Jan is talking to Joshua because apparently there's a party at the manor tomorrow and Jan needs to arrange his outfit.

Amaya: "Is there going to be a party?"

Jan: "Yes, it's-"

Joshua: "That's enough, Jan."



Joshua: "There will be a large number of guests from other kingdoms coming. They mustn't know we have a commoner staying here, do you understand?"

Oh, Joshua. You were doing so well, too.




Amaya takes it better than I do.

That evening, Amaya has finished all the paperwork and gives it to Jan.



Jan tells her it'll take at least 3 days and maybe up to a week for the papers to be processed.

Amaya has mixed feelings. Originally, she wanted to get it done and get out of there as soon as possible, but now there's a small part of her that feels relieved she doesn't have to leave yet.

Amaya: (Maybe I'll have a chance to get to know Prince Joshua a bit better...)

Just then, they hear a loud voice in the hall.

??: "Amaya..."



Jan leaves the room and Amaya follows him.

In the corridor, Amaya sees Joshua and two more familiar faces.


So...Joshua didn't want the other princes to know that a "commoner" was staying there, but Roberto already knew she was there, and he seems like the type to have already told the others, so...

Just what were you trying to accomplish?

Were you maybe just feeling a teeny bit jealous? :3

Roberto: "Oh, Amaya! So you are still here!"



Joshua: "Don't come out here..."

Too late!

Amaya: "I-I'm sorry..."

Roberto: "You don't need to apologize. We were just asking if you were still here."

Amaya: "What...?"

Roberto: "I'm glad to see you again."

She looks over at Joshua and he quickly turns away.

Joshua: "Well the cat's out of the bag now. I'll leave the rest to you, Jan."



Jan: "Understood."

They all watch Joshua leave.

He totally IS jealous.

Roberto: "You have it tough as ever, Jan old buddy."

Jan: "Not at all. This is my job. Now, it's not unusual for Prince Roberto to drop by, but I'm surprised to see you here as well Prince Wilfred."

Wilfred: "Prince Roberto forced me to come."

I can see him having that effect on people.



Roberto and Wilfred are there for the party tomorrow because it's "a pain to have to wake up early and get ready on the day" according to Roberto. And tomorrow's party is apparently a before party for yet another party at Nobel Michel the day after tomorrow.

Amaya: "A before party?"

Roberto: "Well, it's more like a small gathering to prepare for the next day and have a bit of fun. Right Wilfred?"

Wilfred: "We gathered at Phillip last year."

Roberto: "And it was held at my place the year before that. So it's Josh's turn this time, right Jan?"

Yeah, this is pretty much confirmation that Joshua just didn't want Amaya spending time with the other princes, specifically Roberto. Bless his repressed little heart.

Jan: "Yes... If I may, I would like to suggest that rather than standing here to talk... perhaps it would be best if you moved to the dining hall. I shall make preparations for dinner."

D'awww he didn't want the other boys flirting with you because he knows he's socially stunted and you might fall for them <3 Whata cutie lil' tsundere!

I'm really starting to think that we should take basically anything Joshua says with a hefty grain of salt. He clearly sucks at being honest about his own opinions and motives.

Which means his spiel earlier about seeing no need to feel empathy for others was very possibly bogus as well.

I just like how William is just totally disillusioned here. Dudes, you're invasives and not early birds, so I start to like you a lot!

Mostly because they remind me somehow Tamaki and Kyoya with reversed haircolors, I can totally hear their voices here. Wich add bonus points to the game, in my head.

The only thing lacking here is an actual image of Joshua facepalming, that would have made my day :/

Jan: "Thank you. This chef is a favorite of Prince Joshua's..."

Joshua: "When did I ever say that this chef was a favorite of mine?"


I've heard of (and known) picky eaters, but yeesh.

Jan: "Up until then we could barely keep the same person for a week, right?"

Boy, I bet his current chef is a nervous wreck during every meal. Poor guy.

Amaya: "R-really!?"



Wilfred: "Prince Joshua is a lover of good food."

He's a picky spoiled child, is what he is.

Roberto: "That's right. You should have heard the complaints he made at my party."

Joshua frowns a little.

Joshua: "I wouldn't go so far as to say I made complaints... It was only that for that combination, it would have been better to use a carrot based sauce..."

Roberto: "I know. After that the recipe was adjusted to use a carrot based sauce, just as master chef Joshua suggested."

Joshua: "It tastes better now, right?"

Roberto: "I guess, although I like it both ways. They both have their merits."



Joshua: "Your chef will never get any better if you are like that."

Aw, he's pouting again. How cute. (And to think a few updates ago it would have been annoying. We're on to you, Josh.)

Wilfred: "Does that matter? I liked it the way it was before."

Spoiler for Wilfred's route: he hates carrots.



Roberto: "Well, how about tonight then? There are all kinds of sauces being used here."

It's true. Roberto has sour cream, Wilfred has an onion sauce, and Amaya and Joshua are both using gravy.

Amaya: "Truly. The sour cream looks good too."

Joshua: "It's best with gravy."

Just as Amaya's thinking that Joshua can be stubborn, Roberto laughs and calls him stubborn.

Amaya asks Jan if she can try the other two sauces, and he puts some of each on her plate.

She tries the sour cream first.

Amaya: (Wow, it gives a completely different flavor... But I think I like it.)

Yes, Amaya, sour cream does taste completly different from gravy.



Then she tries the onion sauce.

Amaya: (This one has a simple taste to it, and not as heavy as the gravy...)





Amaya: (Uh... They all taste pretty good, but...)


So... Do we stroke Joshua's ego, or do we tell the truth?

Tell the truth! Joshua doesn't need his ego stroked, he needs more people around him who won't hesitate to tell it like it is.

Joshua's ego is the probably the last thing that needs strokes.

Being a picky eater myself, I'm afraid I have to side with Joshua on this one guys. Gravy all the way.

...Actually never mind, tell him they're all good simply because of his ego. It needs no feeding of gravy.

Picky eaters unite! Though, I'm of the five year old variety and wouldn't touch any of those sauces (or sour cream, because I'm not sure that counts as a sauce) pretty much ever because. :T

Edit: Oh, and my vote is B! Like others have said, if she hadn't SAID she liked all of them equally, I might have picked A, since, for all that we know, it could be true, but I'm not one for lying about what you like. That just causes SO many more problems than it's worth. Not that I would know about that of course.

I think he prides himself on being a "food expert". The stick and the carrot is the way to go : we've been confronting him a lot, now it's time to use the carrot.

If Amaya hadn't commented that she liked it all three ways, I'd be more inclined to go with choosing A, but since she's narrated that she can't pick a favorite, the choice comes down to "lie about your preferences to appeal to the guy" or "tell the truth" rather than "gravy" or "no gravy." I just can't approve of the former, even over something this minor.

I've been through 4 o the 6 Christmas routes in the Gree Christmas event now, and there's a trend.

Hmm, I have no idea. I didn't even know there were different kinds of gravy until now because they all taste the same to me... Except for one gravy I had recently that I do not want to speak of. Yuck.

On another note, I think Joshua's personality is getting much better or opening up a little more. However I should word that. Anyways, I really loved how he stood up for my favorite veggie by saying something really cool (in my opinion).



I swear I'm going to use that line one day and then Joshua's face will pop into my head. Help.

Ah haha ha! Roberto is my new sassy Latin best friend. We'll eat Italian ices together and gossip about the other princes. It'll be glorious.

Joshua: "Why does that mean I got rejected?"

Wilfred: "Different people have different tastes, right?"

Joshua sighs.

Joshua: "Well, I guess I shouldn't have expected a commoner to have a discerning palate."

Ouch. Amaya's not giving up, though. She asks Joshua to try it with the other two flavors himself and has Jan dish some of the sour cream and the onion sauce up for him. Hooray for assertive protagonists!





Amaya: "Yes. Rather than getting someone else's opinion, if perhaps you tried it for yourself..."

Joshua: "I don't need to try it to know what is best."

Amaya: "Just one bite..."

And he actually tries them! Proud of you, Josh.

A strange look crosses his face.

Joshua: "The gravy is still the best."

Goddamnit. Disappointed with you, Josh.

Roberto: "That's our Josh! Never backs down from his convictions."

Joshua frowns when Roberto teases him, but he keeps looking at Amaya.



He slowly starts to speak.

Joshua: "But...It wasn't bad."

Amaya: "Huh?"

Joshua: "I can see how people's opinions can differ depending on their own tastes."

Aaaaand I'm proud of you again. This calls for cake.



Roberto: "That's not something I expected to hear our prince of the icy mask to say."

Now, old Joshua of the first chapter would have gotten mad at this. New Joshua actually smiles.



Roberto: "Or at least you aren't aware of it yourself."

Joshua's eyebrows twitch.

Joshua: "What do you mean?"

Roberto: "Nothing at all. Anyway, what do you say to going for a drive after dinner?"

Oh, I don't know what you're talking about; now watch while I change the subject. *whistles innocently*



So, after checking with Jan to make sure it's not against the rules in Dres Van (no, really), they all decide to go for a drive. Instead of hiring a driver, Joshua suggests that Jan can drive.



Wilfred: "Prince Roberto's butler is splendid as well."

Roberto: "Yes he is, in an overbearing motherly kind of way."

Somewhere, Alberto's ears are burning, and he has no idea why.

Joshua: "Well I wouldn't say the butler here is anything special, right Jan?"

Goddamnit, Josh.



Jan just bows.

Jan: "It is as Your Highness says. Please excuse my incompetence."

Amaya realizes that Jan is actually very good at handling Joshua. She thought at first he was only following his orders because Joshua was scary.

Joshua - first impressions, how do I do them?

Wilfred: "Jan and Prince Joshua have been together since they were quite young... I think they understand each other quite well because of it."

Amaya: "Really?"

Joshua: "I guess. We have been together ever since he came here as an apprentice butler."

Roberto snickers.

Roberto: "Prince Joshua doesn't have anyone else close to him, so he's pretty much his only confidant."

That's...kinda sad, actually.





Jan: "I will go and ready the car now."

He tells them to wait in the courtyard for him and he will be there with the car shortly.

Wait, you mean he didn't even tasted the other options ? I'm taking back what I said about the carrot and the stick. STICK ALL THE WAY.

Says the guy who puts ketchup on his breakfast.

I'm more and more convinced that Joshua doesn't actually mean a lot of what comes out of his mouth. It's just a bunch of tsun because he thinks he's supposed to hold himself apart or something. In which case the correct approach will be to continue to tell it like it is and call him on his BS whenever the opportunity presents itself.

This should be fun!

Kitties!

Yay kitties! \o/

So after the great sauce debate, I've started seeing Joshua as a big kid. Let's see if the game does anything to defer me from that image of him. (Considering that the next update involves kitties? Probably not.)

Joshua had asked the others to go to the courtyard ahead of him, so he's still back in the manor, and Jan hasn't showed up with the car yet. Roberto, Wilfred and Amaya are looking around when they hear something.

??: "Meow."

It's an adorable little kitten!



Wilfred picks it up, saying he doesn't think it's even a month old yet.



More kitties! Soon, all three of them are holding one each and cooing over them.

??: "Hmm? Hasn't he brought the car around yet?"

Joshua has finally showed up, looking cross. He walks toward them and then suddenly stops.

Joshua: "What are you three doing?"

He's staring at the kittens.

Amaya: "We were..."

Wilfred: "We found some kittens..."

Roberto: "Look. Aren't they cute!?"

He holds his kitten out to Joshua.

Kitten?



Joshua: "S-stop it!"

That is...not the reaction I was expecting.

He actually shrinks away from the tiny adorable ball of fuzz.

Amaya: (Is he...?)

Roberto: "Josh... Are you scared of cats...?"

Calling it right now that Roberto already knew this.



Joshua: "W-what are you talking about!? Of course not!"

He totally is.

Joshua: "I just remembered I have some work to do! You lot can go by yourselves!"


You can almost hear the Benny Hill music following him inside.

Amaya: "Oh... Your Highness!"

Roberto: "Hit the nail on the head, did I?"



Amaya: (Truly... I can't see how anyone could be scared of something this small...)

Jan finally shows up with the car. He apologizes for keeping them waiting, and then he notices the kittens.



Jan: "Yes... His Highness isn't very good with cats."

No, REALLY. He saw a month-old, helpless kitten, and his reaction was "RUN AWAY!"

"Isn't very good with cats" is an understatement.

Roberto: "So it seems..."

Wilfred: "Why doesn't he like cats?"

Jan: "Well... He does seem to like animals as a rule... But with cats... He doesn't seem to like their coquettish manner."

Roberto: "But whimsicalness is one of their charms. Much like those of a woman, right Prince Wilfred?"

Wilfred looks at the kitten he's holding.

Wilfred: "I don't think that they are whimsical, but rather act based on their instincts. Wouldn't you agree?"

Amaya: "But His Highness tends to dislike all things that are not as they seem, or are not truly one thing or another... So I believe he is not comfortable with a creature that appears to act on a whim."



Wilfred: "You must spend a lot of time watching him."

Like a cat!



Jan claps his hands together.

Jan: "This is true. I am not sure if His Highness is aware of it himself... But he has recently been opening up to Miss Amaya as well..."

Amaya gets embarrassed.

Amaya: "T-that's not..."

Roberto: "Josh did seem to be acting a little different today... He might be opening up to Amaya... Just a teensy bit."



Amaya: (I wonder if that's true? I'd be so happy if it was...)

They decide that since Joshua ran away at the sight of the fearsome kittens they should call off the drive and head back into the manor.

Amaya says goodnight to the other two and starts to walk to her room when Joshua comes up to her. He asked what happened to the drive, and Amaya says it was canceled. He frowns a little but doesn't say anything more about it.



Amaya: "Sorry...?"

Joshua: "You can come to the party."

His tone is unusually kind, and it's confusing Amaya. Who is this pod-person, and what did you do to Joshua?

Amaya: "Are you sure that will be all right?"



Joshua: "Well, Prince Roberto and Prince Wilfred already know you are here..."

Aha! He WAS just trying to keep her away from flirty Roberto. J'accuse!

Joshua: "And you want to go, right?"

Amaya: (Is he doing this for me?)

Amaya: "Yes. Thank you very much."

Joshua holds some documents out to her.

Joshua: "Here."

She takes them, a bit confused.

Joshua: "It is your permit to leave the kingdom."



Joshua: "Everything should be finalized by tomorrow, so you should be good to go the morning after."

Amaya: (I can go home the day after tomorrow...?)

Joshua: "So I guess tomorrow will be your last day here at the manse."

His voice sounds distant to Amaya.

Joshua: "So I figured you should go to the party tomorrow, and have a good time before you leave."




Each chapter ends as end of day 1, day 2, etc in order, even when more than one day happen in a chapter. I think she's actually been there almost 2 weeks now.

Prince Joshua was remarking how astounded he was that you were able to skillfully organize such a massive amount of documents like that.

Prince Joshua is usually very harsh about women and commoners, but this was the first time he showed that much admiration.

With all the forms and documents I imagine that you would like to depart from here as soon as you can, Miss Tsukino, and with Prince Joshua's influence, we should be able to process them in a hurry.

I truly am sorry to have you wrapped up in our kingdom's laws.
I do hope you will enjoy yourself at tomorrow's party.
