Yes! I LOVE Claude. Playing the Good Route for Wilfred made me all kinds of Claude happy. (Not that I wasn't before) All the things that made me frustrated with him in the Happy route made me love him in the Good route.

I like how unbelievable the situation is that even Amaya's going WTFFFFF...and then promptly forgets it...'cuz, you know, it's not like she had anything really valuable in her apartment anyhow. (Passports? Money? Bank books? What's that?)

Who cares about important or irreplaceable documents, mementos, and possessions? Handsome and rich boys!

That's what I was afraid of.

Yes, usually people would be more worried about all of their possessions being gone.

I don't really care what we call Wilfred and can somebody please spoiler summarize about Claude? You have piqued my interest and I must know.

Amaya laughs a little at his shaken composure.



Amaya: (Oh no, did I offend him?)

Amaya: "Yeah... That's probably better."

Spoilsports.

Amaya: (Perhaps I should have been more formal.)

Nooooo, that was perfect.

Amaya: "Is it alright if I call you 'Prince Wilfred'?"

So boring.

Wilfred flashes a warm smile.



Amaya: (He looks so gentle when he smiles...)


...Claude's lurking behind her, isn't he?

Wilfred: "I am going to head back to my chambers, goodnight."

Amaya: "Goodnight."

Amaya: (I'm not completely sure, but I think I got to see some of the real Prince Wilfred tonight...)

She makes her way back to her room with a light step.

Once there, she changes into some nightclothes and goes to bed.

Amaya: (Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful, Prince Wilfred and Claude especially.)

Her cellphone rings. It's a number she recognizes.



Amaya: "Yes. Thank you so much!"

Old man: "That's good to hear. Was there anything else you need?"

Amaya: "No, I am fine. How about you? Are you feeling better?"

He laughs.

Old man: "You truly are a kind soul... I am feeling considerably better, thank you. Less about me and more about you though. I think it best if you stay there for the present."

Amaya: "But..."

Old man: "I will arrange everything for you, so there is nothing to worry about."

Although his voice is calm, Amaya still feels a little doubt.

Amaya: (Who is this guy?)

Old man: "If you are ever worried about anything, don't hesitate to call me."

Amaya: "Thank you very much. Excuse me, but is your name Lord Michel?"

There's a moment of silence before he bursts out laughing.

Old man: "Of course, I never did tell you my name."

Amaya: "I want to be able to do something for you, in thanks for helping me."

Old man: "You don't need to worry about that. You've already helped me."

Amaya: "But..."

Old man: "In that case how about if I ask you to call me Mike?"

Amaya: "You would like it if I called you Mike?"

Old man: "Of course. Being called Mike by such a cute girl would make an old man like me very happy."

Saucy old man.

He laughs, and Amaya finds herself laughing along with him. She agrees to call him Mike and ends the call. After she hangs up she wonders if he has some influence over the Spencers.

Amaya: (He must be someone pretty powerful.)



Amaya: (When I talked to that old man on the street, I had no idea it would lead to all this. Both Prince Wilfred and Claude have been very kind and I am not being troubled in any way.)

She brings both their faces to mind.



Amaya: (I can't stay here forever, but I do want to get to know Prince Wilfred a bit more.)

Heh. Blushing Wills. Mission definitely accomplished! He should be glad that it's not me who's the main character in the game because after seeing that blush there's no way I wouldn't continue calling him Wills. Although I think I could come up with better/more embarassing nicknames for sure .. especially since I would enlist the help of Roberto, hehehe.

Amaya wakes up in the morning to a delicious smell. She turns her head to see Claude.

Doesn't the man ever knock?!



Amaya: "I, oh... Yes. Good morning."


Buh?

Claude: "I will ask you not to touch any flowerpots other than this one."



Oooookay. Where the hell is this coming from?

Amaya: (Well, it must be very valuable and it was an abrupt request.)

I...feel like I'm missing something here. Like maybe last night Amaya asked Claude for a plant oe some flowers for her room or something. EDIT: Actually, I know where this came from now. It's some buggy, misplaced dialogue from later in the chapter. Just imagine they were talking about tea this whole time.


He's talking about the tea, now, I think.

Amaya: "Yes, it's wonderful."

Claude: "I thought it would be to your taste, Miss Amaya."

Amaya: (My taste?)

He bows his head slightly.

Claude: "Yesterday before dinner we talked quite a bit. I figured that this type of tea would be to Miss Amaya's liking."

Well, that's thoughtful. Kind of creepy, but thoughtful.

Amaya: "Did you base that on the things I told you I didn't like yesterday?"

He nods.

Claude: "Yes, my job is to make sure everything is to your liking. As I do for each member of the Spencer household."

Amaya: (Wow, being a butler must be a difficult job.)



Claude: "I'm sorry, have I offended you?"

Amaya: "Oh, no. I was just thinking how amazing that is."

He laughs.



Claude: "For you and everyone who resides in the Spencer household."

Amaya: (...He's like a super butler. I feel as if I could leave anything to him.)

Later that day...


She looks at the flowerpots lining the hall and stops walking.

Amaya: (Oh, these flowers don't seem as vibrant as the others...)


Oh, this should go...well.



Claude: "This is Claude, was there something I can help you with?"

Amaya: "Oh, yes. It's about the flowerpots in the castle corridors."

She goes on to explain that the flowers near her room don't look as healthy as the rest, and she wants to repot them. Claude hesitates because they generally have professional gardeners take care of those things.

Amaya persists, saying that she has a knack for gardening. Her herb garden is going strong, and in primary school she brought back a garden everyone said was dead.

...She's really getting into this, isn't she?



Claude: "I understand."

Amaya: "Huh?"

Claude: "Let me check with the gardeners first. Once I have done that, I will contact you again. Until then, please do not do anything with them, is that clear?"

His words rang with an authority that allowed for no discussion.

Amaya: (Scary...)

Amaya: "I see."

She explains where she is and hangs up the phone to hear someone laughing behind her.


Wills!



Wilfred: "Claude can be a bit scary sometimes."

Amaya: (Had he been listening?)

Yeah, that would be the scene that killed him for me.

Well, A, because it's true. I think B is true too, but it makes it seem like that's the ONLY reason. Make sure he knows she's doing this because she wants to!

Amaya: "What?"

I don't know. Satsuki from SitSC or Ebihara from IYAT would probably disagree.

She remembers what Will's parents said at dinner.

Amaya: "Excuse me Prince Wilfred, do you not like talking with people?"

Will looks at her with an expressionless face.



Amaya crumples under his cold gaze.

Amaya: "No, I didn't mean... I only asked..."

And then he PATS HER ON THE HEAD.

*swoons*


Well, that's nice and ominous, isn't it?

Amaya: "What?"

Wilfred: "Can I ask you to take care of these flowers for me?"



Amaya: "Of course."

Amaya: (Well, he is a prince. I should only be thinking about how to repay him for his kindness towards me.)

She's lost in her thoughts when she hears a voice in her ear.

??: "Sorry to keep you waiting."

Amaya: "Wha?!"


Creepy.

Claude: "I apologize if I startled you."

Claude confirmed with the gardeners that the flowers in that hall need attention, and he'll leave the repotting to Amaya. He then warns her not to touch any of the other plants there (the misplaced dialogue from earlier.) Will cuts in here.



Claude: "Your Highness?"

Wilfred: "Surely it is okay for her to help out a little more if she wants to?"

Claude raises his eyebrows.

Claude: "Surely you jest. Just one of these pots is worth several million Crus alone!"

Amaya: "Several million!?"

Amaya: (Several million... So if I base it on the price of a hamburger being roughly one Crus...)

That's a lot of hamburgers.

Will laughs.





Claude: "Of course I wouldn't. I never intended that I would ask her to pay for anything if she broke it."

Wilfred: "Of course."

Claude: "However, I believe is best to leave such things to the gardener. If Miss Amaya were to say otherwise, then that's fine..."



Amaya: (Eek.)

She winces slightly before replying.

Amaya: "No, I can do it!"

Amaya: (I've already said I could, so... And Prince Wilfred seems to be okay with it. I'll do my best!)

Claude draws a short breath.



Will seems amused, and Claude's lip curls slightly.

Claude: "Understood."

Amaya: (It looks like he doesn't think too well of me right now...)



Something about his eyes gave me a strange sense of unease.

Claude: "If it is your wish, then perhaps we could have your help with the rest of the planting? Of course, I would again need to converse with the gardener."

Amaya: "If allowed, I will care for all the flowers to the best of my ability."

Claude: "Understood."

Will watches the exchange and then quietly turns to leave.



Claude: "Yes, Your Highness."

Amaya speaks to Claude again after Will is gone.

Amaya: "I'm sorry if I have caused you any trouble."



Claude: "If you felt that way, perhaps it would have been wise to show a bit more discretion."

Amaya: "Wha?"



Claude: "Of course, this doesn't count as having caused any trouble."
