Kai tosses shattered wood posts towards Squish, who immediately brightens and starts creating a sturdier nest.
...Damn I think with Kai and Squish's combined efforts the fences are completely gone.

I sigh, but leave them be.
I might as well let them have fun for a bit.
Link pouts briefly, clearly wanting in on the fun, but follows me to the Pokecenter.

Hey! It's a Jigglypuff!
Link and I approach the Pokemon.

Upon noticing us, the Jigglypuff starts to sing.

Ha! That was good li'l fella!

I groan and pick him up. Carrying him over to Nurse Joy.
She gives me a sheepish look and shrugs.
"Sorry, sir. We haven't been able to get it to leave."
I stare at her for a moment, not expecting her to speak otherwise from the classic lines I was used to in Pallet and Viridian.
Huh...I guess every Nurse Joy is different.
One Awakening later, Link is awake and we head over to the Pokemart.

It's another weird guy...
Should I talk to him?
Link gives me an 'are you fucking serious' look, and I only shrug as I walk up to him.

I'm already regretting this.
Er, no actually.

He flashes me a charming smile and I feel shivers roll up my spine.
Well....
He snags my hand before I can protest.

"Don't you think you should put your Pokemon in its Pokeball?"
Link doesn't like his Pokeball. I...think I should leave anyway.
My voice shakes slightly. Oh Mew, I'm actually scared of this creep...
His grin expands.

Link is recalled in a red beam of light. I stare in shock before swiveling my head towards the guy.
He's holding my bag.
"Now, now. Not leaving without this now are you?"
I freeze. I...can't run.
He'll have all of my Pokemon's Pokeballs...
What...What do you want?
The man's eyes get a shadowy glint to them. "Oh...I want a lot of things from you."
My eyes widen and I'm actually preparing to run when he grabs the back of my shirt.
"Come, come, little boy...."

I jolt as I'm abruptly released from the damn prison.

I swing my head to look at Charles questioningly.
His gaze is fixed solidly on the ground, unflinchingly.
Yet at the creep's last words a tremor starts in his hands and he makes an odd choking sound.
I freeze and stare at Charles in worry.
Charles...?

Charles watches him leave with hollow eyes, clutching his bag to his chest like a lifeline.
(I'm...Fine. E-everything's fine.)
I stare and he shudders.
(D-don't wait up, okay? I'll just be...)
Charles doesn't finish his sentence and he walks away.
I follow in pure concern.

Charles is huddles in a corner, shaking uncontrollably. Yet miraculously no sobs are released.
It doesn't make me feel any better.
I hesitantly reach out a paw and touch his shoulder in an attempt at comfort.
Charles immediately recoils and lets out a pained hiss, like he'd been burned.
He pauses when he notices its only me, then dips his head back onto his knees.
The shaking starts up again.
Realization dawns and rage fuels my steps as I march away.

I stomp to that stupid garden and whistle sharply for my team mates' attention.
They gather reluctantly and I glare at them.
Have you guys seen a creepy man pass by here? Preferably into a house?
The all exchange glance before Squish hesitantly raises a wing. Tilting her head questioningly.
My gaze hardens.
He's done something to Charles.
Something bad.
I suck in a deep breath.
And now we need payback.
Since the kid's too torn up to do anything about it.
I can see the questions in their eyes and I explain what happens as much as I can.
Needless to say, they're joining in the revenge scheme.

Charles inhaled another shuttering breath, mentally shouting at himself to pull it together.
Link already knows to much according to the look on his face after he touched Charles(Stupidstupidstupid). Link probably thinks he's weak. He probably took his Pokeball and booked it. He probably hates him. He probably-
Charles choked back a sob and buried his head into his arms.

The trainer jumped in surprise and whirled around.
Link was standing there with the trio of Pokemon that was his team behind him.
Charles' eye widened and he hurriedly swiped at his face, vainly trying to clear his cheeks of tears..
Of course they noticed.

Link approached him slowly, eyeing his partner in concern.
"It's alright...We took care of Him." Link spat out the word like poison, his voice containing the same venom. Then his voice softened. "We're here now..."

Charles could only stare.
They...
They weren't leaving him...?

"I...but."
Charles stuttered still staring.
Link tilted his head in confusion.
He shrunk back into himself and continued in a small voice.
"I...I thought you were going to leave me..."
His answer was rather unexpected.

Link had dove into his arms and used his arms the best he could to hug Charles.
The trainer froze.
And suddenly his other Pokemon were surrounding him.

Kai tossed away a suspiciously bloody broken piece of fence and approached his side in a warm cuddle.

Squish fluttered up to his shoulder and with a coo, rubbed her head against his cheek.

Shii crawled up to his head and burrowed underneath his cap, surprisingly warm for a bug type.

And suddenly Charles was in a team group hug.
Those phantom touches were a lot easier to ignore.
Tears tore trails down his cheeks once more, yet no one mention them.

Charles embraced his team the best he could.
Their warm presence easing his mind.
They're not leaving him.
He's not alone.
...
Charles' tears turned to happy ones.

He was safe.
He was home.

Krabby would be awesome, as it's probably one of my most favorite Gen I pokemon, but since this is a Nuzlocke run that might be hard to do, so a Mankey or Rattata or whatever would also be nice.

I actually edited the rules of a Nuzlocke slightly.
If there's a route where I can get a Pokemon somone has requested I can catch that and only that, even if it's not the first encounter.
However if there's no specific Pokemon or I've already caught it, the first encounter rules apply.
Oh, and the whole faint=death thing.
Hopefully we won't run into that any time soon. But yes you can die.

My eyes widen and stare at the group in shock. Then I grin. Hah, don't worry I'll be quick.
I walk away with a spring in my step. Link chuckles with the others and they follow.
I freeze when I spot a certain building.

Link paused then jumps onto my shoulders. (Guess we're not going to be quick after all...)

My grin expands and I can feel my previous excitement about adventuring returning.
Alright guys! It's training time!

I crack my knuckles and glance towards Shii.
You ready girl? It's time to get you even stronger!
Shii seems to cheer, waggling her little legs in the air.
My lips twitch up into a smile and we begin.

A Nidoran Female dives out of the grass and into my arms with a strangled cry of fear.
I stare in shock as she cowers away from the approaching Rattata.
Gazing at her terrified form reminds me of...
My inner protective instincts flare and I bark to Kai to get the Rattata.
She easily KO's it.
I lower my voice to a softer tone and I direct my attention to the shaking Nidoran.
Hey there girl...
She freezes,
It's gone now.
The Nidoran looks up at me with shock shining in her wide eyes.
I smile at her as she turns her gaze to the fainted Rattata. She squeals and leaps onto the victorious Kai. Wrapping her stubby arms around the Mankey in a tight hug.
Kai jumps and looks fairly surprised, then gently pats the Nidoran on the back.
So...
The Nidoran turns to me without releasing her grip on Kai. I grin.
How would you like to join us?
I reach out a hand with a Pokeball gripped in it. She stares at it for a moment before glancing up at Kai, looking for confirmation.
The Mankey blinks at her then bobs her head. The Nidoran brightens immediately and dives to the Pokeball.
I laugh as she's quickly engulfed in a red beam.

I release her from the ball and smile slightly as she slides back to the side of Kai

She tilts her head and I take it as a yes.

An and Kai return to the road beside me and I gesture at Shii to continue.
She looks a bit confused at what just happened but gives a slight shrug and we go back to training.

OH FU-
SHII BE CAREFUL. I'M NOT LOSING YOU.
The Caterpie blinks up at me then shudders violently.
Sh-shii?
I hate the tremor in my voice, but I can't lose Shii. Not now.
Then Shii starts to glow.
I jump back in surprise and An squeaks before returning to safety of Kai's arms.
Squish takes off in fright before flying in circles around the Caterpie frantically.

Shii what's happening? Are you okay?
I watch in shock as Shii's form starts to change and expand.

Everyone falls silent. You could hear a pin drop.
Then I open my mouth.
