I love how Keith is Le Doucheking of Not-America...with le pretty faise.
Roberto could be handsy with me anytime. :D
ROBERTO~ :DDD He just makes me so happy. The puppy shows his teeeth~
As for adoption, I'll get the papers~!
A preoccupation with Roberto what are you talking about
Also Tewi don't worry I died too. :'D Dang it, for Joshua to say he doesn't work hard almost right before he wiggles through his teeth, he's really vying for jerkdom!
I actually enjoyed Keith's route, once he learned how to not be such a butthead.
But then, I am widely known to have dubious taste in fictional men.
It seems that poor Amaya is kind of secluded in West-Not-Berlin with Grumpy Guy. Sounds like the worst holiday ever. Nooo Bobby, don't leave us this way, we need you, at least as comic relief
One thing left to do to survive: seek comfort with Jan, or Roberto.. or both, after all, we're not picky, and we don't despise people for being high society ones, right?! :D
(why, oh why must my mind always turn innocent games into something PEGI +16?)
Haha, Joshua, we have perfect revenge: some day you'll have to try commoner's coffee! no less!
This is the beautiful man I was greeted with when trying to perv Roberto's profile on the non-gree version of this game.
Well, hello there, mr. Jewelry Thief Man!
Wait, using out-dated slang is a weakness?
AND he's a redhead!
And smart! And kinda dorky from the sound of things!
Welp, I'm sold.
I BET THEY ARE TRANSLATING THE THIEF GAME WITH ORIGINAL ART OMG SO EXCITED ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Love Letter from Thief X is a Voltage game that looked like this:
Then got translated and BMP'd to look like shit this:
So I bet they are going to release original art!
All i know is that Mr. Ginger is in the background of that cover art.
Based on this deduction, he's part of that game. Which is obviously being translated into English now.
Apparently, he occupies the same "space" in the 6 portraits in his game as Roberto does in Prince, so...perhaps the code got mixed up somehow?
No idea, but me gusta.
Joshua is reminding me of Lambert right now. NO ME GUSTA. We gunna go after Wilfred after this because I get the feeling Wilfred is going to be a Chezem.
Is that a stoic in the midground I spy there? So the tsundere up front, stoic to the back is just a recent Voltage thing?
I actually think the blond is the tsundere, and the stoic is at the very back. Mr. Ginger could be the token not-shota and....dunno, childhood friend/flirty is at the front?
Also if Wilfred is a Chezem I will be very pleased.
Here's a link to a blog where someone took pics of the character profiles for "Love Letters from Thief X" and translated them.
There's a glasses character! There's a megane askhgosithesrhlkdlfks./v.xv
...I think I speak for many of us when I say, "hawt."
Oh god why.
Not sure how much I agree with these comparisons.
I want them all.
I will take them and build a dungeon and lock them inside and make them mine forever.
Aw man. Gonna miss you and your pretty smile, Roberto. :( At least come back as some sort of pen pal or something!
And, well, OBVIOUSLY. Seems like they're the only two here (except for ourselves) that have some sense here and aren't so full of themselves.
I see what you did there~
Also, Narcolepsy-sensei, that man is amazing. Smart, and dorky, and red-headed, eee~!
Amaya wakes up and realizes it's completely dark out. She fell asleep at her desk while filling out the paperwork.
Oh, you have GOT to be kidding me.
She's been given a computer and dictionary to look up words with, but it's still taking a long time.
She sighs, and then notices there's a blanket draped across her back. She wonders if Jan came in and covered her with it. The thought makes her happy, and she turns back to the paperwork.
Amaya: (At this rate it will take me over a week to get this done...)
Amaya's on her way to the dining hall for breakfast, when who should she bump into but...?
He just stares at her instead of greeting her back.
Joshua: "Couldn't you sleep?"
And he reaches out and touches the skin under Amaya's eyes.
Personal space! PERSONAL SPACE!
Joshua: "Missing your parents so much you couldn't sleep?"
Oh, you bitch.
Amaya: "No! I was actually trying to get that paperwork done as soon as possible!"
Joshua turns away.
Joshua: "Are you always this loud in the morning?"
Amaya: (You were the one asking!!)
She is not a dog Joshua what is wrong with you.
Amaya: "What do you..."
Joshua: "Just keep quiet and come with me."
Amaya: (At least Jan is nice...)
She follows him to the dining hall.
It's just her and Joshua in the dining hall. Amaya recalls that Joshua was the only one present at meals yesterday as well. He really does live separate to his parents.
Joshua: "Jan has gone out for a while. He should be back soon though; was there something you needed?"
Amaya: "Oh, no..."
With nothing better to do, she starts eating. She realizes the food tastes really good, and says so.
Joshua is reading the newspaper and responds without looking up.
Amaya: "Are meals always like this?"
Amaya: "Isn't it quiet sitting in here by yourself?"
Amaya: "Are you listening to me?"
Amaya: "You're not listening are you?"
She yells at him, and he finally looks up from the paper.
Joshua: "What is it?"
Amaya: "I don't think it's very good manners to be sitting there reading a newspaper at the breakfast table."
Joshua: "It's not against the rules."
Amaya: (The rules...?)
Joshua: "I don't read like this out in public or when there are other people around."
Amaya: "Other people..."
Joshua: "Oh, you don't count. Sorry."
Amaya: "I...don't count?"
She's quiet for a second while she digests that, then speaks softly.
Amaya: "I don't mean to be rude Your Highness, but while I think rules are important... I believe a person's feelings are even more important."
Joshua: "A person's feelings?"
*BEEP* WHAT ARE THESE "FEELINGS" YOU SPEAK OF, HU-MON? *BOOP*
Amaya: "Yes. I think it is important to be able to put yourself in another person's position and imagine how they must be feeling."
He just laughs.
Then you are going to be a terrible king.
Amaya: "The point is... Wouldn't it be better to enjoy your meal, since we are having it...? That way, even your food will..."
He stares at her coldly.
Joshua: "That way I have more time for work and study. Why should I take time out of my day just to savor a meal?"
Does the man find absolutely no joy in life at all?
Amaya: (He cares more about being efficient...?)
Personally, I think it's kind of sad. But what do you guys think?
It's definitely sad.
It's sad that we're not dating Jan instead of this jerk.
Sad. But does he have to be such a jerk about his loneliness?
Sad, but you really WILL be a terrible king if you aren't thinking of others feelings. What does he think he's going to be doing once he becomes king? It's gonna be all about balancing the country and the people's need, and people are going to revolt if you can't understand why they're upset and do something about it. Heck, how would you PANDER to other royalty without thinking about what another person might want?
C: Flip the breakfast table
Look who came to visit me in my filthy commoner's house in the Gree version!
Angie, if you keep this up, you're going to make me get the GREE version as well. (Not to LP, just for me.)
The little paper-doll house is cute, okay.
THIS. Also, I recommend shoving the (now ruined) newspaper into his face.
YOU KNOW WHAT YOU MUST DO
SANTA ENDING GO
You laugh but
B: Stop talking to him. Let's get bad end.
Yes, the Gree's christmas side lottery is aheum.. a bit.. strange , I can't remember exactly who bring me this false reeinder trophy ( through collecting pinecones and candy canes yes,... I know) but the commoner in me says it's absolutely ugly, bad taste, not-princely a bit and looks like a decoration in a hunter's den at the far end of siberia, but, it give you +40 in charm! :D (at least it matches with my cheap patchwork blanket and the cardbox table that would make a beggar laugh)
but at least the side story's dialogues can be sometimes hilariously mistaken, something like
- hoooo it's huge!!
-yes it's really big
(they're talking about a christmas tree, if you wonder.. . you band of twisted minds... huhuhu!)
Ho, and answer A: It's so sad you're such a jerk, you deserve the good old treatment known as Arschtritt in old Dresvanian language, but as long the option doesn't exists, it's just plain sad.
It's sad...but he make an asian parent proud.
I found Joshua's dad btw
I'm mad at Joshua acting like a jerk, but honestly, I find it more painful to see how this behaviour is going to royally shoot him in the foot in the long run. (... Pun not intented.)
I am fully blaming most of this behaviour on his upbringing. Considering the fact that most royalty, back in the day, were raised to believe themselves superior than the "peasants" they ruled over, I'm not surprised that Joshua has this kind of behaviour. Problem is, he should have been raised with the idea that he's responsible for a country and has to make sure he does thing right, which is a lot of pressure to work under, but it seems to me he was raised more with the "You are better than those people since you are of blue blood and will lead the stupid masses down the right path" slant to it. Which is destructive and will lead to a revolution in the long run.
Not to mention that, like everyone else has said, not taking into consideration how his people are going to feel will never lead to good things. Why was he raised with this mindset I don't fucking understanding how will this achieve anything?
God, I thought the terrible parenting would stay in the In Your Arms thread, but NOPE, here too.
You have my sympathies, Joshua. You're jerkass behaviour is seriously grating on my nerves, but I can't help but wince at the implications and consequences it will have.
Thank God THE POWER OF LOVE will be enough to change that. Since this is a game and idealism is totally okay in these settings.
...It is probably not a coincidence that Dres Van is the only one of the six kingdoms that's in a political situation complicated enough for war to be considered a possible outcome.
... This explains everything.
Yeeeaaaah, I'm thowing my vote towards 'it's sad', as well.
Honestly, I'm not hating Joshua so much here, even though I want to smack him for being a jerkass. Mostly because it's obvious where his problems stem from (his shitty upbringing) and it's how it's going to bite him in the ass later on. Also, I think he's tolerable because the game treats his flaws as what they are, flaws. I mean, it honestly seems like his only friend is Jan; no one else wants to be around him, and the game makes it clear it's because of his behavior (well, so far at least).
I hate it when stories in general make characters like Joshua and either ignore his flaws and problems or, worse, make it seem desirable. Part of the reason I usually hate tsunderes.
This. I don't like Joshua's behaviour, but I wouldn't mind playing his route because no one's glossing it over like it's okay and ~romantic~. He gets called out on it (albeit not enough and not in a manner that will actually help anyone all that much), but hey, I'm actually looking forward to seeing him grow as a person.
Still feel like punching him though. But I don't hate him, I just hate the way he's acting.
I don't quite get why Joshy here is getting so much flack. Sure, he kind of kidnapped you and isn't polite, but I've seen this forum fawn over much worse. I think the real problem is that Joshua seems to be an introvert by nature; he's been raised to be and in some aspects is comfortable being alone. Look at how he acts at the party, he clearly does not want to be there but he is doing his duty. The way I'm reading it he is less 'commoners, those filthy masses' and more 'commoners, people that I'm not forced to interact with'. The only reason he took protag with him is an honest attempt to better relations with other countries.
Same thing with the newspaper. He uses his private time to understand situations going on both in his kingdom and in the world. He seems more likely to deal with the problem, not with the people.
Speaking of which, I can understand his annoyance at breakfast; some people (myself included) just don't do human interaction at that time. I can't stand the sound of a human voice if it's not coming out of a speaker and will watch anime as I eat if I can get away with it. If he's anything like that, then he's trying to be nice simply by eating at the same table with her in the morning. Actually, he's being nice either way because he's inviting her into his morning ritual.
So, um, can we wait a chapter or two before we bring out the pitchforks?
