred...)
Edward quickly steps in to defuse the situation.
Edward: "That is a rather harsh joke, Prince Wilfred..."
Leonardo: "It would be, if he were joking."
It's less than effective.
Joshua: "And if it wasn't a joke?"
Leonardo: "Did you say something, Prince Joshua?"
Joshua: "No, nothing at all."
Things are getting tense when Roberto laughs.
Roberto: "Right, Amaya?"
Leonardo twitches. (Thanks for giving me that mental image, game.)
Leonardo: "Oh, so that's her name...? Amaya..."
Roberto seems a little confused and shoots a look at Josh before answering.
Good going Roberto. NOW HE KNOWS HER NAME. And how creepy is it that Leonardo was insisting she accompany them when Josh never even told him her name?
Jan: "Yes, of course."
Joshua: "Shall we go then, Prince Leonardo?"
Roberto: "Oh, are you going somewhere?"
Jan: "Yes. Would you all like to join us...?"
Joshua: "It will be a nuisance having this lot tag along..."
Aw, poor baby.
Roberto: "You are as unkind as ever, Josh."
Joshua: "Unkind? You are the ones who invited yourselves here."
Edward: "Well, we did come here without making an appointment first, and I can see that it would be a hassle to have the three of us tagging along. Shall we go home then?"
Roberto: "Do we have to...?"
Wilfred: "We chose a bad time to come."
Amaya: (But they came all this way...)
She stares at Prince Joshua. He meets her eyes, makes a face and averts his gaze.
Hey, the training's starting to sink in. Way to go, Amaya!
Roberto: "What's this? Josh is being unusually apologetic..."
Wilfred: "It's like sleet in the summer time."
Joshua: "Sleet? What's that?"
Weather in Not-Germany apparently does not correspond to Real-Germany.
Roberto: "Have you not heard of sleet before?"
Roberto: "How about hail?"
Joshua: "Jan used to put chocolate hail on my desert when I was younger."
Just HOW sheltered have you been, Josh?
Joshua: "Only a 3!?"
Josh is utterly confused and Leonardo chuckles.
Leonardo: "We rarely get that kind of weather in Nerwan and Dres Van."
Edward: "That's true... It doesn't really snow either, right."
Joshua: "Oh... So sleet and hail are types of weather?"
Yes. Yes it is. It seems so sounds way too sarcastic even IF that's my natural response. But if I got anything about Josh's route is that direct is the best approach. PLUS I WILL NOT BELITTLE HIM IN FRONT OF LEONARDO I AM NOT THAT CALLOUS.
Yes, they are.
Geez, what do they teach these princes in Dres Van? The royal education system here sucks. :|
No wonder Josh is so socially dysfunctional. No wonder.
Someone tell me his tutors were promptly fired, they are terrible at their job. And if it's just they didn't want to say he was wrong at anything so they never corrected him, WELL FUCK THEY ARE TERRIBLE AT THEIR JOBS. (Don't mind me I'm just furious right now WHO TAUGHT THIS KID AND FIGURED THEY DID A GOOD JOB FUCK.)
A) Yes they are.
Joshua likes it when we confront him, Leonardo probably won't. Win-win !
But...if she says "Yes, they are" with a smile on her face, it doesn't seem that sarcastic...
"It seems so" seems more sarcastic to me, since she's from a diff country and might've/most likely seen this weather before... idek man these choices, can't they add an emote to the end to show her expression?! DX
That exchange was kind of adorable with the chocolate hail.
I don't understand how he doesn't know what snow is though, even I know what it is and I've never seen it.
I vote A,he needs to know.
Although I don't in any way condone Joshua's behavior, it's really hard for me to hold it against him very much when it's like he never really had a chance to learn how to behave properly before now. Between Dres Van's nonsensical and restrictive system of rules, his isolation from other people, and what was obviously a woefully inadequate education, it's no wonder he's a social moron - he's basically only had Jan to even attempt to moderate his behavior, and Jan enables him as much as he actually provides any guidance.
Yes, sweetie, they are. Weather is that thing that happens outside.
In my head Leo says something like, "I would like to experience your, ahem, fine land. Bring me the female."
Separate names with a comma.
