Gah! Between the creeper prince, Josh, and Amaya's final thought....They are all now officially terrible.

My take is that she doesn't want to cause trouble for Joshua, and she's smart enough to realize that if she doesn't go (even though that's what Josh wants), it will offend Leonardo and make more trouble for Josh than if she does go.

Amaya, stop being dense protag-chan and run the hell away NOW!

My unreasonable rage at Amaya is the 'I wonder if it is really alright....' comment. Wear one of the dresses Josh gave you as a snub to Leo, at least. Hopefully, they'll both get the point. Subtle and effective.

I took her comment / thought as 'As a commoner, can I wear something so fancy?', not 'Should I wear this dress, which will send the wrong message to everyone involved in this crazy drama?'

The next evening, Amaya is being escorted to the party by *shudder* Leonardo.



Amaya: "Uh..."

Leonardo: "Are you upset because I'm the one escorting you?"

The man is a GENIUS.

Amaya: "No! Of course not! I was just thinking that there must be someone who would make a more suitable escort than me."

Lie like a rug, and pray this night will be over soon.

Leonardo: "Most women are happy to be escorted by me."

Haha...NO.

Amaya: "What?"

Leonardo: "You are the first person I've known to act so deflated while being accompanied by myself."

That's because most of the women he's been around have been after his shiny crown and don't care what he's like as a person.

To be fair, ALL the princes have this problem. It's just more of an advantage to Leonardo if women aren't concerned with his personality.

He's a sociopath, is what I'm saying.

Amaya: "I'm sorry."





I know I've already used this during the update, but it expresses my feelings SO WELL.

Amaya looks at her dress and gives Leonardo a weak smile as she thanks him for the compliment.

And then her eyes meet with a certain royally awkward hedgehog across the hall.



They look at each other for a moment before Josh turns away to speak to Jan.





Leonardo: "You are my date for tonight, Amaya."

She smiles back at him.

Whyyyyyyyy

Amaya: (That's right, I have to act as Prince Leonardo's partner for now...)

But as the night wears on...



Leonardo finally leaves her alone to go speak to some reporters.

Amaya watches him deal with the reporters and thinks he really does look like a prince like that.

And then he has to ruin it by turning to look at her, and well...

Leonardo: "Although during this visit I was able to meet the most wonderful woman."

Amaya: (What...?)

The reporters all look at her and then turn their attention back to Leonardo.

Bloody hell, you jackass.

Amaya: (T-that was embarrassing...)

The press conference ends, and the dance music starts. Leonardo takes advantage of all the attention still focused on him to ask Amaya to dance. Of course, she can't refuse with everyone watching.





Leonardo: "You should forget about that square and come to my kingdom."

Amaya: "Huh...?"





The song finishes, and Leonardo remarks that it's a pity the dance is over. He's soon surrounded by women wanting the next dance, and Amaya is able to escape left alone as he chooses one of them.

Just as she's starting to feel relieved to get away from Leonardo the dance floor, she's surrounded by a gaggle of reporters.

Thank you so much Leonardo, you asshole.

Reporter A: "Excuse me, but are you the woman Prince Leonardo spoke of?"

Reporter B: "What is your relationship to Prince Leonardo?"

She's totally confused by their barrage of questions.

Amaya: "I..."



Amaya: (Oh...)

??: "I am sorry to interrupt..."

The reporters shrink back from the person shielding her.

??: "She is a guest here at Dres Van Manor. I cannot permit you to question her like this."

He then turns around.


Eep.

Oh boy. BUT AT LEAST WE ESCAPED FROM THE PIT OF DOOM. In exchange for, you know, the pond of doom.

Come on everyone, don't be discouraged, this is the best opportunity for Josh and Amaya to show that creeper who's boss.

*sigh* no, I have the feeling there are more misunderstandings coming.

Don't you wish they'd just make out in front of the reporters and be done with it?

Josh left the party, pulling Amaya along with him.

Amaya: "Are you angry?"

He turns his head a little at the question, but he keeps walking.

Joshua: "About what?"

Amaya: "About... Prince Leonardo..."


Yes. Yes it does.

Then again, that's how he normally looks, so...

Amaya: (That's why I'm asking...)

Amaya: "Well you certainly don't look like you are in a good mood."

I get the feeling that Amaya's nerves are frayed to the last strand after dealing with Leonardo all night. Just a hunch.

Josh doesn't respond.

Amaya: (I guess he really is angry...)

He lets go of Amaya and opens his closet door.

Amaya: "Prince Joshua..."

He ignores her as he pulls some clothes out of his closet.

Then he throws them over to her.



Joshua: "Here."

Amaya: "Huh?"

Amaya reacts too slow, and the clothes fall to the floor at her feet. Josh sighs and then frowns.



Amaya: "What...?"

Joshua: "Don't make me repeat myself. Change into something else."

Amaya: (Here...?)

She's completely speechless as her heart starts to beat wildly in her chest and her cheeks grow hot.

Amaya: "Why are you acting like this all of a sudden?"

That's a very good question.

Joshua: "I don't like what you are wearing."

Amaya: "What...?"

Amaya: (He must mean this dress...)

Josh, honey, you do realize that Amaya has a whole closet full of clothes in her own room, right? Women's clothes? You didn't have to drag her to your room to change, is what I'm saying.



Joshua: "Just...get changed."

Amaya: (Prince Joshua...)

He falls silent.

It's an uncomfortable silence, and Amaya can't stand it. She turns to leave the room.

Amaya: "If I must change, I'll do it in my own room."

Amaya: (Oh...)

Joshua: "Don't go..."

Prince Joshus wrapped his arms around me, clothes and all, as his gentle, quiet words wrapped themselves around my heart.

Joshua: "I couldn't take it..."

My chest tightened as I heard the pain in his voice.

Amaya: (Couldn't take what...?)

Joshua: "I just can't control myself any longer..."

Amaya: "Prince Joshua...?"

I spoke his name quietly, and he whispered in my ear.

Joshua: "I don't want to see you in a dress that another man chose for you..."



His hold on me tightened.

His grip was so strong it was painful, and my heart raced.

I felt a wave of sadness wash over me as I relaxed into his arms.

Amaya: (Prince Joshua...)

Joshua: "Amaya..."


Aaaaaand the translators ruin a beautiful scene with a really poor choice of words. (WTH, you couldn't have said "pulling" or anything that would have had less rapey connotations than "forcing"? Really?!)

The next morning...



Leonardo kisses the back of Amaya's hand and steps back.

If I were Amaya, I could not find bleach and a ball of steel wool fast enough.



She looks over at Josh to see if he would react to the kiss.



Amaya: (I wonder if he hates me now...)

After Leonardo leaves the manor, she follows Josh to the dining hall, thinking about LAST NIGHT.

At some point, she suddenly realizes the situation and tries to wriggle free.

Amaya: "Oh... Your Highness..."



Joshua: "I'm sorry... I didn't mean..."

Amaya lowers her head, embarrassed.

Amaya: "No, I oh... I should probably go back to my room and get changed now..."

Joshua: "Right."

Amaya: "Please excuse me."

Awkward...

Just as she is leaving...

Joshua: "Amaya..."

Amaya: "Yes?"





Joshua: "Never mind... Good night."

Amaya: "Good night to you too."

Seeing that, Amaya feels like they're growing apart, and it makes her sad.

Amaya: (I guess he didn't like the attitude I took... He really doesn't seem to care for me anymore.)

Joshua: "What is it?"



Jan: "Your newspaper is upside down."

He freezes for a moment.

Josh isn't mad at her at all...he's being shy. He's just as embarrassed about what happened as she is, and he doesn't know how to deal with it.

Not that he'll let on, of course.



Joshua: "I was just making sure you were doing your job and paying attention."

Uh-huh.

Jan looks impressed and nods.

Jan: "I wouldn't have expected any less from you, Your Highness."

It's a brilliant performance on Jan's part. How can he keep a straight face?

Josh sets down the newspaper, seemingly calm.

Oh this is such a trainreck. Talk to him! God. I just. Gah. Tell him to be better Leonardo repellant. He started getting the hang of it toward the end there. Yes Josh, you can be a SLIGHTLY posessive crazypants if you keep worse creepers away. At least I have faith Josh can learn to ease up on the yandere, compared to her other options. : (

YES!!! I knew going to the party was important, not the method I actually expected, but the results are satisfactory.
