No such thing as too many Princes - Let's Play Be My Princess

My Voltage games are acting weird this morning. Loading slow, the ads at the bottom of the title page don't want to connect to the app store, a "blank ad" showed up on one of them. (It looked like the ad didn't load, but when I clicked the area where it should have been, the game tried to take me to the app store, then froze and crashed to the home screen.)

I've had games get buggy before right before Voltage drops a new game or updates an old one, so here's hoping their USA branch is back from their Christmas/New Years hiatus./optimistic

Maybe one of her blood vessels popped from all the chest tightening she was doing earlier.

And...ALL THE FEELS.

ok, it's official, I'm totally a perverted mind.. at the sentence" how are you feeling after last night".. I started to think about which answers I, Personnally, would have made.
And none of them is free of innuendos. Nor free from ACDC high class references ( after all the whole game is about rich people holding balls, so I couldn't avoid it longer! hooo i'm soooooo ashamed of myself! :D)

Several hours later...



Amaya: (I feel as if I was there forever, and yet no time at all...)

She watches the manor grow smaller and smaller in the distance.

Amaya: (Thinking back on everything that happened, I do feel a bit sad.)

And yet, she probably won't actually tell Josh that. I swear both of them live solely to vex me.

Joshua: "What's the matter?"





Amaya: "That's not it at all! It must be Your Highness that is happy I'm going."

Shoot me now.







Joshua: "What I want doesn't matter."

Yes it does! Say what you want, Josh!

SAYITSAYITSAYITSAYITSAYIT



Amaya: (These are the last moments I have with Prince Joshua... I can't let it end on an awkward note like this...)

She looks down at her dress, the same one she wore to the party yesterday.

Amaya: "Um... Thank you so much for the dress... Are you sure it is all right for me to keep it?"

Amaya: (It looks really expensive...)

Joshua: "It's fine, I ordered it for you. If you say you don't want it, then I would only end up throwing it away."

Amaya: "What!? You'd throw it away!?"



Amaya: "S-sorry... It would just be such a waste to throw away something so expensive..."

Joshua: "That is why I asked you to take it."

Amaya: (Oh, right...)



Amaya suddenly remembers that she never thanked Josh for carrying her to her room.

Amaya: "Thank you for everything you did last night."

Joshua: "What do you mean?"

Amaya: "I heard that it was Your Highness who carried me to my room last night."

Josh just turns to stare at Jan. Jan smiles.



So Josh turns back to Amaya.

Joshua: "Who told you that?"

Amaya: "Well... It was someone who said they saw you in the corridor..."

He frowns at her vague answer.

Joshua: "They must have been mistaken. And you shouldn't be blaming me for your sleepwalking."

Goddamnit, Josh.

Amaya: (Blaming him...? But I was definitely told that...)

Someone starts chuckling.



And now it's Jan's turned to be glowered at.

Joshua: "What's so funny, Jan?"

Jan: "Nothing..."

Joshua: "You are a strange person sometimes..."

Josh turns back to the window, and Jan flashes a grin at Amaya. He whispers to her.

Jan: "He's not very honest, is he...?"

Jan knows my pain.

Amaya: (Not honest...? So it was him then!)

She whispers back.

Amaya: "I guess not."



Amaya: "Nothing..."

*whistles innocently*

Amaya: "But... Could I ask you to tell me a bit more about Dres Van?"



Amaya: "Yes. I want to know as much as I can before I go home."

Joshua: "I suppose I could..."



But he gets more enthusiastic as he keeps talking.

And what subject do they end up talking about?

Amaya: "Is that so...? We have rice balls where I come from."

Food, of course!



Amaya: "Well... You make a triangle out of some rice like this..."

Joshua: "With rice? You are just pulling my leg, aren't you?"

Amaya: "N-not at all! It's an actual food!"


Try them with the commoner's coffee, it's delicious.



Amaya: "Please do."

Amaya: (Teehee... Prince Joshua does look handsome with his usual dignified expression, but I like his smile the best... I'm glad our last moments together have been enjoyable.)

...oh, oh Joshua.

This is probably the explanation for a lot of his tsun right here.

But, well the whole car conversation ( BTW, why is he seated on the floor... :D) proves that I'm right to name every otome protag "Baka"it's sooooo accurate sooner or later.

( so much used to this name ,that now, when I see this word, I automatically think: " are you talking to me?" --- ok, first gangster movie reference of the year.. done! )

Amaya is being kind of a dimwit. Perhaps her heart problem has cut off the blood flow to her brain. Perhaps Jan can start passing notes for them or telling Amaya, "I know someone who LIKE likes you"

Just don't ask Edward to be their go-between. He tries in Roberto's route, and... awkward happens.

Keith: "I didn't expect to see you here with a commoner, Prince Joshua."

Keith's voice is laced with sarcasm. Josh seems annoyed for a moment, but he gets over it. He's getting better!

Joshua: "She is an important guest of mine."

Before we can be too proud of him, however, Glenn decides to butt in.



He laughs.

Glenn: "That doesn't sound like you."


Aaaand we all know that Josh has an issue about other people seeing him as a "proper" prince. Club Tsun prodding him is enough to get our awkward hedgehog to roll back into a prickly little ball.

Joshua: "I don't take any pleasure from it."

Amaya: (Wha...)

Joshua: "This is as far as I intended to go. I don't plan on keeping her as an escort for the rest of the evening."

...Until he decides to behave like a semi-normal person again and take the royal stick back out of his royal ass, I'll once again be calling him Joshua. He doesn't deserve a nickname when he's acting like this.



As Amaya is standing there shocked by Joshua's relapse, a soft voice speaks up.

??: "Then you won't mind if I take her off your hands."

Of course, it's Amaya's designated Guardian Angel for this route, Roberto.

Roberto: "Are you sure you wish to part ways now? She'll be going him after this, right?"


Bless his heart, it almost works, but Joshua's still too self-conscious.

Joshua: "It's fine. I'll leave her in your hands, Prince Roberto."

Amaya automatically calls out to him as he leaves. He looks back.

Joshua: "What?"

Amaya: "Um, well... Thank you for everything..."

She bows, but Joshua just leaves without a word.

Roberto: "And there he goes... All because someone decided it would be fun to tease him..."

He looks at Club Tsun.



Keith: "Are you trying to say it is our fault?"

Everything is always your fault, Keith. Everything.

Glenn: "I said nothing but the truth."

Roberto sighs and looks at Amaya.

Roberto: "It doesn't bother me. But... for Amaya... This is possibly the last party she will be able to attend with Prince Joshua."

Roberto is SUCH a mother hen in this route.

Also, I'm sad now.





Amaya: "It's fine. We had a good time in the car on the way here."

Roberto smiles.

Roberto: "Really? In that case, I had better show you an even better time tonight."


FOCUS, Amaya. We're here for the hedgehog Prince Joshua.

Later that night, Amaya is heading to the powder room to freshen her make-up when Jan approaches her in the corridor. He asks her if she's seen Joshua anywhere. She hasn't.


Hmm...

She offers to help look, but Jan declines. He asks her to enjoy the party and apologizes for worrying her before he leaves.

As Amaya is thinking that Joshua must be hungry if he hasn't eaten anything since breakfast, she hears a voice behind her.

??: "Is something the matter, Miss Amaya?"

It's the dreamiest man in the game Zain, Lord Michel's butler.

Amaya asks him if he's seen Joshua. He hasn't, and he asks if something is the matter. Amaya says no, and then she suddenly gets an idea.



Zain: "The kitchen...?"

Amaya: "Yes. There is something I want to make."

An hour later, she's walking around trying to find Joshua. She's worried he might have gone home already.

She's starting to make herself depressed at the thought when she runs into Edward. She asks him if he's seen Joshua anywhere.


Goddamnit.



As Edward is asking her if something is the matter, he notices that she's carrying something.

Edward: "What is that?"

Amaya gets embarrassed and hide her hands behind her back.

Amaya: "Oh, it's nothing... Please excuse me, I must be going now..."

Edward changes the subject and offers to give her a ride since she's returning to Charles tonight. Amaya hesitates a moment and then accepts.


Aw, she made Josh a rice ball. That's so precious. :3



As she waits for Edward's car to arrive, she catches sight of Joshua. He hasn't left yet!



She gets nearer and tries to catch her breath. Joshua, meanwhile, is at his default mood of "slightly annoyed."

Joshua: "What's the matter?"

Amaya: "Um... Here."

She holds out the package in her hand.




I think the choice here basically boils down to "Do you want to make Amaya sound like an idiot or not?"

Hum, that would be confusing. I don't have my Lackadaisy avatars on this computer, so how about Rin for a while. Maybe I can out-tsundere Keith!

Not to make Amaya sound like an idiot, but... hm, how should I put it... 'It's that thing that we talked about in the car' makes it more of a personal connection between the two of them. She could tell anybody that it's a rice ball, but we have a relationship here, Joshua!

Of course this is dependent on Joshua getting it and not just looking at her blankly like she's an idiot. But what the hell.

And just for science, I'm trying Edward's path on Gree version, just to see if double meanings are Roberto trademark. I must say, that not at all, Edward is pretty talented at this little game too. And some side characters seem to be also in the "nudge nudge wink wink "mood.
So, for now, I'll consider it as completely intended :D

And B, yes, saying " that thing" could lead any eavesdropper to misunderstanding.. and we know that someone here could, let's say, just hear casually while passing by and get wrong ideas. Or weird ones.

In my own defence, I'm like this in real life too. ... Which is not a good case, actually, let me try harder.

Speaking from personal experience, though I get REALLY irritated with certain behaviour types and related attitudes, I actually try my best to understand where the other person is coming from. I don't so much forgive as I acknowledge, and considering the fact I've actually managed to make friends (of sorts) with people I once SWORN OFF AS ETERNAL ENEMIES, I'm less inclined to be definite in my stance towards people themselves.

Their actions, though? AHAHAHAHA, no. I'm still irritated by Joshua's previous behaviour, defrosting notwithstanding, but as I said before, I don't hate HIM, and I can sort of understand why he's the way he is. If anything, he's got better chances at staying on my good side than someone who starts out on my good side who then does something that makes me uncomfortable or hits my DO NOT WANT or Berserk Buttons. That and he kind of reminds me of people I know in real life, so there is definitely bias at work here, too.

In the case of Roberto, I've still got mixed feelings, though like with all Voltage games, I don't really mind and he's growing on me. Except for Morgan. I am done with Morgan. Sorry to disappoint you, though, didn't realize some people were hoping I'd keep playing the devil's advocate!

And I need to finish catching up with this thread as well.

I know I'm gonna end up playing them all somehow, but for some reason I've yet to warm to Edward. Maybe it's because I haven't seen his flaws yet aside from that awful shirt combo. Or maybe his flaw is he can't stop playing the prince because he's hiding something sinister - who are you Edward? Who? And why do you creep me out? And why do I want to play you even more now?
