Yeah, he cherry picked those numbers. By the way, you linked to the 2009 list, here is the 2011 list he actually used. He did it because, unfortunately, most of the rhetoric about gun control gets reported by the media as being entirely about assault rifles, so he compared rifles to all blunt weapons and called it "hammers" most of which might not be hammer murders. Of course, he also completely ignores the 1,587 murders in the "Firearms, type not stated" category, which could well be a lot of rifle murders - but those aren't specific enough, so they don't count.

That's why most people getting into the gun control argument who are not in favor of it don't use murder stats. They use the general crime stats, because when you can add in the 99.999% of blunt weapon assaults that don't result in a fatality it totally looks worse than when you add in the people who get shot and don't die - completely missing the point that by percentage, guns are more fatal than other weapons.

Also what about all the hammer murders that were prevented by people with guns, smart guy?

Th payroll tax holiday's expiration date was set two years ago and would have expired regardless of who that "Low Information Voter" voted for (Obama). In fact Obama wanted to extend the payroll tax holiday but it was one of the first victims in the Fiscal Cliff negotiations.
So the message of "Haha you reap what you sow ignorant Obama voter!!!" is wrong headed at best, deliberately misleading at...it's Lisa: this cartoon is deliberately misleading.

I think "Drunky Duck" was watching "Groundhog day" while drunk and got confused or insane

The cartoons about how Obama is so against voting against raising the debt limit amuse me to no end, since he voted against raising it when he was in the Senate when Bush was president.

I liked seeing this because it's like the hack version of the Bennett one I liked from yesterday or the day before. Let's make a cartoon featuring the grim reaper about all these gun deaths. How can I provide context? Maybe just a whole sentence about it floating in mid air. What's a good visual metaphor for this, keeping in mind that this comic is about the grim reaper? Bandolier? Probably a bandolier. Maybe we can just have the grim reaper running around on a big bandolier, that sounds pretty cool. Ok, almost done, just need to find the perfect label to really drive the point home...

The author thinks, and takes it for granted that the reader thinks, that the Arab Spring was a phoney optimistic label applied by "the liberal media" to a bunch of scary Arab terrorist revolts. Using this assumption he makes a strained joke that haha, if the animal that predicts spring had predicted that as a spring, he'd be a fraud - except it already happened, so, um, he'll turn out to have predicted it but then it'll turn out that he was a fraud. Also all of this is a prediction, so METAHUMOUR.

Nothing false about it, other then to someone as partisan as you are. In your world Obama can do whatever he wants, but if a republican does the exact same thing (in this case vote against the debt ceiling increase) it is the end of the world and must be stopped at all costs.
