    "Oh yeah??? Handguns are MUCH more dangerous than rifles and you aren't restricting them!!" Might not be as effective an argument as you think it is.
    And we already talked this to death so we all know this is bullshit. But count on Michael Ramirez to add another layer of bullshit by counting drunk driving and "auto accidents" as "murder" (because the number of gun deaths goes up dramatically if you include "accidents" and "suicides") and only counting the number of "mass shootings" instead of, you know, actual fucking murders.
    And thanks for not citing dipshit.

    Not including suicide by gun but including car wrecks is particularly cute.

    Handguns are by far the most-used murder weapon in the country (and the only one that begins to approach the number of people killed in automotive accidents, provided for scale), and are therefore the most deserving of restrictions. A good cartoon.

    Also I know I just snarked it up, but how depressing is it that regulating handguns is so far from realistic that right-wingers can triumphantly talk about how much more deserving of regulation they are than assault rifles, confident in the knowledge that it will never ever ever happen?

    Soooooooooo if you kill 100 people in a mass shooting with an assault rifle, that only counts as a 1 in the ol' kill tally then. Outstanding.

    He isn't citing because the stats are bullshit and his his "argument" is so fucking dumb re: homicides OR deaths. The death toll from firearms including suicides skyrockets handguns above all others.

    http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/homicide.htm --> 16k homicides in 2010, 11k used firearms.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States --> 19k suicides using firearms in 2010

    e: otterloop mentioned all this in the part I quoted him on -- oops. I jumped the gun.

    Thinking Israel can be shitty isn't the same thing as being anti-Semitic. However the GOP has jumped on this gray issue and transformed it into a black and white "Support anything and everything Israel or you hate Jews" thing
    [IMG]
    Oh Gorrell? Is the Second Amendment one of the causes of gun deaths? Hmmm
    [IMG]
    I don't even know.
    [IMG]
    YES. WE SHOULD LET CHILDREN DIE IN "18 AVERAGE MASS SHOOTINGS A YEAR" SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH DEBT. GOOD POINT.
    [IMG]
    This is cute
    [IMG]
    [IMG]
    Know what I find funny? Every time someone goes on a shooting spree there is a large group that screams "He would have went on a murder spree with an axe if he didn't have a gun!!!" and they are the same god damn people that say "If criminals don't have guns they'll stop being criminals!!"
    Because that's what this is saying "If you don't have a gun to protect yourself from their guns they'll rob you" but couldn't he just use an axe to rob you?
    Oh right: if you don't have a gun you can't shoot and kill another human being over 100 dollars.
    (Oh: and he put a hoody on the criminal. Nice.)

    To not even say anything about the content--hey! That condom-on-the-rifle one is good! My god, it's like a political cartoonist actually understands composition! The angle of the penis rifle, Obama's right arm, and the NRA fellow's gaze all pull your view towards the focal point of the joke, and Obama's left arm balances out the gun barrel/hand arrangement above. It's got a clean, bold, distinctive graphic style; it makes a simple statement without being overly explanatory; and it doesn't have labels plastered all over every damn thing. I'll forgive the NRA logo because it makes for a jaunty hat. A legitimately good cartoon!
