No such thing as too many Princes - Let's Play Be My Princess

Sweet, handsy Wilfred. It really does look like the Gree version is pretty radically different, which makes me morbidly curious what Joshua's route is like there.

Morbid curiosity is the best kind of curiosity.

Hey, guy, I don't like your attitude. How's about you go somewhere whiles I romance this prince? Oh, you don't like my plan? Well too bad cause I'm gonna do it anyway.

I started playing the GREE version last month. I picked Edward to start. I haven't gotten very far yet (stupid events, eating all my strength, can't earn RF) and his is route is waaaay different from the self-published game, too. There was a cute exchange where he talked to the protag about always losing his glasses. He joked that he sometimes wondered if there were wings hidden in the stems, or if they just turned into legs and scuttled away when he wasn't looking. He was completely deadpan the entire time he was talking about it, too. (I took screenshots; I may post them as a bonus update whenever we get to Edward's route.)

The next afternoon, Amaya is planning on going shopping. (She only had the clothes on her back and whatever was in her purse, after all. Hopefully, her passport (if this world has passports) and bankbook/credit cards were in there). She's walking down a staircase where tapestries depicting past kings and queens are hanging on the walls when someone calls out to her to wait.

Oh joy. It's Claude.





Amaya: 'I'm going shopping..."

His expression grows more severe.



Unless the castle has a gift shop we don't know about then yes?

Amaya: "Um... That is okay, isn't it?"



Amaya: (Looks like I said something wrong again...)

IMAGINE THAT.




You know, it's a shame Claude has to be such a creepy bastard. He's probably the second-prettiest butler after Zain (Luke is a close contender, though.) Standards, I have them.

Claude: "It wouldn't do if something were to happen to you while out. If there is anything you require, please ask me."

Amaya: "Sorry, but... I..."

Amaya: (There are certain things I want to buy on my own...)

No, Amaya, this is where you give him a list comprised of nothing but underwear (because you only have one set, after all), tampons or maxi pads, Midol and feminine douche. He wants to keep you in the castle? Pay him back in embarrassment.

I have no shame.



Claude: "Please excuse my thoughtlessness. I will arrange a female maid immediately. If there is anything you need, please let her know."

Damn it.

Amaya: (That wasn't really what I meant...)

She probably wanted to take advantage of being in Philip to pick up some souvenirs. Or even just window shop a bit. Neither of those are exactly the kind of things you can have someone else do for you.

A little later in Amaya's room (well, her balcony, technically)...


She's staring at the inner gardens. After giving her list to the maid, she just returned to her room. But she could only stand being alone for so long, so she went out on her balcony for some fresh air.

She spots Will, accompanied by ten men in black suits.

Amaya: (Wow, those must be his bodyguards. I wonder where they have been.)



Amaya: (Did our eyes just meet?)

But he soon lowers his head and continues walking.

Amaya: (I must have imagined it...)

She feels a bit disappointed.

Sweet, sweet kuudere, we will make the ice melt. Just watch. We have the fires of love at our disposal, courtesy of Donmai!

It is two AM and I want to go to sleep but I'm catching up with alerts leave me alone.

I'M FROM THE FUTURE! It's 5AM here, HAH! ... I shouldn't be proud of that

Tell me of the future!! It's only 1 AM where I am.

In the future, there is weather!

Some time later (or maybe the next day, I dunno), Amaya is watering the flowers in the hall when she notices Will.


That's my girl!



But she kinda sucks at this and quickly loses sight of him, but then she looks down and notices a bookmark on the floor

It's made of feathers. Neat!

Wondering if Will dropped it, she looks around and notices the door to one of the nearby rooms is ajar. Remembering her tour with Claude, she vaguely recalls that particular room has something to do with Will.

Picking up the bookmark, she quietly looks into the room.


Hnnnnng



Amaya: (I didn't know Prince Wilfred wore glasses...)

He suddenly looks in her direction, and their eyes meet.


Aw, darn. He must be farsighted and just need them for reading. (As opposed to poor Ed, who is so nearsighted he can't function without glasses or contacts. Just like me! *sobs*)



Amaya's heart flutters at his smile.

Girl is falling hard and fast.

Amaya: (Prince Wilfred must be a very kind person.)

She just stands there, staring at him.

Hard and fast.

Wilfred: "Aren't you going to come in?"

She comes back to her senses.

Amaya: "Oh, yes. Thank you."

She steps hesitantly into the room, which is arranged like a study.

Amaya: (There are so many books...)

Amaya: "Is this your room Prince Wilfred?"



Amaya: "Office? Oh, so this is where you work."

My office is where I play computer games.

Amaya: (I think Claude told me when he showed me the castle... But that means...)

Amaya: "I'm sorry, I must be disturbing you in your work."

She bows her head, but Will's smile doesn't waver.



Relieved, she sits down on the sofa he indicated. As she does, she notices some flowers in a planter on the desk, and thinks that they don't look very healthy. Bothered by this, she turns to Will.

Amaya: "Those flowers don't look very healthy, do they?"





Amaya: "It's not so much that I like flowers as it is that it bothers me to see them wilting."

So in other words, you do like flowers.

Will stares at her face as she speaks.

Amaya: (Am I the only person like that?)

She shrugs and he laughs.

Wilfred: "Do you mean to take care of these flowers too?"

Amaya: "Um... I suppose. If that's okay with you?"



Wilfred: "Sure, I don't mind."

Amaya: (What!?)

Amaya: "Really? Are you sure?"

She stares back at him and he looks away casually.

Wilfred: "So long as they do their job well, I don't mind who takes care of them."

REMEMBER THIS STATEMENT

Amaya: (Prince Wilfred...)

Amaya: "I'll do my best!"



He asks Claude to bring two cups of tea to his office, who clarifies that he wants two cups. Will answers yes, one for himself and one for Amaya (whose heart skips a beat at the casual use of her name).

Shortly after, Claude comes into the room with a tea tray. Will and Amaya are sitting facing each other on the sofa. Claude sends Amaya a brief look as he places a cup of tea in front of each of them.



Claude: "Have you finished your work for today, Your Highness?"

Wilfred: "Not yet, I am taking a break."

Claude looks bewildered.




Creepy.

Claude: "Miss Amaya, didn't I ask you to stay away from this room?"

Um...maaaaaaybe...

She ducks her head.

Amaya: "I'm sorry. I was shown so many places. I did think back to whether or not you said this room was out of bounds..."



Wilfred: "I allowed her to come in."

Oh, yeah, that's right! Neener, neener, neener to you, Claude.

Claude stands very still.

Claude: "You did Your Highness?"

Yesssss.



An uneasy silence fills the room. Amaya tries speaking to Claude.

Amaya: "I've been asked to take care of the flowers in this room."



Claude: "Is that so? I apologize for my rudeness."


Oh, dear. I do believe she struck a nerve, *cackles madly*


What to do? (As if I even really have to ask.)

EDIT: And just when I post, another update... not sure what to vote for. Claude is obviously planing things, but it would be more enjoyable to spend our time with Wills...

I am not following that butler. It's always the butler who did it, after all.

On another note, I feel like we're walking in on some odd Subordinate Excuse kind of situation, minus the ho yay. (... Well, to me.)

Amaya stares out the doorway after Claude.

Amaya: (He did ask me to stay away from here. I hope he's not mad.)



Wilfred: "What's the matter?"

Amaya: "Oh... I was just wondering if I made Claude angry."

Will laughs.


Want to approve because Claude, but disagree with this type of attitude in general. /conflicted

Amaya: "He's only a servant... Do you mean I don't need to listen to him because he's a servant?"

He gives her a funny look.



Amaya: "But, Claude works very hard for you and your family, right?"


Will...does not take criticism from Amaya as well as Josh did. Josh even seemed to enjoy having someone around brave enough to argue with him at times.

Wilfred: "I know that without you telling me."

Amaya: (Aah!)

She quickly bows her head.

Amaya: "I'm sorry I said something I needn't. But if that's the case, perhaps you could be a little more..."

Wilfred: "...a little more...?"

He glares at her.

MAYDAY! ABORT! ABORT!





Amaya: "I... I suppose I am. Anyone would want to know that they are appreciated."


*Whew* Crisis averted.



Wilfred: "Yourself as well?"

Amaya: (What?)

Heart fluttering, I was drawn into his gaze.

Locked in place by his eyes, I found myself unable to move.

He drew closer to me, and reached out his hand to touch my face.

...Oh my. Is it getting a little warm in here?



Amaya: (Wha...)

His hand was warm on my cheek, and I felt as if my heart was going to explode.

I moved my lips to speak, but found myself unable to make a sound.


hnnnnnnng

He brought his face closer to mine.

Wilfred: "Think about it."

Oh, I am.



He was close enough to feel his breath on my skin, and I could hear my heart beat louder and louder.

My face grew hot and I wasn't able to think straight.



Wilfred: "...I'm sorry."

He removes his hand from her cheek.

WILL, YOU MASSIVE TEASE.

Amaya: "Um..."


You know exactly what's wrong, you little...



Amaya: "N-nothing..."

She feels mixed emotions and turns to hide her face.

Amaya: "It's nothing."

Wilfred: "Oh..."



Amaya: (Why is my heart pounding like this?)

GEE, I WONDER.

Idiot.

Wilfred: "I need to get back to my work soon..."

He smiles and picks his glasses back up.

Amaya: "Oh, okay. Thank you for the tea."

She starts to leave, when she hears Will's faint voice.



Amaya: "What?"

Startled, she turns around to see him smiling at her.


Why do I get the feeling there's an euphemism in there that's flying right over her head?

Amaya: (Oh, right. What was I thinking?)

Amaya: "Yes, of course."

THE FLOWERS ARE AN EXCUSE WE ALL KNOW IT.

Ugh. Whyyyyyy?

Amaya: "Excuse me, Claude."



Claude: "How may I help you?"

Amaya: "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to enter any forbidden areas."




Damn straight.

Claude: "Please, don't think any more of it."

Amaya: "That's not it at all. Even if Prince Wilfred did say it was alright, I had been asked to stay away from there and I forgot. I'm sorry."

Goddamnit.



Claude: "Well, the castle is a big place. Please forgive me for my rudeness.

Okay. You're forgiven. Can we GO now?

Amaya: "Oh no... I wasn't..."



Amaya: "Yes, but it wasn't so much that he asked me to care for them, it was more that he seemed to sense I wanted to."

Claude's eyes waver some more.


Oh-ho, so that's the way the wind is blowing. Will, you big fibber. "So long as they do their job well, I don't mind who takes care of them.", eh?

Amaya: "What? So that pot of flowers is..."

Claude: "Yes, he takes care of the plants in his own chambers and office."

Amaya: (Ahh...)

Amaya: "So, he probably only asked me because I was too insistent..."

Or maybe he liiiiikes you!

Better be careful with Amaya, Claude. You know Wilfred doesn't like anyone touching his things!



Claude: "I previously asked if I may take care of the flowers in Master Wilfred's office. However..."







Amaya: (Huh?)

What meaning lay behind those steely eyes?

Only Kami-sama no Iutoori (Fujimura Akeji) can do what it does, natch. It's crazy-wonderful - so I'm spreading the word. Warnings: Gore/Extreme violence, sexual content. Viewer discretion is advised.

It's about highschoolers who have to survive in these games where they're put to kill each other, or simply get killed by anything that the host of the game comes up with. The twists of who goes bye-bye first are sometimes really shocking. It's so good.

Older!Amaya is hot as well, but I like this haggard look to him. Oh, and you might have guessed: Amaya's the antagonist and he thinks his situation is the most fun he's had in his life.

So it's kinda like Battle Royale?
What's up with the Japanese and forcing teenagers to kill each other anyway?
I know most of them can be real assholes, I've survived high school, but it's not like it's their fault, they're teenagers.

They have a very strict education system, I guess? But usually, the teenagers don't technically kill each other with their own bare hands. It's usually through stupidity, lack of trust, fear/slip-ups - it's more about relationships in that way than Battle Royale. Plus, it has fantastical elements.

I <3 how they draw scared/angry faces too~ And as for that face, teehee, you'll find out pretty soon :)

Yeah, I can see how you guys would have a much stronger reaction to Claude than I do now. Wow. When we finish this route I might do a post about all the major differences between the two versions.
