A normal smile, on a morning like any other.

I smiled back at Jan, as I put the cup of tea to my lips.

Amaya: "This is..."



Jan: "Do you like it? I made it special, just for you."

Jan's voice seemed to echo from far away as I heard another. The low voice reverberated in my mind.



Jan's echoed voice was accompanied with the feeling that my body was shaking violently.

I felt myself being shaken again and again, when I started to regain consciousness and became aware of myself once more.




"Worried"?! It's HIS FAULT! What right does he have to be worried?!

Amaya: (Oh...)





Jan: "Are you awake?"

Amaya: "Jan... What's going on?"

He drugged you and tied your hands behind your back in a basement. WHY ARE YOU TALKING TO HIM?!

Amaya: "Why have you done this, and where are we?"


FUCKING. HELL.

Amaya: (What...?)

Amaya: "In Nerwan...?"

Someone laughs.

??: "I am so glad to finally see you here in my kingdom."




And yet not long enough.

He's looking at her with a disconcerting smile.

Amaya: "Leo..."



Leonardo: "I am honored to hear you say my name so familiarly, my dear."

He took my chin in his hand and wrenched my face up to meet his.

Amaya: "Please, stop!"

Prince Leonardo seemed to find the horrified look on my face amusing.

Leonardo: "If only Prince Joshua were here to see you looking like that..."

Amaya: "Prince Joshua...?"



Leonardo: "Are you in love with him...? Well then..."





Amaya: (Wha...)

He held my face firmly in his grip, making it impossible for me to turn away.

I fought as hard as I could to get away, but my hands bound the way they were made it impossible to move far.

I continued to fight him, trying to avoid meeting his face.

Amaya: (No... Prince Joshua...)


I TOLD you he'd get worse.

We now interrupt this incredibly uncomfortable situation to bring you a flashback.

Several years earlier...



The King: "Here you are. Joshua, I'd like you to meet Jan. He is to be one of your servants."

Joshua: "Jan...?"

Young Jan bows his head.

Jan: "It is an honor to meet you."

The King: "Young as you are, if you work hard, you may become his personal butler. I'm counting on you."

Jan: "Yes, Your Majesty!"



Jan: "Oh, Your Highness... Where are you going?"

Joshua: "Wherever I feel like."

Jan: "That is true, but is it all right if I join you?"

Joshua: "Why?"

Jan grins.

Jan: "Well, because I want to get to know Your Highness and understand how I can serve you best."

Josh gives Jan a wide-eyed stare before snorting derisively.

Joshua: "You're strange. Do whatever you want."

Josh walks away and Jan follows after him

Jan: "Yes, Your Highness!"

We then return to the present where Leonardo is about to force himself on Amaya *shudder* when a voice calls out.

??: "Your Highness!"



Leonardo: "What is it, Jan?"

Jan: "I understand how you feel, but shouldn't you contact Prince Joshua first?"

Leonardo: "What?"

Jan: "You are going to have the contract for all trade and business dealings up until now changed to profit Nerwan, aren't you? In that case you should act as soon as possible, for the sake of the Kingdom."

Leonardo pulls away from her and frowns at Jan.



Leonardo: "You have a point, but..."

Jan: "You can have your way with her later. Now is the time to call His Highness."

Amaya: (I can't believe what I'm hearing... How could Jan say something like that?)

I don't know. I just want the old Jan back. :(



Leonardo: "'His Highness', huh?"

Jan: "Sorry?"

Leonardo: "You are so loyal, calling him 'Highness' like that."



Jan: "It is just out of habit. I have been serving him for many years now after all..."

Leonardo: "Whatever you say, I'll listen to you for now."



Leonardo: "There's no service down here."

He leaves the basement.

And there was much rejoicing.


But at this point, this isn't much better. I really hope Jan didn't know about the whole "Leonardo wants to rape Amaya to hurt Josh" thing before he brought her there.

Jan: "Are you all right?"

Do you even care?

Amaya: "Oh, yes..."

I couldn't read his expression at all, but...

Amaya: (He had looked worried when I opened my eyes just before... Could he really be a bad person?)

I don't know! I don't know what we should be thinking anymore!






So, do we do the guilt trip route or the accusatory route?

I'm angrier at the fact that this is.. what, the second (/third?) time Jan's assisted in kidnapping Amaya and there's no option to call him out on it.

I'm going to go for A, if only because my gratitude for him getting the creeper away from Amaya is ever-so-slightly stronger than my resentment for him causing this stupid situation in the first place.

I hope the other princes are the ones to rescue Amaya. I have a feeling that Joshua would be jealous that she was in Leo's dungeon and lock her up until she tells him that his dungeon is totally nicer.

The fact that this seems like a thing Josh would actually do at this point makes this way less funny.

Not to condone his earlier behavior, but he has gotten better over the course of the route and hasn't pulled that kind of crap in a while. If he were anywhere near that bad he would not have respected Amaya's decision to leave in the middle of her last week like he did.

Yeah, I know... but it seems like something he would do if he was still that bad. And it scares me.

I just feel like we should stick to criticizing him for things he has actually done, and give him some credit for having learned better than to do them again.

Hijacking her back to Dres Van to make rice balls for him does not compare to drugging her and tying her to a chair in a rape basement - even at his worst, Josh was better than that.

I still want to Megaton punch Leonardo through a wall though. I'm going to assasinate you just you wait... *angry muttering*

I don't really feel like he has earned credit. We don't see that he has learned better in the higher sense of "Whoa holy shit I was doing fucked up things that I should not do to anyone ever." He has learned Amaya doesn't like being kidnapped so maybe he shouldn't do that. And it took two times for that to sink in.
